First 3 games I should buy on Switch?

Finally decided to buy a Switch. I have a 10, 9, and 6 year old. Decided on switch bc I want them all to be able to play at the same time and maybe when they have a couple friends over.

What are the first 3 games I should buy? Advantage goes to 4-player games.

My thought is:

  1. Mario Kart
  2. Smash Bros
  3. Mario Odyssey

I was split be Mario and a Zelda game but figure Mario may be more interesting for the kids. I’d also like to play sometimes alone when kids are in bed. Personally, I like mature shooters but figure I’d focus on the kids initially.

What do you think my first 3 games should be?

Which console to buy?

I need help choosing the best console.

My last console was N64. I’m 41M with 4 kids, ages 10, 9, 6, and 2. They’ve shown interest in video games and I’d love to get back into them.

The last time I played video games was an N64. Loved goldeneye, smash bros, MarioCart. Never really liked Zelda. It’s been so long that I’m kind of lost on what to buy and what options there are.

My 6 year old is obsessed with Minecraft.

I like shooter games and have always wanted to play God of War and Call of Duty, or games like that.

I know some people have two systems but I just can’t bring myself to buy two systems outright.

My inclination is PlayStation or Switch. Xbox came out after I left video games so the brand-recognition just isn’t there for me. Downside to PlayStation is no legacy titles that kids love. Downside to Switch is I don’t think they have good shooters.

Which console should I buy and why?

Phones when kids come over

Can I take phones away from kids that come over?

I have a 10, 9, 6, and 2 year old. We have decided that our kids will not have phones until they are 16. My 10 and 9 year olds do have smart watches for texting/calls for when they are away, but they can’t use social media/internet and texting friends is pretty onerous on a smart watch.

My problem is when other kids come to the house. They all have phones and they come over and sit on the couch just staring at their phones. They do the same thing at playgrounds. It makes us not want to have kids over, but other kids parents are always asking if their kids can come over.

Can I tell their parents that we are a “no phone” household and take the phones away while they are at our house, and ask the parents to call/text is of any issues? I’ve tried asking the kids, but they just can’t resist pulling it out all the time.

Right ACL and medial meniscus repair tomorrow.

How much pain can I expect?

What are some benchmarks in my recovery, ie when can I do stair, walk, ride a bike

What were you prescribed for post-op pain?

Right now, I'm assuming I'll be non-weight bearing but getting around slowly basically right away. Stair with difficulty right away. Walking in a week.

I've had issues with post-op pain before, I don't drink, no THC, no drugs, but I think I have a high med tolerance (I actually stopped drinking basically because I needed 3-4 drinks to get a buzz, and drinking that much in one sitting is a bad look).

Hi, I'm trying to book a round-trip flight with my family. There were lots of options, but I wanted to check with my wife. I came back the next day and the choices were far more limited.

I then went to Southwest, and all the flight choices were still there. I called Chase to book through an agent, but he had the same limitation as I did onloine.

I started messing with one-way trips, and found that all the options were there. I also started changing the flight dates, and that affected the choices (ie, Return flight options for Monday-Friday were different from return flight options Tuesday-Friday, similar with departing flights).

When I look at one-way flights, all the options are there.

What's up with this? I want to use points and my $500 SW voucher, so I have to use Chase. Do I just book each flight one-way?

Hi, non-Mormon here. I live in a heavy-Mormon neighborhood. I'm friends with them. Two of my friends' families are moving a short-distance away. Doesn't make sense - similar houses, 5min away, and they plan on keeping their kids in the same school.

Someone told me that they wanted to change churches due to drama, but the only way to do that is to move. Is there any truth to this?

Hi, anyone have thoughts on Gilbert Christian School and how it compares academically to ALA and public schools?

How do class sizes compare?

My kids were in public school. We were fine with it, but had some teacher issues and were concerned about the class sizes (30/class). We applied to ALA and GCS and got into both. Focusing on academics, how do they compare?

ALA has a great academic rep. When people talk about GCS, they tend to focus on Christian education instead of academics. I have friends at both, and everyone likes both. GCS has small classes, seems like 16-20. ALA seems more like 30.

Thoughts of how the academics and class sizes compare at ALA and GCS?

Edit:
-Please no political opinions.
-I’m really just interested in the quality of the academics. Would love to hear from people with personal experience with either school
-Please no Christian or Mormon bashing unless it has to do with the quality of education
