F2 visa got rejected

Please help me understand why did my visa get rejected. My husband and I got married in February of this year, he has been in the US since 2022, completed his postgraduation in 2023 and started working as a Data analyst.
I was asked whats the purpose of my stay, where did my husband completed his graduation, when did I get married, what am I doing..
I would also like to mention that currently I’m unemployed so I answered im a homemaker.. I got a feeling that this made the officer make up his mind to deny my visa

Although amonst atleast 50 applicants, i saw only 5-6 people’s visa application getting accepted..

Please suggest when can I reapply since I really want to be with my husband, we finally got married after 6 years of long distance. How can I make my case stronger

Dropped out in Pakistan, <1 GPA, aiming for US Community College but terrified of F-1 visa rejection. Need brutal, practical advice (Backups: Ireland, CAN, AUS).

Hey everyone. I need some harsh reality checks and practical advice.

I’m a 21M from Pakistan. About a year and a half ago, I dropped out of my Bachelor's (CS) at a local university. I had this grand vision of building digital businesses and hustling, but I ended up falling into severe depression and overthinking. Alhamdulillah, I’ve recovered, locked back in, and I’m actively building tech/AI skills now, but my academic record is a mess.

Because of my mental health and dropping out, my transcript from that university shows a GPA of <1.0. I recently took the SAT a couple of times but couldn't break past 840. Transferring to a decent 4-year US university right now is basically impossible. Meanwhile, my old batchmates are graduating next year. It stings, but I absolutely refuse to finish my Bachelor's in Pakistan. I need to study abroad.

My Plan A (USA):
My main priority is getting into a US Community College (looking at Lone Star or HCC in Texas), putting my head down for 2 years, and then transferring to a 4-year university (like Univ. of Houston).

The problem: I am terrified of the F-1 visa interview. I’m seeing high-achieving Pakistani students with full scholarships to prestigious universities getting rejected. What are the actual chances for a 21-year-old dropout with a 2-year gap and a low GPA applying to a CC? How do I even justify this to a Visa Officer without sounding like a flight risk?

Plan B (Ireland & Five Eyes):
I cannot put all my eggs in the US basket. If the US visa is a lost cause, I am completely open to Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, or Ireland. I know Ireland accepts Duolingo and has Level 6 (diploma/college) courses. Australia and UK are options, but my 2-year gap might be a red flag for their Genuine Student tests.

My questions for you:

My questions for you:

  1. How do I strategically explain my university dropout and gap years to the US Visa Officer without getting an instant 214(b) rejection?
  2. Is US Community College even worth the visa risk right now for a Pakistani male, or should I immediately pivot my time and money to Ireland/Australia/Canada?
  3. Has anyone here successfully navigated a similar "academic bankruptcy/dropout" situation as an international student?
I’m ready to grind and do the hard work. I just need to know which wall to push against. Any advice from overseas Pakistanis, international students, or visa experts would be deeply appreciated.

Btw that was all my past I really changed a lot discipline and hardwork is now part of me

US VISA Rejected

I would like to understand why my B2 Visa was rejected. I am a Postgraduate student graduating at the end of 2027. I wanted to attend my sister's graduation in the US and to spend some time with family. I will be travelling with my mother who is also not employed. I have travelled to the UAE, Malaysia and Thailand. This was all the information that was asked in the interview. Do i have to be employed in order to get a visa? Should i try reapplying again

How to mention a 214b refusal on DS-160

I was refused F1 visa on May 5th 2026 and I’m filling out a new DS-160, how should I mention the refusal?
Just that I was refused or should I specify since they would know about it anyways.
Also, maybe my confidence was low or the answers were not correct how should I phrase this while my DS-160 remains unchanged.

Edit- I know that it is too soon to reapply or fill the form.
I just want to know how to phrase this rejection.

I am a bit confused

So i went to my visa interview today and my VO was good it went like this
She asked me about what i am about to do and i explained to her nicely that i am pursuing computer eng and will come back to make algorithms for my financial consultancy firm back in Kolkata
Then she asked how much my father makes
( this is where she got a big dubious I’d say ) i said he along with my mom makes about 90 lakhs per annum and she said that’s almost the exact amount on the tuition so i said in addition to that we had more liquid assets and that i can show proof of funds for that and it was a moment of silence then after the she asked if I’d been to the US before i said yes under a B2 visa for 14 days and then she asked about my fathers’ company’s address and i told her then she asked if my social media accs were open and public i said yes and after that she took out a white paper and ticked some boxes and wrote my name under it she said okay your application is under administrative processing and then I followed up with is it 221g and she said yes she kept my passport and my i20. weirdly though I didn’t get that slip for 221g what does that mean ? Is it normal or unusual ?

F1 Visa denied under 214(b)

Got my F1 visa rejected under 214(b) and I genuinely don’t know what went wrong. Looking for honest advice.

Background: • Previous refusal: B1/B2 in Nov 2023 (214b) • Current application: F1 for Master’s at Parsons, NYC • Scholarship: 35% • Already completed one Master’s in Design Management in May 2025 • Currently working as a designer at company xyz

I felt much more confident this time compared to my previous interview. I answered calmly, clearly, and with context, but the VO kept cutting me off midway through most of my responses.

Also, I got the same VO who had rejected me back in 2023.

Questions asked + my responses:

  1. Why US? I said: • The U.S. is globally recognized for emerging technologies and communication design • Parsons is located in New York, which is a global hub for design and innovation

(VO cut me midway)

  1. When did you complete undergrad? May 2021

  2. What have you been doing since then? I said I completed my Master’s and have been working as a designer at company xyz.

  3. When did you graduate from your Master’s? May 2025

  4. Why another Master’s? I explained: • My first Master’s in Design Management focused more on research and strategy • Through my work experience, I realized I need deeper technical expertise in digital/product/interaction design

(Again, cut midway)

  1. Which countries have you visited? Country A in 2010

  2. What does your father do? He runs our family business in xyz.

  3. Who is sponsoring your education? I explained: • My father is sponsoring most of it through income from the family business • I’m also contributing my own savings from work and internships • I received a scholarship worth $XX,000

  4. Which other universities did you apply to? NYIT, Rutgers, NYU

  5. Then the VO looked confused about my I-20 major, which was written as: “Web Page, Digital/Multimedia and Information Resources Design”

She asked what that meant. I wasn’t fully prepared for that wording, so I tried explaining that it was the official classification/category on the I-20 and that my actual specialization/program focus was mentioned under the remarks section.

  1. Where is the school located? New York

  2. Do you have any relatives in the US? I said yes — my cousin lives in San Francisco and works as an engineer at xyz company.

After that, the visa was rejected.

I’m trying to understand what the possible reasons could have been.

Would really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who faced F1 refusals and later got approved. Trying to figure out whether reapplying makes sense and what exactly I should improve next time.
