Random storytime (sort of...?) Lesson: never trust your heroes :D
So, back when I was questioning my sexuality (mostly to be bi, which is what I'm now confident I am), I used to search for content in YT to guide me (as I believe most of us did lmao). Well, there was this one channel by a teen gay boy (His latest videos were from years ago, he would be in his 20s as of rn), he had a video of him coming out to his straight frnds, some videos just talking about relatable funny experiences (and struggles) he ever faced, stuff like that
It's not like I'm in a very homophobic environment at all, but I didn't have any queer or actively supportive people in my close social circle either. And idk, that was one of my first times in my journey of feeling seen, understood, almost read like a book, by another person similar to me. I was so grateful for having found out about that channel...
Then, decided to check the comments under a random video of his... Wish I'd never done that. People were commonly repeating the words "acting", "skills", "program". My blood FROZE - but I couldn't go back now. Eventually, I got to know the whole channel was a project made by some organization and the guy was just an actor... ;-; And yes, ik the intentions and results were exactly what they were expecting, but boy... It did sting, noticing all of that, after actually leaving a small print in my heart, was a facade, a set up, nothing more than a fictional life, fictional experiences, fictional feelings and a fictional channel staged up to deliver a message T-T
Anyways, that's my lesson of the day/night guys. Never trust your heroes, you'll be dissapointed... I usually hate to think ignorance is bliss... But I don't think knowing the truth was worth my heart getting shattered 😭
