Have people experienced this with cats before?
I’m writing because earlier this year I auditioned for a local shadow cast, and I got the part I auditioned for. I was told it could take 6 months to be in the actual roll I auditioned for, and I’ve gone to shows to help with quick changes backstage and just learn their general flow. I helped with some tech stuff as well and even performed as a Transylvanian in the show a handful of times.
I’ve been told in order to be the roll I auditioned for I must receive training for the roll by one of their approved coaches for this roll. I’ve asked now 2-3 times for this because it is preventing me from actually being cast in the show, but no one makes time for it. I also am being asked to be in other shows that are not Rocky that this cast sometimes puts on, and I’m frustrated because that is not the show/roll I auditioned for. They ask people to join the Rocky cast before shows start to encourage new members, not be in these other shows I just frankly am not interested in. I also feel like whenever I’ve been backstage to be taught how to do things no one really pays that much attention to me and instructing me, even though I’m told to show up so I can be taught how to do things.
I’m just getting overall frustrated and thinking about quitting because I don’t see this going anywhere despite showing up for months and getting home late. I feel like I’ve put my best effort in and I don’t understand why they encourage new cast members to join if they don’t intend to train them using the casting process they have to get these people on stage.
Is this a common experience with casts or does this sound unique to mine?
