//I recently changed to a new machine with a new operating system, and wanted to transfer my spore save to that new computer. However, i didn't find any good tutorials on how to do this online, so i hope this is somewhat comprehensible, might make this into a yt-video

To transfer all data from one machine to another, you need to transfer BOTH creations and save games. I recommend transferring creations first, as i imagine the game might break if you have save states without the right creatures.

I. CREATIONS

1: GO TO

WINDOWS: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents ; then select a folder named something like "myspore-creations"*

LINUX: /home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/24720/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents ; then then select a folder named something like "myspore-creations"*

*this is because spore creates a new such folder for each language you have played the game in. for example: i have played spore in english, german, and spanish, however, i haven't made any creations in english. Because of this, some creations are in a folder named "Mis Creaciones Spore", some are are in a folder named "MeinSpore-Kreationen" (btw tolles deutsch), but my folder named "My Spore Creations" is made up of empty folders

2: COPY the folders in question, and MERGE them with the equivalent folders on the other machine or if you don't have these folders yet, paste them in the Documents-folder

II. SAVE FILES

1: GO TO

WINDOWS: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Spore

LINUX: /home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/24720/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Spore **

** the number "24720" in the linux version is the Galactic Adventure's APP-ID; to know which APP-ID you should use(e. g. when wanting to do this with a different game or spore version), go to your steam library, right-click the game in question, select PROPERTIES, then UPDATES, there the APP-ID is at the bottom of the page

[Spore's APP-ID is 17390, Creppy& Cute is 17440, Galactic Adventure's APP-ID is 24720]

2: COPY the entire "Spore"-folder

3: MERGE the copied "Spore"-folder with the same folder on your other machine***

*** In this process, some files will exist twice, and because of that will have to be replaced. Replace the new files with the old ones.
