ISO online only classes

Hi all—I live in Baja California, and there are no classes available here. We do, however, have excellent internet!

A lovely woman who was moving back to the States left me all of her basket making materials—flat reeds of all types (and a lot of stuff I haven’t tried to identify yet).

The idea was for me to learn and then share the learning with my young Mexican friends. :)

Can you recommend some online classes (I’m happy to pay) that will take me from A to Z?

Thank you so much!!

70lb terrier terrified of vet exams/grooming: alternatives to heavy sedation?

Hi all! Looking for advice on my dog Gal.

Backstory: rescued her at 3 weeks old (mom rejected her). No known trauma, and at home with her 3 housemates she's happy, goofy, and affectionate. We adore her.

She loves car rides (and barking at everything she sees), and she's actually excited to go to the vet; she wants to be everyone's friend. Problem is, since she missed out on litter socialization, she never learned bite inhibition/how to say "no" politely; she goes straight to nipping or biting. (My fault, training-wise; she was my first dog and I didn't know better.)

The actual issue: she panics during vet exams and grooming. We're in Mexico, and our vet won't touch her without acepromazine (a central nervous system depressant) first. I don't love that, and even sedated she's not calm enough to be groomed.

Question: How do I get a 70lb terrier groomed/examined without heavily tranquilizing her every time?

[Update] Kitchen fireplace

Two men have been working on this for the last week. There's an inch-layer of dust on everything in the house, but they're creating a gorgeous piece! We decided to make it mortarless, so each piece has to be cut within an inch of its life, and these are inch-thick solid pieces of rock!

We have another beam to add to the mantel, a wee bit of touch-up, but I could not be better pleased with this!

Thanks for all your comments and help!

What kind of filling?

I am going to have these cushions made, but I need to buy the filling in the States (I live in México). What should I be looking for? The sofa is all wood (assembling as we speak), so we need enough padding to survive a kerplunk after a hard day renovating!

Baja courtyard wall color

We live in Baja California, México, and our best paint is Behr. I am using a deep plum (Behr Virtuoso) for the accents on the raised beds throughout the courtyard and the columns on the front wall, but I’m stumped on a good color for the walls! Ideas?

Woody lavender

So, this poor, neglected lavender needs a haircut. I think. There seems to be new growth coming from below; do I just trim the heck out of this guy and hope for the best?

Sofa cushion colors?

ChatGPT did this rendering of my new sofas in my living room. I’m having the cushions made and will use either Sunbrella or Outdura. I need color ideas! We have four large dogs and five cats, so I’m not sure cream is the best idea. I can add color on the cushions, pillows, or rug (don’t have one yet)

This is an ocean view house with Saltillo tile floors throughout.

Help??

Cushion stuffing material?

I am having two large sofas made—hardwood, no springs for the bottom. I’ll have cushions made for them, as well; casual for the bottom—either one long one or two shorter. Pillows for the back and sides.

I want it super comfy, so my bony tush doesn’t hit wood when I plonk myself down on it. We also have four large dogs who insist on sharing our space, so the covers need to be able to come off easily for washing.

What kind of material do I need to look for for filling, and is there a cushion cover design that doesn’t require five people and a crowbar to get them on and off?

(We live in Baja, but can easily shop in the States, so I’m buying most materials up there)

Thanks for your help!!!

I live in Mexico, and my friend's daughter would like to learn embroidery. I've looked all over Amazon (US and México) and Etsy, and I can't find a kit with instructions in Spanish. I can probably use ChatGPT to create a Spanish version, but aren't there any sources out there already in Spanish? Thanks!!

We live in Baja California, MX, about 40 minutes south of the border. I’m contemplating putting in a couple of raised beds in my front patio for tomatoes and herbs (the dirt part of this courtyard where the blue barrel is). The problem is that we have four large and rambunctious dogs and I have no idea what kind of ground cover to use! I was going to use river rock, but I'm concerned they'll eat the rocks! LOL Thoughts?
