Should I complain about my emergency vet visit?

Last night my cat had to go to the emergency vet. She was straining at the litter box, vomiting, and panting hard for over an hour. Called ahead, told it was a 2-4 hour wait. Went in around 11 at night and they got her vitals almost immediately, then gave us a room.

They came in and asked some questions, and then left saying the dr should be in shortly. We waited four hours, no one provided updates or checked in, and several others who came in after is were treated. Around 3:30 my partner checked in with the new front desk assistant, who was openly shocked at how long we had been waiting, and went and found the Dr. on staff who came into the room within 10 minutes of us checking in.

They ended up doing several tests, and did not complete them until around 6 am. They then asked to do some more imaging, and we were there until 9 am when they sent us home with some meds for the cat and told us to monitor her litter box usage.

I totally get that other higher priority cases come in and need to be seen! I also have no issue with the outcome of the treatment. But I feel like based on the comments and reaction from the front desk staff it’s likely we were bumped unfairly or forgotten about. I also feel like paying a full service fee when communication and timing were extremely poor is a bit unfair.

Just wondering if anyone has a perspective on this that might help me understand so I can decide if I should call the office Monday.

Catfacing or virus?

We have several tomatoes on different plants that look like this. The leaves on the plants look healthy and undamaged. My searches are inconclusive and I need your help.

Edit 1 (6/29/26) 5pm: I have reached out to both local and state extension services. Both in Wisconsin and Illinois as well are right at the border. Waiting to hear back and will update again.

Edit 2 (7/1/26) 11:30am: Just got off the phone with one of our local extension office and they have never seen anything like this before and are just as intrigued as everyone else as to what is going on. She suggested it could be some sort of recessive genes mixed with the temperature and rainfall swings we have had in the past few weeks but is uncertain. She is making calls to a few people who may know more about tomatoes specifically and will call back when she finds more information. She also said there has been no local reports of viral outbreaks nearby, so that is a good sign. We have also tracked down the original seed lot and may possibly reach out to them depending on what she finds. It’s both a relief and concerning that the professionals are just as stumped as we are.

Rock hunting?

My boyfriend and I want to do a road trip on the west side of the state and hit several beaches or other good rock hunting areas. Any suggestions? We’re planning on a 4 day weekend so they can be decently spread out!

We also will be there for the 4th, if anyone has any good firework recs!

Group Advice

Hi friends! This is my groups first time at Elements, and most of my friends’ first festival! My partner and I have done a few camping fests, but never with more than us! I was hoping for advice with the following:

  1. What is the best way to get our group in together? We have 3 cars with 6 people (possibly adding in 2 more cars and 3 more people). Is there somewhere after security to regroup like at Forest?

  2. Does anyone have layout advice for the campsite? We’ll have three sites, with at least 4 tents and some canopies. If anyone has pictures I would appreciate it!

Thanks in advance y’all 🩷
