This is now my 4th or 5th mini I’ve painted. Have to say it’s been slow going but I’ve really enjoyed the Crimson fists.

A lot more at than painting imperial fists. Yellow was fine. But so unforgiving. You make a mistake doing say doing the black trim and it’s pretty much strip in iso alcohol and redo.

Conversely, I’ve found crimson fists are challenging for a new painter, but if you take your time you really can do well. Or well enough to be table top good enough.

Hey - have any of you got a list of the colours for the captions chest ropes? And shield?

Looks like retributor armour for the ropes. But I can’t pick the crux on the shield or the red

Taken me about 5 months now of weekend painting to get to this point. Can’t wait to finish a small army now.

My son and I just started 40K. He got the Tau CP, I got the Imperial fists one. This is about 5 months ago. And frankly it’s been more a painting and hanging out activity up till now.

Anyway, we’ve decided we’d like to play a game. And embarrassingly I don’t actually know where to start. I got a tape measure. And some dice. A board and some pretend scenery, as I think I’ll wait for the coloured stuff to come out.

My questions are
- where can I get rules. And can I print these. I don’t want them to go ‘out of print’ or away. We are slow painters!

- also do I need core rules? I just ordered the combat patrol companion btw

I was on here complaining about how I suck at edge highlights. Someone here recommended trying a dry brush.

I’m delighted by this result. Based in chaos black. Three thin coats of kantor blue. Half Nuln oil half Lahmian medium wash. Followed by a caledor sky drybrush.

Hey all, maybe my 5th or 6th model I’ve painted now. And I’m getting a bit frustrated at a wall I’ve hit with edge highlights.

Can I get some feedback on this one?

I guess I’m ultimately looking to push through and finish a combat patrol. So I probably just need to chill out and stop trying to highlight! Or at least just stick with hard edges for a bit.

Side note - I’m finally happy with how I’m doing the eyes!

Going to try a whole squad. Fingers crossed I don’t mess up the eye lenses!

Beginner painter here. Just trying to get a feel for of if I head down the imperial or crimson fists route.

These both are the best I can do right now. And I would appreciate any advice.

In all honesty I probably found the crimson fists a little easier. The black and blue base colours hide a lot of sins.

The yellow does pop however

What’s the go here? How and when can we get this?

When I’m painting imperial fists I normally do a wash of a 1 to 1 mix of casandora yellow and lahmian medium.

What would be the equivalent for crimson fists?

Leviadon blue 1 to 1 with lahmian or contrast medium?

Or Nuln oil mixed with something?

All the signs are pointing to Crimson Fists having a massive rise in prominence this edition.

We’ve got the fresh models for painted up. The arch enemies, the Orcs, is very thematic.

I’d expect Pedro is a few months. And maybe a new book or extended lore mention too.

Plus the decals in the starter set. Shame our brothers, the OG Fists don’t get decals too.

Anyway, what are good books to read? - I’ve just gotten Ryne’s world on Audible.

I’ve got a small problem with perfectionism. And I’m just about ready to chuck another mini in the bin. This guy, I was pretty happy with.

At least until I took a photo and saw how shite the eyes are.

Anyway for what it’s worth I’m super happy with my yellow. And I found that painting the pauldrons is super easy with Tamiya 3mm masking tape!

But the eyes. They’re going to put this mini in the ‘rage out this is crap’ pile

​I was looking at an old codex supplement. Maybe 9th edition. And found this squad of veteran intercessors. Is this not a thing any longer?

Are the only veterans in the current codex: bladeguard, sternguard, and vanguard?

I’m only asking as the white trim is cool as hell.
