Keep talking myself in and out of a P365

I have several Sigs but nothing striker-fired. I keep looking at a Fuse or the DH option but then change my mind.

I have big ol’ paws and for years my favorite carry gun has been a P229 .40 with the chonky Hogue grips and the 365 variants just look and feel so small.

Anybody here ever gone the P365 route and then changed your mind? If so what were you commonly shooting before?

P226 XFive Legion and 20-round magazines

I’m sure I’m just clueless here so hopefully y’all can help me.

I’m in the market for a new pistol and have landed on the P226 XFive Legion after strongly considering the P211 GT5 (yes, I know, very different firearms).

Here’s the thing. Every single retailer I can find, both locally here in the Austin area and the big box stores, only have the option with the three 10-round magazines. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Are the 20-round SKUs just sold out? Obviously this version shows up on the Sig site.

Maybe this is fate telling me I should just say screw it and get the GT5 or drop down to the P226 X Legion instead. The X Legion has the DA/SA option I’ve become really used to as well.

Thoughts? TIA.

Sweet spot for budget tint

My in-laws are about to make a cross country drive from South Texas to North Carolina and are talking about getting their Ford Maverick tinted before they go.

My usual suggestions are kind of out the window since their budget isn’t very high. What would y’all suggest for a non-crap ceramic that won’t break the bank. If I don’t get them into a shop myself there’s a better than average chance my MIL will fall for one of those $99 FB/Instagram ads and I really don’t want that to happen.

Off the top of my head I’m thinking a Global or Geoshield shop.

Model Year change for F150’s

I’m assuming the order books are opening up soon for the 2027 MY trucks. I know some Ford models already show up on the website with a ‘27 option.

Here’s why I’m wondering. A couple weeks ago I got one of those targeted email ads from a local-ish dealership. Nicely equipped ‘26 Lariat 502a PB. They had already taken about $10k off the sticker. It has 13 miles on it.

I decided to look into it because it was the exact truck I wanted when I got my current truck in the middle of all the 2021 Supply Chain shit show. When they called back they took off another $4k but offered $5k less than another dealership on the trade. On Monday I had a chat about the fact that I don’t actually need a truck. It was just pretty and I’d do it for a smoking deal…and their deal was fair but more than I was willing to spend.

Dude has called me every day since. Today he sounded downright desperate. I told him that if they took off another $10-$12k we could have the conversation. Instead of telling me to go away he said he would look into it and get back to me by the end of the day.

Are dealerships already trying to get rid of the ‘26s? I don’t think there’s a big difference from this year to next.

Instead of a new truck I’m getting new tint and swapping out the seats for leather.

How well did she do and how can I calm her down.

ETA: We got her scores from the prep company we've been using.

All,

Our daughter is 15 and a rising junior. Like many she has big dreams and her dream schools include NYU (#1 goal by a large margin), Northwestern, Rice (mom's alma mater), and Michigan (dad's alma mater) with a nod towards UCLA, UCSD, and Duke as well. She's a high-anxiety kid and without putting too fine a point on it mom and dad are both sucessful and have way too much education. We're growth mindset parents but she looks at us, and our lives, and considers that a starting point.

She took the test on Saturday and came out with a 32 composite. 34R/33E/29M. We're having a hell of a time trying to get through to this kid that a 32 is an amazing score, especially for someone who still has over a year of preparing if she wants. Hell, in my mind I'd be calling the ACT done with a 32 but she read somewhere that NYU requires a 34. I find "requires" to be suspect but won't tell her that.

Thoughts on this? Is she being too hard on herself or am I completely out of touch?

F150 defrost lines on re-tint

I’m considering having the film re-done on my ‘21 F150. I reached out to the same guy who did an amazing job on my wife’s car last month.

When I asked him about removing the existing film from my truck he said that the defrost lines on thaw trucks are really fragile and the rear defroster will not work after. Not might. Not maybe. They will be damaged and they will fail.

I’ve never heard this before. I know it’s a risk every time film is removed but an absolute has me wondering.
