Opinion on Project highrise?

After hearing that this title was on iPad, and being nostalgic for old SimCity games, I've always wanted to try SimTower, so I'd like to know this community's opinion on Project Highrise. Reviewers have mostly covered this game on release, and on pc, I'd like to know if the iPad version is worth it, and if the game itself is worth it.

Any new Hybrid smartwatches?

I'm more of a fan of traditional-looking watches, but I love the features of smartwatches. A few years back, I used a Fossil hr, but support for it stopped, and I don't want a "square-screen" watch. Does anyone know of any new watches with traditional watch parts?

I'm Instantly Less Persuaded When Someone Starts an Argument with "The Human Brain..."

Science and statistics YouTubers or vloggers will sometimes try to convince you of something they believe using arguments based on studies and logic. That being said, there are many times they will argue that since your human mind is limited, you will never truly understand the "Benefits" of what they are arguing for.

This is often used in politics or in university lectures. The speaker will claim that we can't necessarily understand this because of our biological limitations. All I hear is "I get this, but you're too dumb to reason beyond your monkey brain." This feels like a subtle attack on your intelligence, almost as if they will try to convince you that if you don't think they're right, even though they may not be trying to insult you, it can be used rhetorically to imply that disagreement comes from a cognitive defect rather than a genuine difference in values, evidence, or reasoning

Comments like:

  • "Your brain just isn't wired to understand this..."
  • "Humans naturally can't grasp the exponential growth of..."
  • "Your brain makes you think that..."

This type of argument is used frequently on older TED talks, where the speaker is truly trying to force the audience into believing their claims. Why not find a reason for them to believe you other than resorting to this bullying? Even if the claim is backed up by neuroscience, there is definitely a reason why you believe it, even with the same brain.

This argument can make people you are trying to find common ground with feel dumb. Using these types of arguments may alienate the person who you are talking to.

Do you actually want Super Metroid remake?

Personally, I'd rather have a new entry with new mechanics than a remake of a game that I consider to be ageless. While it would still be cool for new people to enter the fandom, I truthfully feel like the original is really easy to get into, and I think a new "Engine" would be pointless.

Nintendo has recently announced plenty of remakes this year, including the Zelda remake, even though we still don't know if it will be a reskin or will have actual changes. The Super remake would probably be one in the Metroid Dread engine, but this doesn't have the 16-bit charm, which the whole game is designed upon. How do you feel about this?

Is anyone else considering quitting due to the current state of gaming?

Every year, more of my old favorite franchises are ruined by some strange new direction. Usually is a buggy or unplayable version, but most recently it's the fact that most games that are coming out are created to make you pay as much as possible (gatchas). Gaming just seemed like a simpler hobby, but now I'd rather pay to go go-karting with friends than choose a game that you're forced to get the "Full online experience". Does anyone else feel this way?

Any performance mod pack?

SimCity 4 is still my favorite city builder, but every generation or new pc I buy requires significant fine-tuning of this game to play it as intended. My go-to mods are the quicksave button remover and NAM (4 GB patch).

Does anyone know of a pack of mods that we could use to optimize this game more quickly?

Are there any future plans for apple intelligence?

After getting a new iPad, I've been exploring Apple Intelligence, but it's a bit lacking right now. Image playground in the notes app was fun though. Since I don't follow Apple News (recent Android convert), I would like more information from experts!
