Weekly Check-In: How’s Panning and No/Low Buy Going? 5/21-5/27

How’s it going this week with using/panning stationery, a no buy, or low buy? How is stationery bingo going? Feel free to share. Did you do a new journal spread? Break out a favorite pen? Use some pretty washi?

I hosted a letter writing meetup and was happy to send a lot of cards out into the world. I used up several boxes of art cards in my stash!

Bingo Progress: Sending Snail Mail

I’m crossing off the send snail mail square after hosting a letter writing meetup this weekend! A group of us met up from the Random Acts of Cards subreddit and mailed almost 70 cards! As part of that, I finished three boxes of art cards I thrifted from a stoop sale for a dollar each last year that my neighbor bought on trips to the Louvre and the Rijksmuseum.

[outgoing] snail mail from an nyc meetup!

this weekend was our fourth nyc meetup with another lovely group of new and returning faces from new york and new jersey. nine of us spent the afternoon chatting, writing, and artfully decorating with lots of washi, stickers, and stamps.

fun facts: we wrote 67 cards!! it’s a record for the nyc meetups (same with attendance!). cards are making their way to 5 continents, 16 countries, and 20 states in the us!

thank you so much to everyone who attended for a cozy afternoon of snail mail!

Weekly Check-In: How’s Panning and No/Low Buy Going? 5/14-5/20

How’s it going this week with using/panning stationery, a no buy, or low buy? Feel free to share. Did you do a new journal spread? Break out a favorite pen? Use some pretty washi?

I finished my semester (I work and am in grad school), so I have more time for my hobbies again! Hoping to do some stationery bingo soon. I did buy a box of cards this weekend but I am very okay with it because they are very cute and I’ve been feeling good about my low buy.

We have a meetup in NYC in May, and I'm building our mailing list! If you're in the US and would like a card or postcard, fill out the Jotform here: https://form.jotform.com/253447941989072 AND comment below (no comment, no card...)

We'll try to get through as many cards as we can. If you'd like to attend, feel free to DM me.

Hi fellow stationery lovers! I wanted to share a spring stationery bingo we're starting over in r/stationeryprojectpan in case you're interested in participating. If you're not familiar with panning, it comes from the makeup community and it's about using the things you already have. For our spring bingo board, the idea is to draw from your existing stationery collection to fill out the bingo board's different themes and challenges. I'm sharing the board here and you're welcome to share updates in r/stationeryprojectpan if you wind up participating! Thank you u/Big-Spirit317 for permission to share here 😄

Some more notes:

* The squares are intentionally broad so that it makes it easier for more of us to participate, since we all have different ways we use our stationery. If you can’t complete a square but have a way you can approximate it, that’s totally cool.
* You can use the same items for multiple squares but use them on separate occasions. For example, if you do a journal spread with lots of pink flower stickers for the “Flowers” square, I’d suggest doing something separate for the “Pink” square, like a card using the same pink flower stickers.
* **Themes:** Many squares this time are broad themes, such as spring, books, art, and outer space. Feel free to interpret broadly. For art, maybe you’re sending Frida Kahlo postcards you have or writing in your journal about a trip to a museum. For outer space, maybe you have star washi tape or space-themed stickers you want to use.
* **Colors:** This board also includes five color squares. Bonus points if you use multiple shades and, say, show off all the purple items you use for something.
* **Three things you are avoiding using:** This is for those items you are holding onto because they feel too nice to use.
* **Two favorite items:** Show off two of your fave parts of your stationery stash!
* **Go all out:** A maximalist square. Break out your supplies and go all out! For me, that might look like writing a letter where I decorate the envelope and card with stickers and washi, use different colored pens for each page, and pick out some extras to send along.
* **Sticker bomb something:** Cover something in stickers. This could be a card, a journal spread, your water bottle, your laptop…anything goes.
* **Do a stationery inventory:** For this square, you’d take stock of your collection and document what you have (list and/or pictures—pictures encouraged!). This is common in the makeup panning community where people will line up all their supplies, sort them, and often make spreadsheets to track things. You’re welcome to do a full or partial inventory. For example, I did an inventory of all my boxed cards at the beginning of the year and have been posting monthly updates on using them.

A thousand Thank Yous, shining bright,

u/Destalena’s reached a dazzling height.

Now an Emerald Flair begins to glow,

A green‑lit mark of the kindness they show.

So here’s to u/Destalena, shining through,

With 1000 reasons we’re grateful too.

May this new flair glow bold and rare,

An emerald crown they proudly wear.

(Thanks for the poem, u/MonetMonkey!)
