5800X CO + PBO Limits Question

Hello, right now I have found stable CO offsets for my 5800X:

C0: -20
C1: -20
C2: -20
C3: -20
C4: -5
C5: -20
C6: -5
C7: -20

As you can see, Core 4 and 6 are the performance cores of the cpu. The highest somewhat stable setting on Core 6 was around -7, and on Core 4 it was about -10, but they weren't tested completely.

Other cores could be undervolted all the way down to -30, and there still wouldn't be any stability issues (except for core 0, 2 and 7, where i had to go a bit higher, between -22 and -28.)

Long story short, I want to get the most FPS in CoD: Warzone, my GPU is a 4070, and I'm playing on 1080p.

So my question is: Is it worth to test multiple hours, so i can set every core to its absolute limit, or it wouldn't be such a gain in FPS for it to be worth it?

Another question I have is about PBO limits. I've asked multiple AI's, and also other people recommended to me to set a manual PBO limit. I've set everything to stock (previously it was on Motherboard), and now when I'm running a short Integer test in HWiNFO on all cores, EDC limit just skyrockets to 100%, and doesn't let the cpu boost more.

Previously, even with mobo limits, i've only hit about 95.2% of the Thermal Limit (around 86-87 degrees), when the test has been left running for 4-5 minutes. My cooler is an ID-COOLING SE-226-XT single tower cooler, but from what I've seen it should be plenty for the 5800X.

So: Should I experiment with other manual PBO Limits, and if so, how do i do that? If not, then can I just set PBO Limits to motherboard, and call it a day?

Thank you for reading all this! Every suggestion or comment is appreciated!

Should I install AtlasOS?

Hi! I'm considering switching to AtlasOS, from Windows 11. My specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4070 OC
  • 16GB (2x8) Kingston Fury Beast 3600CL17
  • Kingston NV2 1TB NVMe SSD

I've spent some time debloating Windows 11, like deleting Copilot, News, Mail, etc. apps that I don't really use. Sometimes when I'm looking in task manager, the main reason why I can't get more FPS in 1080p, is that either my CPU is at its limits, OR I'm hitting the max usage of my RAM.

After a restart, when only Windows is running with no startup apps, it's still using about 25-35% RAM on idle, and when I'm playing demanding games like Call of Duty: Warzone, RAM usage rockets up to 97-98%.

So I have 3 questions:

  • Should I really switch to AtlasOS, or it wouldn't make much difference in terms of RAM usage while gaming, therefore not getting any better performance, and I should just stay on normal Windows?
  • Does AtlasOS also help CPU usage with less processes, and does that convert into even the teeny-tiniest bit of better gaming performance?
  • I know that it's not recommended to install AtlasOS on top of a Windows installation that's already been used, but did any of you try it, or face any problems while doing that? My current installation is not that old I think, i've installed it at the end of June.

Any answers are appreciated!

Can't install/boot Windows from Kingston NV2 NVMe SSD (B550M-E, 5800X)

Can't install/boot Windows from NVMe SSD (B550M-E, 5800X)

Windows 11 installs to NVMe SSD, but no Windows Boot Manager is ever created (ASUS B550M-E + Kingston NV2)

I've been trying to move Windows from my old 120GB ADATA SP580 SATA SSD to a Kingston NV2 1TB NVMe SSD.

Specs:

- ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-E

- BIOS version 4101

- Ryzen 7 5800X

- Kingston NV2 1TB (installed in the M.2_1 slot)

What happens:

I created a Windows 11 Pro installation USB using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool and disconnected all SATA drives.

During the first installation attempt, after selecting the unallocated NVMe drive and clicking "Next", Setup appeared frozen for about 7-8 minutes before continuing. I restarted the installation several times because I thought it had locked up. After waiting long enough, it continued normally.

Since then, that delay no longer occurs and Setup proceeds immediately.

The installation reaches around 77%, restarts, and then never continues from the SSD. Instead, it either boots back into the installer (if the USB is connected) or goes straight into BIOS.

Things I've verified:

- SSD is detected correctly in BIOS as an NVMe device

- Disk is GPT

- EFI partition is created (300MB FAT32)

- Windows partition is created (~929GB NTFS)

- Windows, Program Files and Users, etc. folders are present on the SSD

- EFI partition contains:

- EFI\\Microsoft

- EFI\\Boot

- Secure Boot tested in multiple configurations

- CSM tested both enabled and disabled

- All SATA drives disconnected

- BIOS CMOS reset performed

Interesting behavior:

- With CSM enabled, the SSD appears as a bootable device, but selecting it gives:

"Reboot and select proper boot device"

- With CSM disabled, the SSD does not appear as a boot option at all.

- Windows Boot Manager never appears in Boot Options or Boot Override.

Additional troubleshooting:

I manually mounted the EFI partition and ran:

bcdboot C:\\Windows /s S: /f UEFI /v

The command reported:

Using EX bins because bootmgfw on ESP is 2023 already.

Failed to log servicing event to bootstat...

BFSVC Warning: Failed to retrieve physical partitions. Last Error = 0x490

Boot files successfully created.

Despite "Boot files successfully created", Windows Boot Manager still does not appear anywhere in BIOS.

At this point:

- Windows files exist on the SSD

- EFI partition exists

- EFI\\Microsoft\\Boot exists

- bcdboot completes successfully

- BIOS sees the NVMe drive

- BIOS never shows Windows Boot Manager

Has anyone seen an ASUS B550 board fail to register UEFI boot entries like this, or is there another step I'm missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ryzen 7 5800X Temps are really high, please help

Hi! I'm looking for some advice regarding my CPU temperatures.

My Ryzen 7 5800X is running quite hot while gaming. In Forza Horizon 6, it easily reaches 85°C+ during loading screens, and during gameplay I've seen it hit as high as 91°C in MSI Afterburner.

My specs:

  • Ryzen 7 5800X
  • ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4070
  • ID-COOLING SE-226-XT CPU Cooler
  • Seasonic G12 GM-750 80+ Gold PSU
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-E

I know the 5800X is known for running hotter than many other CPUs, but 90°C+ during gaming seems a bit excessive to me.

I've previously experimented with PBO and Curve Optimizer. After changing some PBO settings, the system became unstable and eventually wouldn't boot, so I reset everything back to optimized defaults in the BIOS.

I then tried a per-core Curve Optimizer setup:

  • Core 0-3: -5
  • Core 4: -15 (best core according to Ryzen Master)
  • Core 5: -5
  • Core 6: -11 (second-best core)
  • Core 7: -5

The system booted fine, but as soon as I started a race in Forza Horizon 6, the entire PC instantly shut down. It wasn't a game crash or a BSOD, the pc just shut down.

After that, I set Curve Optimizer back to auto as well.

Currently, the only BIOS settings I've changed are:

  • DOCP/XMP enabled for the RAM
  • Secure Boot enabled
  • Resizable BAR enabled

Everything else, including PBO and Curve Optimizer, is on Auto/default settings.

Is there a generally recommended Curve Optimizer or PBO setup for the 5800X that can reduce temperatures while maintaining or even improving gaming performance?

I'm also curious why my previous Curve Optimizer settings were so unstable. From what I've seen, values like -5, -10, or even lower are considered fairly conservative on many 5800X chips, yet my system crashed almost immediately after starting a race.

CPU fan RPM is running around 1900-2000 RPM while gaming.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
