Possible reasons for being denied an employment (and dependent) visa?

We are waiting for an Ireland employment visa approval for myself and the spouse. It’s taking way longer than expected and in the meantime we’re dying of anxiety!!

My spouse has a previous B1 visa refusal from US in 2018. But she now holds a valid H1B visa (but not traveled to the US yet). I have never had any visa refusal anywhere. I already have my work permit from Ireland. We have no criminal history or overstay either.

Given these info, what are the possible reasons for an employment (and/or dependent) visa refusal that you’ve heard or can think of?

Estimate please?

Air fried Chicken (brushed with olive oil), poached egg, cashew rice and homemade mayonnaise (boiled egg, olive oil and pepper only). ChatGpt said ~1000. Is it really that much?

Recent Ireland Employment Visa (CSEP Approved) Timelines from India?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to get a sense of the current processing times for Ireland Employment Visa (Critical Skills Employment Permit) applications

My timeline:
CSEP approved: 5 June
AVATS submitted: 16 June
VFS submission (biometrics & documents): 25 June

Visa type: Long Stay Employment (CSEP)
Embassy**: India (New Delhi)**

Anyone who has recently received long stay D visa, could you please share:
AVATS date
VFS submission date
Decision date
Visa type

I’m also interested in whether join family visas applied together with employment visa takes same processing time or more…

Thanks in advance!

CSEP stuck on "Information Requested" after documents submitted – anyone experienced this?

I'm trying to understand whether my timeline is still within the normal range or if something may have gone wrong.

My Critical Skills Employment Permit was submitted through a Trusted Partner employer.

Timeline:

12 May 2026 – Application submitted

22 May 2026 – Status changed from "Awaiting Processing" to "Being Processed"

26 May 2026 – Status changed to "Information Requested"

DETE requested: "Please provide a copy of the applicant's qualifications"

27 May 2026 (afternoon) – Agent uploaded/responded with the requested qualification documents

5 June 2026 – Status is still showing "Information Requested"

Meanwhile DETE website shows Current processing date to be 19 May.

How long does it take before the application moved forward or was granted?

Any recent CSEP timelines would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hello folks, a long time ago, in 2018, I was refused a US B1 visa (Business visa applied by my company). It was in Chennai, India and no reason was given for the rejection (The officer simply handed me my passport back in the window). I didn’t get any letter either.

Now, my partner has secured a work permit for Ireland and we wanted to apply for entry visa. But as it turns out, Ireland needs “the original letter issued to you by the authorities of that country” for any prior visa rejection.

I tried to get in touch with the US authorities for the letter, but to no avail.

Note that i have good travel history since this rejection: Schengen in 2020, NZ and the UK in 2025. Also, in 2024, i was approved a H1B visa from the USA (valid till 2027, not travelled yet)

My question is, how likely is it for Irish immigration to reject my visa if I’m unable to produce a letter for my 2018 B1 rejection, given that I explain the situation in detail in my cover letter?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hello folks, I’m not sure if this post is appropriate for this sub, but hope it is! I’m planning for a CESP and associated D visa for me and my spouse (Indian).

Now, a long time ago, in 2018, my spouse was refused a short stay Business visa from the US. No reason was given for the rejection (The visa officer simply handed her the passport back in the window). She didn’t get any letter either.

Now, while applying D visa for Ireland, as per required documents list, they need “the original letter issued to you by the authorities of that country” for any prior visa rejection.

I tried to get in touch with the US consulate, but have little hope of obtaining such a letter. My question is that if we can’t provide the letter (but declare the rejection clearly), how likely is it to create an issue with her getting the visa?

Note that since that rejection in 2018, she has been granted travel visa for Schengen (2020), New Zealand (2025) and the UK (2025). She also has an active US H1B (long term work visa) visa approved in 2024.

I tried to get in touch with the Chennai consulate who refers me to a call centre which gave me an email id. When i emailed, I received auto reply asking me to use ‘navigator’ from a https://in.usembassy.gov/visa-navigator/. However, when i followed the navigator option, there is neither anything that matches my case, nor is there a miscellaneous option.

What is the best way to get a letter showing my rejection reason? Any lead will be appreciated. Thanks!
