New Fairing

Completed this mockup so I’ll have better windchill protection. There are four molds.
Just switched windshield cowling this morning, you might have noticed the photos don’t match. It performed well this morning, easily controllable in 17MPH winds.
Using clear epoxy resin. There might be some LED lights I’d like to put inside to make it glow.
Plug molds are insulation pink board. I used Saran Wrap for the mold release since I want to test fit the four molds first, Im not in any hurry to finish the project, I’d like to transfer the fairing to a new bike and junk the bike it’s 4 years old and has 5000 miles on it, the rear is rigid; no shocks.

Fairings & Panniers

It’s nice to have fairings and panniers. Fairings give me stereophonic sound, a beverage bar, windchill protection, camera swivel mounts, and turn signals all in a 16” fiberglass cube.
As an adjunct professor sometimes I am tempted to do the students project for them, because none of them seem to know how.
Aerodynamics of the Kammback Tailbox contributes to wattage reduction. We built a Kammback in 2019 but it’s getting worn looking, so we built another one.
The bike attempts to gain the weather protection and 55MPH legal status of a Velomobile.
Earlier this year we built four fiberglass fairings, each used a quart of epoxy resin. The Tailbox we built this weekend used up a sheet of 5mm Honeycomb Polypropylene.
In my opinion the fairing should be fiberglass to be aerodynamic, but the rear is better in flat boards of honeycomb for the most part.
It’s a mountain bike given some enhancement to cargo bike use, but it’s not a true cargo bike.
It’s time for the engineering students to seize the means of production.

Headlights Connect

Repost with new photos. Pulled the controller out of the downtube. Plugged it in and it lights up. The controller was wedged in with black foam. Light for interior of tube is a green laser. The bike has auxiliary lights on a 12 volt LiFePO so I wasn’t in much danger yesterday. There is a Fairing support and electrical rack , and I moved the headlamp 8” forward, so it took away slack from the cable.
Had the bike four four years and 4,100 miles. I did replace the rear tire , it had a tiny cut in the center of the tread and it would not hold the 85psi thar I run on. The new Schwalbe has a more rugged tread pattern closer to the front tire, which is a different brand on the delivery model that they sell in Queens.

Headlight Connection

The headlight came unplugged, but the plug is inside the downtube. Do you have any tips? I don’t want to rip out the wrong wire if I pull.

Fighter Jets

I found the picture of the Marine AV-8B in front of the marine barracks. Also the RA-5C on a pedestal in front of mess hall. We learned on the F-4 Phantom as shown. The A-7 was still in use.

Garage Sale Haul

I don’t use traditional panniers . Acquired a belt sander and a circular saw, new sander old saw.
The panniers are honeycomb Polypropylene and I was wondering if anyone uses Honeycomb Polypropylene in their panniers.
I don’t know how you’d carry this stuff in a zippered bag.
