Backstitch surface embroidery over needlepoint

Backstitch surface embroidery over needlepoint

I’ve done some canvases that have detail areas that call for backstitching over the needlepoint base stitches. But here’s my problem: I stitch the needlepoint background and then you can’t see where the back stitches are supposed to go. Does anyone have a way to mark out where back stitches go with having to just estimate? Example is the eyes on this reindeer from poppy monk

Invisible thread that’s not invisible?

I picked up some invisible thread from hobby lobby because I needed something cheap and quick but it’s… too invisible. Does anyone have recommendations on invisible thread that is still inconspicuous but I don’t need a microscope to use?

Plastic in my “100% Silk” Pepperpot?

This bundle of pepperpot I got just didn’t seem as soft as silk usually is and then I found this piece of plastic twisted in the fibers. Anyone else have this happen to them? Or have any explanation?

Reddit for cultural practices around illness

I’m a nurse and sometimes see patient families who have different cultural practices around illness than I am familiar with. Things like special jewelry/amulets, marking body parts in different ways, special clothing, etc. I’m looking to make a resource for myself and peers with things to know when caring for these patients/families.

Excessive dirt after carpet cleaning?

I had my carpets professionally steam cleaned yesterday and ran my robot vacuum over those same areas today. Is this a normal amount of dirt to have come up 24 hours after hot water extraction in 4 rooms? The carpet itself looks fine but I would’ve thought all this would’ve been picked up.
