When native German speakers hear a Liechtsteiner person, can they accurately identify them as a Liechtensteiner?

I know that it will vary drastically from region to region and by individual familiarity and of course Liechtenstein German is not homogenous.

But I'm just curious. Like how British people can identify an American from an Australian no problem but it's hard to tell an Australian from a New Zealander.

Does anyone think of speaking both Allemannic and Hochdeutsch as being bilingual?

I hear the high and higher Alemannic dialects spoken in Liechtenstein are so different that other Teutophones cannot understand it so I was wondering what the general attitudes locally were.

The Thesis

OK, I don't think I've heard this talked about much on this forum.

Christian's thesis is not the most memorable subplot of the movie but it's there.

It's clearly in there for a reason and I wonder what other viewers have made of it.

Dani's Frend

(I use SR1)

In the prologue we see Dani talking on the phone with a person that we never see or hear mentioned agen.

She clearly knews her well enough to talk about her very personal feelings (including about Christian).

This movie sort of lives and dies on the idea of Dani having no good support network but she has this frend. She had no reason to depend on Christian and his frends.

She had at least one other person and it would be an unfortunate coincidence for this tragedy to happen to someone with no cousins or something.

I'm ticked off with my place of work!

I had an appointment with a client only they never told me about it. It was sort of OK in the end but it was embarrassing for more than a moment.

It was on the schedule they send me from time to time which changes every few weeks it seems. I've only been with them for 2 months.

The thing is they have verbally confirmed every other change in schedule for me since I started. They told me recently of many changes to my schedule so when I got the new schedule on Telegram I thought nothing of it.

Why did they neglect to mention this one?

If it's human error then alright but I am really unwilling to accept that I am at fault.

Hate me if you want. It's nothing to me if you do.

My counsel to you is this: just because they are a *language school* does not mean they are remotely good at communicating.

Once again: no one told me I suddenly had a new client. Gotta pick a lane: either tell me about all of them or let me know it's all about the schedule.

I only got the new schedule like the previous day.

So that one fan theory...

SPOILER WARNING

So let's imagine that the tribe did actually kill Dani's family.

This leads us to two questions:

Why target this family at all?

And how did they do it if it looks so like the sister (is she ever named? I've seen this movie 3 times...) killed them herself.

Why does Mark do that?

Spoilers...

Why does mark urinate on that special tree?

There were hundreds of non-special trees he could have done that to.

Was it just a coincidence?

Another recent post inspired me to post this.

Did Dani authentically win May Queen or was it rigged?

And if so, why?

What are some subreddits that are entirely Francophone?/ S'il vous plait, disez-moi des subreddits qui sont entierment Francophone?

I'm trying to read more French.

I'm reading actual books but I want my internet time to have French in it as well.

I have tried to search for such Subreddits but it's weirdly hard.

Merci en avance

Christian isn't very popular

He isn't very charismatic, I agree. I didn't like what he said about retirement homes.

But is he really that bad? What does he do that's that bad?

He should have broke up with Dani. He should have spoken to her about his feelings and maybe they could have worked on them.

He's also in a difficult place because he's worried about what obnoxious people will think of him if he breaks up with her post-bereavement but he needs to not care what such terrible people think.

He doesn't have it worse but it's not a contest.

He's wrong for Dani (and vice versa) but she doesn't break up with him either when we know she has a friend (whom she talks to on the phone early on) and presumably other family. Christian is not her only connection.

His Friends are also perfectly cordial with her too. She lost her parents and sister, not everyone she knew before Christian so there's no reason to think she's an outcast.

Why does the first part play out like that? (SPOILERS)

This is meant to be a sincere question.

During the cold opening (the prologue I gess), Dani's family dies.

I have found this very bemusing because upon rewatching it seems to me that this doesn't have any influence on the plot that follows.

This is not a post meant to antagonize anyone, I really want to be told.

The tragedy isn't what made her go to Harga. It didn't make her stay with Christian (because she was alredy with him).

Thank you in advance for any explanations.

What exactly do I do at the metro?

OK, so now I know I can use my debit card on the metro.

But I'd really like to go in knowing exactly what to ask for and what to do.

So any help on this matter is very appreciated, thank you in advance.

What is "Naissance de Pieuvre"?

There is a movie I like with this title.

But I cannot think why it is called this?

It's about synchronized swimming so it sort of makes sense but is this a French Idiom?

Which tropes need to be abandoned?

There are some famous ones but let's try to avoid them.

"Dumb Characters"

"Cheap Jolts"

"Car not starting"

"Kids with imaginary friends"

What else can we think off?

We should boycott any Tomb Raider media until they have a Croft with the correct body type.

ideally we should be consistent with an iconic look that has been consistent over meny iterations.

I think we might need to stop saying "jumpscare".

I get how it gained currency but there is so much negativity around this word.

For some people, it is one of the criteria by which one judges a horror movie (no judgement) but mostly it has become the by-word for *trashy cliche teen scream*.

I maintain that the sudden scare is neither good nor bad; it just needs to be done right (a post for another time). I think we should embrace that we must not oppose them absolutely.

A big part of fear is the belief that anything could happen including something sudden. Ideally this never happens but we think it will. Of course it has to happen sometimes for us to believe.

So ultimately I think we should be more open minded about "sudden scares" and keep our contempt for the "cheap jolt".

Some people are calling this movie "Midsummer" and that needs to stop.

I didn't love this movie but please call it by its title.
