Growing up, honestly I didn't know jack about Dominicans. We classified all Hispanics as the same. Most Haitians I knew didn't gaf about Dominicans, I didn't find out about Haitian and Dominican beef until high school. That said, we just Alofoke send a threat to Haitians and we know plenty of Dominicans have the same exact mindset whether they say it loud. So I'm confused, where is the patriotism? Where is the matched energy? I personally don't care if Dominicans hate Haitians, that's their business and right. But I have a huge problem with Haitians not matching the energy and then in the same vein want to scream 1804 this and that. I've even seen Haitians defending Dominicans amidst this incident and plenty of other incidents, what type of sellout bs is that? It's always excuses, sucking up to Dominicans, trying to kiss up. Do Haitian men not realize that a threat like this is the threat to Haitian mothers, daughters, sisters?

Nothing is ever serious in this culture. We have two countries that have had conflict and violence since both of their existences. One of the most popular media figures in DR just said he wants to enslave Haitians and your response is don't give it attention? If the guy is the most popular guy in DR, tf do you think that means? That means plenty of Dominicans agree with his views. This is the same dumbass mentality that people had about Trump, "oh it's just ragebait". If Haitians in DR weren't so pathetic, Alofoke would've been smoked for even opening up his mouth sideways. I tried to give the guy benefit of the doubt but the guy is terrible as an interim leader. You would think the prime minister would try to resemble somewhat of a president while we don't have one but the guy literally has done nothing while being in office. Gangs have gotten worse under him, he's had time to prepare departments for attacks and still hasn't been able to give proper support, hasn't handled the TPS situation at all, he hasn't inspired anyone on Haiti's future at all, he's not making any push to help the wider diaspora invest in Haiti, he's doing nothing. The guy might as well be living in another country the way he's handling things, what exactly is his purpose as prime minister currently?

Curious on this and answers may lie in Dessalines' post revolution decision. That said, I've always heard more Haitian people talk about and revere Dessalines as the father of Haiti than Louverture. On the flip side, when most outsiders think of Haitian revolution, they only know Louverture and that's about it. Why is that? What causes Dessalines to be so revered in Haitian culture but absent in history books and the vice versa for Louverture?

This Cade Cunningham post is the perfect example of revisionist history and selective bias. Cade Cunningham when he got drafted was 6 months to a year older than the top 3 of 26 draft while putting up worse production than all of them. It's funny how for Flagg, all people kept doing was mentioning his age but that argument suddenly disappears for other prospects. We literally heard on this board, by the media, by multiple scouts that Darryn Peterson's comparison is the SECOND greatest shooting guard of all time now all of a sudden Cade Cunningham was a much better prospect than Peterson. We even have people saying that 21 draft was hyped to be the best draft since 03 when that never happened at all. 21 draft was never even viewed as a top draft of the past decade, are people forgetting 17 draft? This board needs to stop this, it's getting pathetic. I saw the same thing with another post with Dante Exum where people were saying he was never compared to Kobe. I'm willing to bet 5 years from now if Peterson doesn't pan out, people will act like the Kobe comparison was never made and downvote to oblivion for even suggesting that it was made.

It's honestly bizarre. Take "Yo Kase Tet DG A", this song has been out for a year and has always been a banger, shoot Afriken had Tchanmse blowing up the summer as well but the song never even got any recognition until Dominicans and Cape Verdeans started playing it then all of a sudden, everybody wants to listen. And this isn't a one time phenomenon, kompa in general been blowing up but I see more of other cultures especially lighter/mixed people getting highlighted for kompa than actual Haitians. Same thing goes for our food and a whole host of other things in our culture where it's completely downplayed or even demonized until someone else of another culture showcases it then all of a sudden it's loved. We had so many people unfairly criticizing Self, acting like he had no clue what he was doing or he had never had highly recruited talent before. Peterson is just a much better off the ball player than on the ball. It had nothing to do with his supporting cast or injuries, Peterson is unable to consistently beat his man, he doesn't shoot well at the rim, doesn't draw fouls at an elite level, takes a lot of contested shots, has a good 3pt shot but honestly not elite, cannot handle the double at all, and struggles with passing, he is NOT an elite level athlete at all. I literally provided numbers and posted multiple threads on this but got downvoted to oblivion. Peterson's numbers after the BYU game were abysmal and BYU was one of the worst defensive teams in college last season who especially struggled against guards. Kansas started to give Peterson the ball more in his hands towards the latter half of the season and his numbers got significantly worse while out his own mouth, he stated that he was healthy.

I think Peterson will be good/great even but right now, a lot of you have Cam Reddish 2.0 syndrome with this dude where you're still talking about high school while the guy has played in college and now summer league. High school is over, Austin Rivers looked like Kobe in high school, that doesn't always translate to the next level.

This whole narrative that Brown is some net negative player is just silly. When his resume in terms of success far exceeds most players in the league by a wide margin. He's been to the ECF 6 times and the year that Celtics won, can't even use the stacked team argument because Porzingis didn't even play for majority of the playoffs even in the Finals, he didn't play fully. Giannis is going on near 6 years since making the Finals and 5 years since even getting out the first round and that includes having Dame who this subreddit swears was better than Brown, Jokic hasn't sniffed the Finals in 4 years. All these stats that people are using but not actually adding up to actual results.

Part of this due to lack of marketing problems. Haitian music is kinda booming right now but the actual artists aren't even seeing the benefits. Afriken's song is literally becoming an international hit and most people don't even realize it's a Haitian artists' song. And on top of that, the song is an old song lol. You even got Dominicans arguing that it's an African song and not Haitian because the song has gotten so popular. Kompa has flooded social media and a lot of people don't even realize that it's Haitian music, I've seen people try to classify it as kizomba, merengue, zouk, rhumba or whatever random genre. Even have African artists sampling Haitian carnival music without giving the proper credit. That said huge opportunity, Joe Dwet File, has started to bridge the gap for the modern era as he tours African countries. My uncles always tell me that Coupe Cloue and Boukman Eksperyans were touring African countries before. I see Klass doing a whole kompa event in Spain or something and just don't get why they can't do that in African countries.

What would be needed to actually boost the HMI in this regard? Again I don't think lack of audience is the issue, think these artists get plenty of views and people have heard their music somewhere but again don't actually know the artist.

Pretty controversial topic but end of the day, there are some areas that have been destroyed by the gangs previously and pretty much will remain destroyed. Any chance of buying these distressed type of properties, I've always wanted to invest in Haiti myself. My family is land but there are disputes on the land (many of you prob have the same experience). My grandmother has a house but doesn't want to sell it to me despite never going there in like 20 years so would like to take matters in my own hands. Obviously, Haitians have been singled out and targeted amongst all immigrants. I do wonder how much of this is an economic attack on Haiti more than anything. There was a tweet by US' official departments, think it was Department of Homeland security. And they had a series of posts about the Haitian diaspora contributing to 20% of Haiti's GDP and they shouldn't be able to do that for whatever nonsense reason. Funnily enough, Haiti was neither the top Caribbean country in remittances nor even close to the top in remittances sent outside the country. So how much of this is just US trying to completely shatter Haitian economy with now 350k diaspora members not being able to work and send money back rather than the illegal immigrant talk track.

It's honestly confusing. I been seeing a lot of new gen Haitian people begging for acceptance constantly, again I am Haitian. Whether it's begging to be considered Latino who don't accept you, begging for acceptance from Africans who don't accept you as African, begging Americans for acceptance, begging other Caribbeans for acceptance. Someone explain because it's getting pathetic. We literally have the most populated country in the Caribbean, tf are you begging for acceptance for? This is what Dessalines fought for? We are Haitian, that's it. It doesn't matter if people want to classify you as something else, doesn't matter if people dislike you for being Haitian, none of that can be controlled by any of. That said, back to the original question, what is causing this seeking/begging of acceptance from damn near everyone?

People don't bother to fact check either. 180,000 likes in literally a day and this narrative is now being pushed all around to the point that people are arguing with actual Haitians about this. This post made up a lie saying that Haiti chose to add Poland to its kit because Poland helped Haiti during the Haitian Revolution. Because of this, you have people now making up history, claiming that Poland helped Haiti because they empathized with the slaves which isn't true, have people saying that the only reason that Haiti is free is because of Poland, have people saying Haiti wiped the Polish out after "they saved them", have people saying that FIFA took the "Polish" flag off the kit due to some woke conspiracy. We all know all of this is lies. We as Haitians need to learn how to take control of the narrative of our history and overall story because we have been plagued by constant misinformation and lies that end up becoming known as the "truth" to others. This is no different, now we have millions of people who believe Haiti put Poland's flag instead of the Haitian flag on the kit and the Polish are the "real reason" Haitians are free. It's ridiculous.

Peterson gets regarded as an elite shooter and some monster offensively yet Acuff outclassed Peterson as a scorer and shooter as well as averaged significantly more assists. Someone explain. Also Peterson is only 2 inches taller than Acuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Acuff ends up best in the draft

New mayor is forcing vendors off of being on every sidewalk, destroying the beauty of the city and contributing to the trash problem. Got car washes and broken down cars on every street. There needs to be strict rules in every city, tf you think you're doing trying to have a market literally every single sidewalk, every single street corner, seen a lady selling underwear on the sidewalk. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up on it (none of my fam ate it either from either side) and it's relatively new to me, discovered it a few years ago. None of the restaurants up here served it until recently. Now I'm seeing big social media campaigns specifically on tomntomn with whole multi city pop ups specifically on tomntomn and that's something that's extremely new. I tasted tomntomn and maybe it was the lady who made it, was just a worse version of fufu and sauce in my opinion. I've heard from my uncles that Coupe Cloue and Boukman Eksperyans were touring in African countries in the past. It's weird how Joe Dwet File has been the only HMI artist currently that has really toured in African countries. HMI complains a lot about money and support but I see no reason why they couldn't make a bag in African countries given how kompa is trending rapidly across Africa. I'm even surprised HMI hasn't been collaborating with more African artists. I've been hearing some African music that's been blatantly Kompa no matter how much they try to deny it, there's one recently from a Tanzanian artist called Finale that is copy paste generic kompa music. HMI could easily widen their fanbase. Thoughts?

We saw Darryn Peterson with the ball in his hands especially end of the season and he looked awful. He didn't know how to handle the double, couldn't get to the rim, settled for contested shots, etc. and this is when he stated that he was the healthiest.

Dude had only two efficient game since the Cincinnati game and that was against Cal Baptist as well as KSU. Other than that, he shot under 40% in 6 out of those 9 final games. Like what are we doing here? Lmao, I'm convinced the Jayhawk jersey is the only reason why Peterson is still getting overhyped because his actual production matches Wiggins and Barrett more than Dybantsa. Can't use the teammates excuse either because objectively speaking Dybantsa had worse teammates, more season ending injuries to teammates as well. And also Kansas beat one of the best teams in basketball without Peterson. The only argument for Peterson at this point is beating Dybantsa head to head because all of the other narratives completely fail. He wasn't a better on ball scorer, he wasn't a better playmaker, he wasn't great on defense either despite Dybantsa weak in this regard, he didn't handle doubles well at all while Dybantsa was doubled and tripled every single game (I actually need to see if this was tracked because I'm willing to bet Dybantsa was the most doubled player in college last year), he wasn't more efficient, he didn't get to the rim as well, didn't get to the free throw line as well (Dybantsa was literally putting up ATG FTR status for a wing), he didn't have a better midrange. he didn't play better than Dybantsa in conference, and he didn't play better than Dybantsa against ranked opponents (which is something Dybantsa was heavily criticized for earlier in the season as well), even the opponents that they played Dybantsa played better against those same opponents, Peterson doesn't even have the footwork of Dybantsa which is hilarious given the Kobe comparison. Peterson's argument is based solely on high school and 3 pt shooting, his 3 point shooting isn't spectacular either.

You switch these two on the opposite team, I don't think the choice would be even close. I think Dybantsa averages better stats than Peterson on Kansas and Kansas makes it further. I think Peterson misses the tournament completely with BYU and his efficiency stats are even worse. And before you even say "they're not the same position", Dybantsa played the 2 for BYU not the 3 and secondary ball handler but most of you didn't actually watch BYU so you wouldn't know that lol. Let's wake it up

I'm just not getting it. We know the capital of Haiti is completely wrecked right now and looks like something out of a Mad Max film. Do people not understand it isn't normal for a capital of a country to be the worst part of a country? Okap is filled with garbage every corner, floods constantly, and can't even handle the amount of people that live there. The gang violence is spreading to other departments very rapidly with attacks pretty much every week with no end in sight, 100s of people die pretty much every weekend and no one even blinks. We even had like 50 people die at Citadelle acting like idiots and people just blinked and moved on like it's normal.. People are clamoring for the airport to open back up, my dad just sent me some protest about it like airlines didn't voluntarily shut down flights to Haiti because they were getting shot at. Haitian people begging for Ishowspeed knowing damn well the infrastructure isn't set up to handle someone that big. Our soccer team can't even practice in Haiti. Idk if misery has been so long that our standards have just completely dropped so low that the whole country is starting to look like cite Soleil and we consider it "safe and fine" So maybe someone can fill me in, knowing that 350k Haitians are begging for TPS because they consider unsafe and dangerous, why exactly is there a massive push by Haitian people and Haitian diaspora alike through multiple channels including social media that Haiti is somehow safe and it's "just PaP" yet none of these folks want to relocate back to Haiti?

It doesn't make any sense to me and just seems like self sabotage. Because these same people will be upset if US and other countries turn up deportations off of this safety narrative being pushed by Haitians. Please help explain.
