Looking for advice on certifications/skills that can genuinely accelerate my career

Hi everyone,

I’m about one year into my professional career, and I’m at a point where I want to be more intentional about the skills and certifications I invest my time in.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to work across both AI/ML and Microservices teams. On the AI side, I’ve worked with areas such as LLMs, fine-tuning, guardrails, SLMs, transfer learning, and reinforcement learning. On the development side, I’m working with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Postman.

Going forward, I’d like to move more strongly toward AI Engineering / GenAI + Cloud, while still building on my backend and distributed-systems experience.

I keep hearing recommendations around AWS, Azure, GCP, cloud certifications, AI certifications, MLOps, Kubernetes, etc. — but honestly, there are so many options that it’s difficult to figure out which ones actually have career and salary impact versus simply adding another certificate to the résumé. 😅

For people who have already gone through this stage of their career:

\-Which certifications would you genuinely recommend for someone with my background?

\-Should I prioritize AWS/Azure/GCP, or focus more deeply on AI/ML + MLOps?

\-Which certifications or skills are currently valuable for moving toward AI Engineer / ML Engineer / GenAI Engineer roles?

\-Are there any paid courses or platforms you would strongly recommend if they provide practical, industry-relevant learning?

\-If you were one year into your career again, what would you learn or certify in over the next 12–18 months to maximize career growth and earning potential?

I’m not particularly interested in collecting certifications just for the sake of it. I’d rather invest in 2–3 high-value certifications/skills that complement my existing experience and can actually help me move into better AI/cloud roles and increase my earning potential.

Would really appreciate recommendations from people who have been in a similar position.

Looking for advice on certifications/skills that can genuinely accelerate my career

Hi everyone,

I'm about one year into my professional career, and I'm at a point where I want to be more intentional about the skills and certifications I invest my time in.

Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to work across both AI/ML and Microservices teams. On the Al side, I've worked with areas such as LLMs, fine-tuning, guardrails, SLMs, transfer learning, and reinforcement learning. On the development side, I'm working with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Postman.

Going forward, I'd like to move more strongly toward A Engineering / GenAl + Cloud, while still building on my backend and distributed-systems experience.

I keep hearing recommendations around AWS, Azure, GCP, cloud certifications, Al certifications, MLOps, Kubernetes, etc. - but honestly, there are so many options that it's difficult to figure out which ones actually have career and salary impact versus simply adding another certificate to the résumé.

For people who have already gone through this stage of their career:

- Which certifications would you genuinely recommend for someone with my background?

- Should I prioritize AWS/Azure/GCP, or focus more deeply on Al/ML + MLOps?

- Which certifications or skills are currently valuable for moving toward Al Engineer / ML Engineer / GenAl

Engineer roles?

- Are there any paid courses or platforms you would strongly recommend if they provide practical, industry-relevant learning?

What are the best courses to follow in plural sight ?

Hi everyone,

I recently got access to Pluralsight through my company, and I’m fairly new to the platform. I’d appreciate some guidance on how to make the most of it—particularly on where to start, how to structure my learning path, and which courses or learning resources would be most valuable.

A little about my background: I have an intermediate-level understanding of AI/ML, including LLMs, model fine-tuning, guardrails, SLMs, transfer learning, and reinforcement learning. On the development side, I’m currently working with Java, Spring Boot, and Postman.

I’m looking to use Pluralsight to strengthen my existing skills while also learning something that complements my current work and helps me progress toward more advanced AI/ML and software engineering roles.

If anyone has experience with Pluralsight, I’d really appreciate recommendations for specific courses, learning paths, skill assessments, or mentors that would be a good fit for my background.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Prep can be started now ? I’m 22 cooperate worker

I am a classic cooperate worker 2pm-12am roughly are my work timings. I sleep around 1-2am unwinding from work and all. Waking up 10am in the morning again same loop. Do I like my job ? It’s comfortable mostly WFH, Ohk salary, plus I am in only 1yr soooo.

Other than this I am a MTech student in a tier 3 college it’s my 2-1 now but I will be done with exams this sem. Idk why I am doing it but the college doesn’t have any credibility. So few days does to my mids sems and stuff.

Remaining time my friend started a startup sort of thing so 2hrs min goes there. The startup is not showing much results also since April

I wanna really do MBA but I am dumb as well I pretty much forgot the aptitude math and math is not my strong pursuit. I wanna prove myself that I can do CAT and get into a good college. How to reach it ? I am quite not sure HOW? From WHERE? To study ?. How to stay motivated through out the journey even if the results are slow at the start ?

It feels childish to ask but any help is appreciated

4 months into my first FTE: Backend role, AI aspirations, and struggling to grow professionally

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some career guidance from people who may have been in a similar position.

I'm about 4 months into my first full-time role at a fintech company after graduating with a B.Tech in AI/ML.

During college, I worked on AI projects involving LLM fine-tuning, guardrails, end-to-end applications, and have some exposure to AWS Bedrock. I enjoyed working in AI and always imagined building my career in that space.

My current role, however, is focused on Java, Spring Boot, Postman, maintaining services, and API testing. I'm learning backend concepts, which I know are valuable, but I'm unsure whether this experience will help me transition into AI engineering or research later on.

Another challenge has been connecting with my team. Most of my teammates are consultants working remotely from different locations, while I'm a full-time employee. I'm naturally introverted, so I find it difficult to start conversations and build professional relationships. I feel like I'm missing out on opportunities to learn simply because I don't interact much.

Long term, I'd like to work on AI systems, LLMs, or even explore quantum computing, but I also don't want to rush into switching roles if gaining backend experience now will be beneficial.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have been through something similar:

Is spending a year or two in a backend-heavy role a good foundation before moving into AI engineering or research?

How do you build relationships and learn from teammates in a mostly remote team if you're naturally introverted?

What skills or projects would you recommend focusing on outside work to stay competitive for AI roles?

If you successfully transitioned from backend to AI, what did your roadmap look like?

Thanks in advance. I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions.

22F - Need Advice and Guidance. Feeling a bit lost?

Hey everyone,

I'm about 4 months into my first full-time role at a fintech company after completing my BTech in AI/ML.

During college, I worked on basic to intermediate AI projects like LLM fine-tuning, training, guardrails, end-to-end pipelines, and have some exposure to AWS Bedrock. AI is something I genuinely enjoy and want to build my career around.

Right now, though, my work is mostly Java, Spring Boot, Postman, maintaining services, and testing APIs. I'm definitely learning, but it doesn't feel like the direction I imagined for myself.

Another thing I'm struggling with is connecting with my team. Most of them are consultants working remotely from different locations, while I'm a full-time employee. I'm naturally shy, so I find it difficult to start conversations or build relationships. I know having good connections at work helps you grow, but I honestly don't know where to start.

Long term, I'd love to move into AI engineering, research, building and scaling AI systems, or even quantum computing since I've explored the basics and find it fascinating.

I'm also not very satisfied with my current CTC, so I've been thinking about looking for remote work or side opportunities to help cover my expenses while continuing to learn.

For people who've been in a similar situation:

* How did you build connections with a remote/distributed team if you're naturally introverted?

* Should I continue gaining backend experience for now, or start actively switching toward AI roles?

* How can I realistically prepare for AI research/engineering roles while working full-time?

* Are there any legitimate remote opportunities for someone with my background and experience?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!
