Did We Lose Power This Weekend?

Pour one out for me fellas, times have been hard recently, and they just got a whole lot tougher...

Saturday morning we left for a trip down to carlsbad, we came back last night around 10ish. Upon opening our deep freezer this morning, we lost all of our frozen food...

Did something happen the past couple of days? Did we lose power or something? Or was this just the best example of "when it rains it pours possible"?

What's The Point of Seals?

Are there any decks that are considered viable that actually run full playsets of seals? To me, they seem like a waste of space in the main deck compared to what they offer (not needing to recycle a rune)

CMV: The Seals Are Utter Trash

On paper, the seals all make sense. They are Riot's answer to things like Sol Ring or The Mind/Soul Stones in MTG. However, the problem stems from the differences between MTG's Mana and RB's Energy/Power System.

In MTG Mana is single-use, if you tap a creature like Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves, you get 1 Green Mana floating. In Magic, you can use this on either a green mana cost, or a colorless mana cost. This is not the case in RB. In RB, mana is dual-use, where it exhausts for energy, and recycles for power. It's also very important to note that these are NOT interchangeable, energy can not be used to pay a power cost, and vice versa.

Because of this, the seals are effectively trading a card in your main deck (which is already small compared to things like MTG standard) for the ability to not have to recycle a rune. But with only 12 runes in a deck, and drawing 2 per turn, losing a rune to a recycle isn't worth the trade off of losing a card in my main deck.

The Anti-Doomers are Becoming Worse Than The Doomers

Long time lurker, rarely contributer. I joined the sub when the protests first happened in January and in March when Trump and Netanyahu told the Iranian people "stay safe, stay indoors, help in on the way". Now If I'm being honest, I never had high hopes for the war. I am firmly entrenched in the belief that you can not overcome an Islamist Regime without essentially removing all Islamists from the regime.

But then the first few days happened, and The Ayatollah, and more than half of the IR's leadership vanished. We still haven't even seen the new Ayatollah, not even in doctored photos to make it look like he's physically capable of leading Islamist Republic.

Then the dust settled from the initial onslaught and it became apparent:

>There was no clear and consistent path between Israel and The US in what the objectives of the war were, or even how to best carry out those objectives.

This isn't unexpected, however, as anyone who remembers the 12 Day War and Trump's "They don't know what the hell they are doing" quote on live TV knew that Israel and The US were allies by convenience.

But that isn't the problem, at least not for us that aren't actively participating on the war. The problem, for many of us outside viewers, is copium is a hell of a drug, and people are abusing it to the detriment of the reality of the situation.

So I will just come out and say it outright:

  • If you see Jews in California try to say they know the situation on the ground - they don't.
  • If you see Brits claiming that they are able to see the 5D chess play out and know for a fact that the IRGC will fall - they can't.
  • If you see people claiming to work for the "Department of War" - they don't.
    • Also, a side note, as someone who did serve in the Military, DoD, DoE, and DoL. No self-respecting members of the DoD refer to it as the DoW, if you see someone use that in a non-official capacity, they are fake.
  • ALL Media Sources (both Western and Saudi/Qatari operated) have a bias toward their targeted audiences.

I don't want to get your all hopes up, but I'm just tired of seeing non-Iranians pretend they know the situation better than those currently living in Tehran and the rest of the country. To the actual Iranians in Iran, I'm sorry how the war ended up, I genuinely wanted a secular Iran. But we need to accept the reality that regime change (regardless whether or not it was a goal at any point during the war) will not come as a result of the 12 Day War, nor this one.

Regime change will be bloody, and it will only come from those within Iran. You can not bomb away an ideology.

I Hate When Racism is Openly Celebrated Instead of Being Shut Down Immediately

Something, something, the paradox of intolerance. Worst part is some of these aren't even pretending to hide it, just outright saying it. (Also, fuck the sub rule about no name and shame).

Also what is up with a two hundred character minimum? Now we need to justify why we hate something? Come on mods, no one reads the body text of these posts anyway.

Anyone Make the Switch from MGIB to Post 9/11 Post COVID?

Might be dating myself, but when I was in bootcamp the Post 9/11 was still a "it might be better, but might not" and we were "recommended" to select the MGIB and worse case scenario switch later on if it's better.

Well, here I am 6 years post EAS and I'm thinking I should probably make the swap before I forget and end up losing the freaking benefit that I cared so much about in the first place.

Has anyone gone through the process recently? Is it pretty simple to do solo? Or should I head to the VA and talk to their reps about it?

Is Upskirting Women Taken as a Joke in Japan?

I might be dating myself with the examples, but back in the 90s-2010s, it seemed almost normal for women to flash their underwear with an upskirt shot in Japanese Anime.

The Big 2 I can recall off the top of my head are

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion - When Asuka Langley is introduced on the deck of an aircraft carrier, a sudden gust of wind lifts up her skirt, revealing her underwear to Shinji and someone else I can't remember.
  • Pokémon (Kanto) - In the original Japanese opening, Pikachu is seen running under a (canonically called) Lass' skirt while the lyrics playing are "You can find Pokémon just about anywhere, through dirt, grass, or even up that girl's skirt (eek!)"

Then of course there's tons of clips of it in more modern Anime as well (see this post when I was trying to find the clip of Asuka)

So I'm wondering, is it considered a joke to upskirt women in Japan? Do they (the women being upskirt) find it a joke as well? Or is this more-so long stretching misogyny and trying to festishize sexual harassment?
