Next I gotta figure out tires. Because it was new old stock, the tire are from 2020 and showing the beginnings of dry rot. Going for a ride tomorrow, we'll see how the specialized power seat odi reflex grips hold up, felt good in the yeard.

Fret Buzz accross 7th fret, looking for root cause. New to this.

Bought a used ESP EC256FM for a decent price. Noticed buzz but figured a setup was needed. Measured everything and found action low, around 1.25mm with little relief in the neck. Since I got this cheap I figured its a good guitar to get started with maintenance and repairs on.

So here's where Im at, buzz is always loudest centralized at the 7th fret accross all strings. Noticeable when fretting 5 and 6 as well but not nearly as loud. I also get a little buzz, not that noticable when fretting 8. I set neck relief with a straight edge and feeler gauge. I tried .006 inches through .012 inches keeping an eye on string action and tuning as I moved along. String height at the nut stays around .75mm through 1mm depending on relief and string height at 12 which I took as high 2.25 mm on the 6th string.

I took the neck straight and took a straight edge to the frets and Im getting some rocking on the 8th fret wire and less on the 10th fret wire. I believe those are high and the root cause of the buzzing. How do I determine lifting vs just high?

Current shop provided boxes, may be moving on. What boxes are worth that dont cost as much as a used car?

I have a Snap On box from what I first started but its gonna be too small. What 70+ inch boxes are worth the money? Harbor Fright hold up?

Techs who dont take responsibility for themselves...

For the second time now a newer tech, younger guy, has blamed me for his mistakes. How do you guys deal with this? I basically spent the rest of the day giving this person the "im too busy to help at the moment" and "did you read the manual" responses. Basically its a hands off his work situation now with this tech. I hate being that way, but my reputation isnt worth it. How do yall deal with these kinds of guys?

Looking for an iPad Chord Trainer

So I have found the iPad to be an amazing tool and dont regret buying one for the purpose of guitar at all. Between being able to load kindle, the spark app and Chord! Its been amazing.

Im feeling the need for a chord trainer similar to whats in yousician. I dont want yousician. The app annoys me. Is there anything similar that just cycles through chords for me to play. Im dont need it to "hear" what Im playing, I just need it to show me a chord, then switch to another.

Tonight was grilling, beer and music. Live merry people.

I got back into guitar back in December after a 8 year break. Since then I sold my my Taylor dreadnaught body style, bought an academy, didnt mesh with it and stuck to my 05 Viper 50 and a recently bought PRS Charcol Burst. Picked up a Zach Myers and have loved it.

BUUUUTTTTT! I need an acoustic in my life. So Ive been playing various ones. Trying around 30 or so. Finally I figured out the body style and type I like. Was torn between a Taylor GS Mini and PRS Lifeson. Then I tried a Yamaha APX600 and was connected to it. I then tried this one, a FCX(?) and imeadately fell for it. It took me back to the Yamaha 12 string I learned on.

It sounds good and has a price point theat I can swallow with how I use Acousitcs.

Cleaned Up My Viper-50 back in 2005

This was the First Guitar I bought with my own money way back in 05 to replace my first guitar, a Carlo Robelli. A temporary storage solution became a long term not good one. I pulled the whole thing down last night and cleaned it. Went as far as oiling the fret board. The intention is to replace the saddle and stop tail, the tuners and to put new Zakk Wylde EMGs in it to replace the ones that I put in it shortly after buying. But all that is if the guitar holds together under string tension. At the moment its holding together fine under the set up I did last night with NYXL 10s. I always strung it up with 10s, so fingers crossed.

This thing carried me for a long time, and since I gotten back into guitar in December Ive been wanting to do this. Hopefully it sticks around for another 20 years.
