Why does LHR tend to use 09L for landings and not 09R?

When LHR are running western operations they tend to use either 27R or 27L for landings or take offs. When they're running operations easterly, they tend to use 09L for landings and 09R for departures. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to do the opposite as then aircraft parking at T4 could just exit the RWY right and be at the terminal?

I have a US B2 Visa that expires in December. I went today to apply for a new one which got declined. Can I still travel on my old Visa until December?

Converting GBP to Rubles.

From what I've seen when going to Russia one should go with either USD or EUR and exchange there for Rubles. Is it possible to exchange British Pounds for Rubles in Russia?

If it's not possible, is there a preferred currency to bring between USD & EUR?

33 hours, one flight in the A350-1000

This should not be possible, but is still cool that it is. I flew direct from New Zealand to Port Louis eastward.

The letter "Q" is pointless and can easily be replaced with "K,"

The letter "Q" just seems so useless to me. Firstly, 99% of the time you have to put a "U" after using it. Secondly, it make the alphabet 26 letters, why not just have a nice round 25 letters in the alphabet. Thirdly, it is entirely replaceable with the letter, "K." Here are a few examples.

Aqua -> Akwa
Quack -> Kwack
Squawk -> Skwawk

This works for ever word, it's just unnecessary. Does anyone disagree, I'm beginning to thing that this might not be an unpopular opinion.

Is all the howling in the forests from dangerous animals?

A while ago I was doing a hike from Modiin to Jerusalem, the final stretch was through a forest of sorts. My earphones died in that forest and when I put them back in the charging case I was finally able to hear the surrounding (never wearing earphones on a hike at night again). It was really scary, there was howling, the bushes were moving. I ended up quitting around 1 hr outside of Jerusalem and just ran to the nearest bus stop.

A few people have told me that all those noises come from harmless animals, is this true?
