Got some CDs

It's nice to have some physical media. I especially love the PC98 music, hopefully I can get all the CDs (they are all on Spotify, but still).

Built the Falcon girl - is there a model kit of the Falcon mech?

When I got this kit I didn't even know it was for a game. I like gunpla, so now I kinda want a regular mech Falcon to match her. I see there's an action figure of it, but that's a bit pricey compared to a model kit.

Quick Sheik Mainland Fenrir kitbash

First time trying a Sheik Mainland kit, and I immediately used it for kitbashing. It's so cheap I had to try. Not at all compatible with 30mm or 30ms joints, the only one that actually fit was the pegs on the thighs. But I still had to add some parts and sand the thighs so they would fit in the armor piece. The arm balljoints are almost twice as big as the standard 30ms one, and instead of spending ages to sand them, I decided to use the torso as a backpack. Overall I like the end result, and I have 2 more of these kits in different colors to try.

Girlpla photography - phone vs old digital camera?

I dug up an old digital camera I had laying around, a Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd from almost 20 years ago, and decided to see how it compares to my regular iPhone 13.

For the Miku pics, I much prefer the Fuji, for Gourai I think they are pretty comparable. Obviously the camera wins on macro shots, because the regular iPhone 13 has no macro mode. The lighting is the same for both, and they are on automatic settings, but I turned on super macro mode on the Fuji. Adjusting the lighting could have helped the iPhone probably.

Overall I like the Fuji, because I think it makes better pics with minimal setup. I think I can take good photos with the phone too, but I have to fiddle with the lighting way more.

Which ones do you prefer? 1st pic for each angle is the Fuji, second is the iPhone.

Emma is here to show off her Motocompo

Finished the other collab kit, now I can stop motocompoposting.

This was also fun, and it being a Sousai kit it had more stuff in the box, 4 skirts, 2 bodies, 2 heads and some accessories. There was only one printed face, but the kit has 4 blank faces and the decals are included this time, so no compalints there.

Also Emma is smol.

Alice with Motocompo finished!

It was a fun build. My only complaint is that there's just one printed face and there are no decals included for the 3 blank faces. Now to build Emma, that collab kit has much more stuff in the box. I added the gun at the end for fun as there aren't any accessories for this kit other than the helmet (I forgot to take pics with it).

Kotobukiya x Honda collab WIP - Motocompos done

Not really girpla (I'm building the girls from the kits now), but I thought I'd share the Motocompos that come with the Megami and Sousai collab kits, in case anyone was wondering. Though I guess most people will be more interested in the girls, I'll post again when I complete them (then I'll be done with Motocompoposting I swear).

Anyway, these are basically the same as the Aoshima kits, just with some different colors. Interestingly the collab bikes use gray instead of black. There are some comparison pictures, the yellow one is the regular Aoshima kit.

The new tires are a pretty nice improvement compared to the chonky tires on the OG.

The bike comes in a smaller white box whitin the printed box. It has its own instructions, which is almost the same as the normal Aoshima one, except the color guide is removed. Instead, the color guide for the bike is in the girpla instructions.

Other than these yeah it's a reguar bike kit. Vinyl pipes are the bane of my existence. At least one peg will always break...

Anyway, looking forward to the Puni x Monkey kits later this year.

Aoshima Honda Motocompo attempt #1 and #2

The red one was my first attemp at painting with an airbrush, and I decided to try again with yelllow. Painting gloss varnish is hard, but I messed up a bit less with the yellow one I think.

Buster Doll Jousting

They're bamboo swords not jousting lances... but they work too well as lances.

I swear I'm buliding the Kotobukiya collab Motocompos next. I'm going to have so many Motocompos...

HG Kimaris Vidar kitbash with girpla

Used some 30 minutes sisters parts to convert the Vidar into a girl.

HG Kimaris Vidar x 30ms kitbash

Second girpla kitbash, first full airbrush repaint. Mosty happy with how it turned out, and it was also good practice. The silver was a pain, it would barely stick, but somehow I salvaged it kinda OK on the spear.

Kimaris Vidar kitbash complete!

This was my first full repaint with an airbrush, I'm mostly happy with it but I was really suffering with the silver. It was still good practice, but took a lot of time to paint every part.

Kimaris Vidar WIP kitbash

A fairly straightforward kitbash so far, with minimal modifications, mainly so the thighs and the side skirts would fit. I still have to tighten the back pod thingies pegs because they are very loose.

Also the colors matched pretty well with the option set, but I will have to paint it anyway because of the modificatons. I just don't know what kind of color scheme I'll use yet... I wanted to use option set 7, but the thighs were too thick and they would overhang too much. So I went with set 11 which is perfect.

Gunner-chan on a Motocompo

I decided to build the regular Aoshima Motocompo before tackling the Kotobukiya x Honda collab custom versions with the girls. I'm glad I did because it's quite a finnicky kit. It was also my first time using an airbrush to color/varnish, and I made a bunch of mistakes, especially with the gloss varnish, but it was valuable experience. And the Motocompo kit is so cheap it's great for practice.

I built Gunner-chan a while back, but I wanted her to pose with the Motocompo.

First kitbash and repaint attempt

So I had an armorless Sol Road Runner remaining after I stole her legs and gave them to Sol Hornet. I took this as an opportunity to try my hands at kitbashing and painting.

I had a HG Age-1 Full Glansa that I used for the armored parts. It was already built but was one of my earlier gunplas so I wasn't particularly happy with it, making it a prime candidate. The main part I modified are the thigh parts, the inside of it is a mangled mess, bit it looks ok from the outside.

I only painted Warhammer minis before, and I guess this could be comparable to painting a vehicle. But the joints make the painting process more painful. If I ever do another repaint, I have to get an airbrush, brush painting large parts is never a fun time.
