I put in a TEA request and if I don't get this fucking class it's literally such bullshit. I payed to take summer classes specifically to set up for this class so I didn't graduate late and now I can't even enroll into said class. fucking scam fucking bullshit actually unacceptable.

i’m so tired of people turning every opinion into a social issue

Like I genuinely feel like online discourse has reached a point where you can’t even have a completely harmless opinion about a fictional character without somebody trying to turn it into a conversation about race, gender, representation, oppression, etc.

I just saw a TikTok of someone saying that Clawdeen from Monster High should’ve been left single because they didn’t like her relationship. Multiple people commented with “let Black women have love interests” and another person said making her single plays into the “token Black girl being single and independent” trope. And a large part of the comments were people advocating for this.

This is a children’s doll franchise about “MONSTERS”.

Obviously representation in media matters, and there are absolutely legitimate conversations to have about how different groups are portrayed. But why does EVERY individual opinion about a character have to represent some larger belief about an entire demographic.

It almost feels counterproductive sometimes because instead of letting minority characters just exist as individual characters, people reduce them back down to their identity. Suddenly Clawdeen can’t just be a werewolf doll for kids; every decision involving her apparently has to make a statement about Black women as a whole.

I’m exhausted by the idea that every piece of media, every character choice, and every random fandom opinion needs to be analyzed for whether it’s socially problematic.

Like I don’t even care about this doll franchise to that extent, it was just something I used to enjoy as a kid, and I saw a tiktok on it and decided to open up the comments. It’s just frustrating I can’t even enjoy a little nostalgia about a kids franchise without someone turning it into a social battle.

manager implemented inconvenient system

okay, so just a little rant to get it out because i can't possibly be the only person who thinks this is stupid?? fyi im a hostess/server, happen to be hosting this day.

so our new gm introduced this system where for every party we sit, hosts have to print a chit, track down the assigned server, wait for them to finish checking on their tables as not to interrupt, give them a paper that literally just says which table, how big the party is, and thats it. for WALK-INS too!

And at the same time management expects you to always be at the host stand, answer phone calls, take to-go orders etc. and gets mad when you can't or you're not there because you're too busy CHASING DOWN A SERVER LIKE YOU SAID? yet you get mad when the hostess DONT give chits. Which frankly, when i'm serving, I tell them it's okay to not give them to me. it easies the stress on the hosts and you don't have to wait around for us to acknowledge you so you can give me a paper.

i can understand if it's a special event like a birthday, a special request, a vip member, etc. but more often than not its a paper that says "Jon Doe, Party of 3 @ 209," like bro i can see my section.

and now for every walk in, hosts have to take their number and full name, and i've just never seen this at any other restaurant? so imagine you walk in, table for 3, and i ask you for your number and full name type that into the ipad, and then just sit you, not even place you on a waitlist (which I would understand then but that's not the case). feels a little odd? idk i would think so as i've literally never seen this anywhere else. it just feels like i have to sign you up to eat, and some customers have definitely found this weird. like they've said "why did you ask for my number when you could just sit me?"

just a little rant, but am i crazy? is this normal? do yall do this? ive worked in 4 different restaurants and I've never heard such a thing.

Volunteering at Medical Examiner’s Office

Hi! So basically I just got this opportunity to volunteer at the Medical Examiners office, but I’ll mainly be doing things like: assisting with filing, possibly report redactions and working on the file imaging for older cases.

I asked if there’s possibility for advancement and he said, “If there are volunteer openings in other divisions and if the managers of the divisions want to fill the role, there is a possibility of being placed in another division. All divisions of the Medical Examiner’s Department do work hand and hand so you will get to see how each division work with each other.”

I was just wondering if this would be worthwhile as it is a 1 year commitment. I’m currently a 4th year college student, graduating with a Human Biology degree in spring, not really sure what I want to do after.

Was considering forensics, which is why I applied but this doesn’t sound far too applicable compared to other opportunities. But I was also considering law school, where I believe this would be a bit more valuable, but still not much. I’m not really too sure. Just wanted some feedback.

help im going to my bf's graduation and his childhood friend's wedding on the same day

i'm terrified.

i've met his family before and they're all very sweet, but i had quite the awkward moment with them last time i saw them, i shutter just thinking about it. so i'm quite nervous to sit with them as i wait for him to walk the stage.

i fear i'm just so fucking weird.

i've also never met any of his friends from his hometown either. I'VE NEVER EVEN MET THE BRIDE OR GROOM.

so it'll be quite the nerve-wracking day.

but i'm literally overthinking my outfits, my dress, what to bring, potential icebreakers? like i'm very excited, but i can't help but dread the uncomfortableness. i'm trying my best to remain calm because this day is about celebrating so many other people, and the last thing i want to do is ruin that for my bf or his family or literally anyones vibe.

like part of me feels like i'm almost crashing this sentimental moment where he should be spending it by himself w friends and family and i'm just an outsider. idk maybe im just freaking out.

ontop of that, i haven't been to a wedding since i was like 10

im so stressed pls send help.
