T-Mobile has become the thing they said they weren't.
Yesterday my billing cycle closed and I switched to a prepaid service (Metro). I paid off the rest of my phone in the app (it unlocked within minutes which is a mass improvement over the 1-3 days iPhones used to take).
I've been with TMo over 10 years at this point. I only ported one of my lines out, so I made the call to Care to cancel the rest. The first rep I spoke with "tried" to save the lines, but ended up just transferring me to someone else who cancelled everything out. The call took about ten minutes, no hassle and everything was closed out.
I got to meet Callie Field and John Legere back in the day when I worked for Tmo from 2016-2021. I made InCrowd for my site. So many life lessons from my teammates who became friends. I got to finish my bachelor's and get a Master's thanks to tuition assistance.
In 2021, I left the company to go work in the recruiting industry and ended up in the nonprofit world, but it's saddened me to see all of the layoffs and watching as so many of my friends and old coworkers have been affected. Watching as now you can't escape the "upgrade fee" even thru the website or app, and then all the pushing of the cards in store.
In the end, I became just another customer, and T-Mobile another carrier. The end of an era.
