What would you prefer - Germany or Netherlands - or any other EU country - to settle down permanently?
I’m currently in Ireland, and I don’t want to make it my permanent home due to some personal reasons. My company is ready to move me to any other EU country (if they have an office there). My top choices are Netherlands and then Germany. Whichever I chose, I want to settle down there permanently as I’m now 30+ and want to look forward to other things in life. I want to know which one would you guys prefer and if there’s any other country that you feel is nice to settle down. So, please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Feeling a bit weird in my stomach since I woke up this morning.
I woke up this morning at around 8:30 am and started scrolling reels while still in bed. I saw the news about Sonam Wangchuk being taken to the hospital forcefully. I suddenly felt something shift in my stomach. May be it was a fear that came true. A fear that my country no longer appears like a democracy. A fear of what will happen next. Will they pass a bill making protests illegal? Will they make it illegal to have an anti-establishment opinion? Will they arrest anyone for speaking against them? Will they arrest me for not supporting the bjp? Will they come after me and my family for not voting for bjp? The future of my country looks very very very dark to me.
It feels like the medieval age again when Galileo was persecuted for saying the earth is not the centre of the universe. It feels like I’m back in the same period when the church opposed evolution theory.. Or anything the science said at the moment. It feels like we’re back in the same times when you could get killed for disproving religious ideologies through science. It feels like the same age again when India was oppressed by the Mughals and the common man at that time would dream of a free India and a better India. It feels like the same age again when India was oppressed by the Britishers, and a free India and a better India was just a dream of the common folk. I dream the same dream today.
And the sad part is that the state of our country has not come to this under bjp alone. Every government in power ends up doing the same atrocities. They will do everything they can to stay in power except what needs to be done for the betterment of this country. Power makes you lose your conscience. And a non-violent protest is of no use if those in power have no conscience. If a new government gets elected, they will end up doing the same things all over again. People will keep electing them for 2-3 terms and then get fed up of their rule and choose bjp again. That’s what happened in 2014. This cycle will keep repeating. Once in a blue moon, I will hear on the news that a new guy has come to power (Kejriwal and Vijay), and he’s doing something good. But sadly, they will too end up becoming the same as their predecessors.
I accidently ordered 100 pieces of anti-static bag from Amazon but I only needed two. Any ideas what can I do now? Not eligible for return.
I wanted two anti-static bags to keep my gpu and motherboard while travelling. Now I have 98 extra bags with no clue what to do with them. Please help.
Flying into Ireland with used pc parts. Unsure of my approach and the security checks. Need advice.
Hi, I'm flying into Ireland from Singapore with used parts from my gaming pc. After plenty of research, I've decided to ditch the pc case and monitor. I'm only carrying GPU, Motherboard (with CPU, RAM, and SSD attached), liquid cooler, PSU, and USB peripherals.
I've placed my motherboard in an anti-static bag and then in a bubble wrap. Did the same with GPU. Liquid cooler and PSU are in a bubble wrap. All of these are packed in between my winter clothing inside my check-in luggage.
I have a layover in Abu Dhabi (Etihad). What are the chances that my baggage can be stopped and checked for these parts during the journey, or worse - these parts can be taken off the flight from my baggage due to security concerns? Is my packing approach correct? Any advice or tips are much appreciated.
EDIT: Thanks so much who’ve commented. Your advice really helps. I’m definitely more confident now. Cheers!
Told my parents to stop looking for proposals. F everyone.
They have still not stopped looking, but I have stopped entertaining them when they do. I’ve come to realise that arranged marriage is not for me. It should not be for anyone. It’s just a toxic process built by patriarchs and being carried on by brainless spineless people. I’m 30M and I see people my age and younger so excited about arranged marriage like wtf man.. So many things are wrong with this process.. It’s like you’re not marrying the person.. You’re marrying the family.. The whole reasoning behind marriage is f’ed up in this process. People are being told to marry for property, good income, foreign job, family status, class, etc. What happened to marrying for love? Nope, that comes last in this process. Feel sorry for the people going through this process and hate the people encouraging it.
Best phone-case combo. Feeling proud.
Finally upgraded from 13 to 17 pro. I need to pat myself on the back for choosing this case. It goes so well with the deep blue phone. It's from Daily Objects (an Indian brand).
Is this normal in consulting?
I joined a big4 firm in EU 8 months ago. The work culture is terrible. I’m on a month-long annual leave and I’m being asked to take an introductory call with a client for a tender we recently won. I’m scheduled to start working on that project the day I return from leave. What should I do?
