Champion Creator Contest: July 2026 - Outdoor Adventures

Better late than never, it's the July contest! This month revolves around TOUCHING GRASS (Jumpscare)(Exposed)(Prank)(We Made It)(Gone Wrong)(Triggered) and fun in the sun. Mostly.

The Challenge

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Your goal for this month will be to make a champion that fits one or more of the following prompts:

1) The great outdoors, from me

Create a champion directly designed with Jungle in mind as their main role, or who incorporates distance traveled into their abilities somehow.

2) Questing, from me

Create a champion who incorporates setting out to meet a condition to reach their full power.

3) BBQ & Cookout, from me

Create a champion who incorporates cooking, grilling, or use of food or kitchen-wear in their abilities. Gragas is a good example.

4) Under The Sea, from me

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. So instead make a Champion who originates from the ocean and sea. They can dwell on land but they aren't from the land.

5) Ma, that weird looking cat is back!, from me

Create a champion who would be found in the wild of Runeterra.

6) Nifty Gear, from u/Lance_Beltran123

Create a champion who incorporates a weapon, gear or some kind of equipment with a specialized trait or unique property, for use in combat, for utility or both (mimicry, destroying walls, fearing, increased effects when near water, decreased effectiveness of burns, etc.)

7) As darkness falls u/Lance_Beltran123

Create a champion who's power originates from the night, the stars, the void, or who also uses their power in an attempt to keep the void at bay.

8) Free for All (again), from me

Free slot is back because, surprisingly, it wasn't used at all last month. This means anything goes. I'm warning you. The free slot will keep showing up here until somebody uses it. Remember, this hurts me more than it hurts you.

Top lane map changes and Top lane champions

So its going on around 2 years now since Summoners Rift was changed to be more symmetrical in bot lane, with bushes further distanced in mid lane, and the Top lane river widened. With more focus being put into champion satisfaction and identity recently, Top lane could really use some of that effort put into placing a new wall in the river. Wouldn't exactly define this as a hot take. Atakhan's upper wall when he spawned in Top side provided champions like Illaoi, Poppy and Camille with basically the closest thing to their old familiar patterns of gameplay, but obviously, where Atakhan spawned was entirely conditional. That's not all though, because it did more than that.

A wall placement in river would not only restore a good chunk of what is just missing in these kinds of Top lane champion fantasies (and grant them greater overall health in terms of individual toolkit balance), but some of what has been missing from Top lane in general. The river wall has more impact in Top than just on those champs because it creates a much clearer boundary for how either player wants to play the lane, respective to their champion. How do you play chess or checkers on a blank board? Many champions would benefit from this to an underrated degree while higher risk champions in particular can gain more opportunities to takes those risks that lead to an advantage. Its a much more compelling experience overall as the 1v1, duke it out lane with a more defined enclosure than with a mile of open space below into the river. Do you disagree?

What exactly does it take for Support to be balanced out of being an easier and lower risk second Jungle?

Teleport began getting changes in season 12 to move it away from what allowed Top lane to influence Bot lane early. It got to the point of players actually feeling like they couldn't pull off a strict 2v2 if the enemy Top had TP available at early levels, albeit this is a summoner spell with a long cooldown. If we look at the game now, how is the Support ganking Top lane or Mid lane as soon as (or before) either laner gains level 3, or even more obnoxious, afk waiting in a bush behind their allies tower or in river (in Top lane's case) for actual minutes at a time to then pop out at the first opportunity, not dramatically worse, than in season 9 when an Aatrox could TP bot lane at the same point in time? Top lane players personally gave up something to gain something or had to already be ahead when making such plays, yet the support doesn't personally lose anything because of their starting item's gold generation, their utility relying less on levels (let alone actually landing their abilities), and the decreased risk involved from literally turning a 1v1 into a 2v1 in their team's favor. They didn't kill any jungle camps by the way. They didn't have to take into account jungle pathing, spawn timers, potential invades or any such risks. The decision is as simple as showing up to lane and just saying, "you know what, I'm going to go pester mid lane now".

It has become all too common for the Support to completely abandon their allied ADC for anywhere for 5 minutes, to 15, to all of laning phase after the first 2 to 3 waves just to sit in another lane and pressure it with no counterplay available to the enemy laner. Mid lane and Top lane should not require their allied support to leave lane at level 2 to match the enemy support's roam, because that is not counterplay. A lack of agency inherently implicates the absence of counterplay. What is a Mid or Top laner supposed to do against a Support who hovers over their lane for 10/13/15 minutes or more? It is impossible to sweep for all potential ward placements or potential flank angles when you are trying to get ahead of (or stay ahead of) your laner, let alone when behind. How is this level of influence over other lanes acceptable or healthy when gameplay isn't being created, but removed? Support already has the most agency over bot lane, which involves two players already. What justifies the Support seizing the most agency over any lane they just choose to mosey on into from early to mid game on a wim? We either need more game systems or more refinement over current game systems to properly dictate what a Support can and cannot get away with, and at what cost. League of Legends is not a Sandbox game, it is a Moba.

Teleport was explicitly balanced away from allowing Top laners to influence bot lane not only early in the game but in the earliest parts of mid game, so how is a support unironically walking top or mid lane and occupying the lane for minutes at a time, with the option to leave several times and return several times, not seen as anything other than a toxic exploit? There are levels to everything. Support players SHOULD be able to roam. That does not mean they should be able to 1.) even further reduce the agency of their own ADC - who are already at a deficit in the lane, 2.) reduce the agency of the enemy lane they freely choose to hover over, 3.) pull off repeated early game and mid game ganks that not even the Jungler can replicate (because they actually have things to do), 4.) and have little to no risk of personal loss in the game-state from the sheer level of influence they can have over solo lanes having virtually no opportunity cost. Players already have to deal with a dedicated Jungler on the enemy team. Who AT ALL enjoys playing with or against a Support that will sacrifice their own teammates to play as a second Jungle? This is not a healthy pattern for the game, and having spanned multiple seasons, needs to be addressed. I would love to see anyone try to actually defend the level agency a Support is afforded in this state.

I don't think I've misread anything, although I am American. It just seems strange that...as far as I can tell, if I were a new player all over again and wanted to start playing Rengar (lets say he reminds me of my inner wolf; a 100% realistic scenario), but I didn't have anyone over my shoulder to just tell me (lets say I didn't have a dealer friend to get me into the game), I would have to leave the client, be willing enough to research it at all, and go over to the wiki just to find this out about him, since it's not already mentioned in-game. Seems like a critical little piece of info just went out to buy milk one day and didn't come back (just like my winrate). Thoughts?

The rune page setup description is actually the previous version while the in-game description is the hot fixed one. I'm not really sure if that was expected or not. Just a note I guess.

Whoever worked on this game mode, from the augment changes, to the "guests of honor" variations, to the new map art (although maybe less people care about that), yall COOKED with this one. The stove was hot, the kitchen lights was on and yall used all the right seasonings. Genuinely took an already fun game mode and made it that much more phenomenal. And uh...yeah that's all. Just a post to give some flowers if any Rizzoto chefs come across this.

If you don't wanna read all this I get it. I am 100% convinced that no one with significant authority over Shyvana's gameplay has even a lick of an idea what or where the fun is supposed to be with this champion. All of these complaints are in reference to AD shyvana. I'm not even bothering with AP. Despite the newly intended synergy with ability haste for her non-AP bruiser gameplay, she is even clunkier than she was before if played as "intended" (by stacking bonus HP and AH), which is a feat now reached that I hadn't even previously considered as possible. What she now asks of the player is to spam her W shield for chase and durability, except despite the lower cooldown of her W, Shyvana will never get a 2nd W cast off in a 1v1 or 2vX skirmish before the game has been decided 35 minutes later without already being within kill range of the opponent, because you will never gain enough passive stacks, bonus HP, completed tank items OR a shield size soon enough in the game to not get chunked as soon as any champion and their mother hits you with hard crowd control or freaking just uses their toolkit correctly.

You have the auto recast of Zaahen and Camille but not the damage output of these champions on either cast from neither the beginning of the game or the end of the game because all of her actual damage for the ability is still wrongfully backloaded into a true damage dealing 3rd cast only accessible by an expectation breaking transformation that doesn't actually make you significantly more individually powerful enough to make full use of the form, but will rather do the opposite by having the player dive into combat while not bearing any innate durability or damage to justify that dive in the first place (unless the targets would already die to a gust of wind). You still have the lack of agency and power in the early and mid game of a power farming jungler, yet your clear speed is now somehow slower (how, seriously, HOW) and when you leave the jungle you never actually gain more agency and power, you just take more effort and time to do what any meta jungler would do normally.

Given all this, now matter how much you roll your face across the keyboard to spam Q and W with more ability haste, Shyvana demands 2 to 3 times as much input just for her to get below average to just-scraping average damage output, because you no longer have enough attack speed or mixed damage scaling to supplement your ability damage, leading to her standing in front of the target with no actual relevant DPS (again, assuming you build ability haste and HP for AD Shyvana, regardless of including an item like Tri-force). For some reason her E still does not explode on champions and large monsters but on the first target hit, so the ability is just inefficiently wasting damage 9 times out of 10 throughout her jungle clear even when you do your best to hit as many targets as possible through better positioning, because small monsters aren't immobile statues, and its not like you are even rewarded over time for making the most out of the AOE (its just more effort to do what should take none). Then for some reason, casting E, despite it's low cast time, doesn't reset Shyvana's attack timer the way other low cast time abilities on other melee champions do, which is just one more aggravating clunky thing the champ just tells the player to deal with.

Even after several patches, her ultimate still decays too fast, to the point where it actually feels like you could just drop out of dragon form at any moment if you fight champions for "too long", which is just punishing you for acting on an incentive the champion is naturally supposed have. I couldn't care any less than I already don't now about what her winrate is, her gameplay somehow managed to get even more disconnected and feel even more awful when she could at least try to cosplay as Jax before. Shame on me for expecting an actual improvement. To whoever is having fun with this clunky mess, good for you and more power to you. Until something actually changes I don't see any reason to play this champion for any deep amount of time if you weren't a main before the rework (like myself) unless for picking her in arena where at least augments are available to give you the power of presence that rioters refuse to tune her to have anything close to on Summoners Rift.
