Anyone else get GI upset from dairy alternative cheese?

I ate Follow Your Heart sliced cheese on a chicken burger tonight (actually tasted good). Within 30-60 min my stomach was crazy upset and I’ll save you the details that followed lol. Last month I tried a small amount of Violife cheddar shreds on a chicken taco and had the same experience. (This was a really gross cheese btw.) I didn’t even have this issue with real cheese, just curious if this is a one-off or is there some shared ingredient that can occasionally cause issue.

I went dairy and all mammalian product free last month. I can’t say I’m 100% certain I get it right every time. So I’ll summarize what I cooked with tonight, if anyone sees something that I missed please let me know. I made the chicken patties splitting the number seasoned between something suggested on the facebook AG group (soy sauce) and a chicken burger recipe using what I’m mostly confident was all safe products (mayo, organic Dijon mustard, paprika, salt/pepper). I also had Lay’s regular potato chips and a dill pickle spear. Buns were Dave’s Killer Bread, Perdue ground chicken for the meat.

Update: Didn’t react the second time I had the follow your heart slices, but the third time I had it in one week I broke out in hives on my arms. Since I have other allergies and easily develop allergic dermatitis I ignored that but the next day I had the cheese again (isolating the foods I had eaten trying to determine a trigger), I got hives worse immediately after eating and then had a throat reaction. Probably to do with my OAS and not AG. Appreciate all the responses!

Hi, I was hoping to get some input on stopping my topical Clobetasol cream. I will be contacting my dermatologist tomorrow to confirm but he’s not actually treating my potential AI issues so I was hoping this community could relay some real life experience when stopping this. (Which I know sounds confusing, but he’s the one who rx’d the cream.)

I haven’t received a diagnosis as of yet; I don’t want to bog this post down with that mess but my top contenders for why I’m on Clobetasol (as I understand it, that’s relevant) are leukocytoclastic vasculitis, stasis dermatitis, or pretibial myxedema. All predicted to be rooted in some way to an AI condition. LCV is from my rheumatologist, SD from the dermatologist, PM was suggestive on my skin biopsy but my thyroid is apparently thriving but not in a hyperactive way.

Rx is 2x daily for two weeks. Since I experienced adverse effects from a fluoroquinolone I started the cream sporadically: one small test spot over the vesicles once on day 1, nothing day 2, then the same small spot once daily for 2 days, then the applicable area of that leg once for 2 days, and finally both legs where the vesicles were present. Since I have to use Vaseline for the dryness of whatever is occurring, I use that at night and the Clobetasol in the AM. For three nights I’ve used it in very small sections where the skin is the worst and forgone Vaseline on those spots, but my two week mark will be this Sunday and I do not want to exceed the directed time frame. I’ve seen great improvement in my skin, but it’s not just from this cream and it’s not completely resolved.

My question is, is it typically assumed to be safer to quit cold turkey given my application frequency or to taper off for an additional timeframe? Before starting this I did ask my dermatologist if tapering would be required and he said no, but that’s when he thought it was SD. I do not want to risk any rebound inflammation. To be clear, just looking for experiences, first or secondhand, as I will be speaking with my doctor tomorrow. And if it isn’t painfully obvious, this is my first strong topical steroid rodeo. Tia

I’m really sorry I am again asking a food question this week. I feel like every time I think I understand one aspect of this, something else comes up.

I know some are more sensitive than others here, but I’m curious if it is generally necessary to purchase organic non-red meat (ex plain chicken thighs) to avoid mammal derived ingredients in any injections they may receive? (Is this even a real thing?)

I recently met with my allergist, who said my joint symptoms are not directly being caused by my positive AG results but rather an inflammatory response to red meat. He says it’s because I still have symptoms despite not eating red meat; when I said I still eat dairy he noted that dairy reactions with AGS are exceedingly rare. But I see that contradicted here a lot.

I do not have any anaphylactic symptoms or classic allergy symptoms. No hives, difficulty breathing, mouth or throat swelling when consuming red meat; no GI symptoms. My joint pain and swelling developed about a month following my increase in beef consumption from a few times a year to almost daily. Any time I have red meat, I have horrible joint pain within 12hrs. But I also have seemingly permanent joint changes - it took over 1.5 years before I was tested for AG and it was 9 months after symptom onset I realized the pain correlation to red meat. I wasn’t sure if that was normal with an AGS joint response though.

I’ve seen many people here state they have joint symptoms related to AG. I have other health issues going on, some that could potentially be the cause of my sudden arthritis. But I wanted to get some input from this sub before my rheum appointment this week. Has anyone’s doctor confirmed joint aches as an official symptom? (I’ve seen it noted in plenty of articles, not just patient forums.) My GP is the one who thought of AG when I mentioned my symptoms as well so I was very surprised by my allergist. Tbf he said there’s a correlation and he believes red meat is contributing to my issues but it’s not an allergic reaction. So I’m just kinda confused atp.

I'm posting here because I enjoy reading fantasy more but I've also read many dark romance books. But in those the FMC mostly starts to enjoy the punishments and I don't want that. I want her to be absolutely miserable, borderline suicidal, and seething with hatred for the MMC.

The best example is that scene in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This is pretty much what I'm looking for, but in a fantasy setting.

Punishment I would enjoy: flogging/flagellation/spanking etc., using other woman (again I don't mind cheating because I overlook this irl), humiliation in front of others (forced sexual acts, forced sharing - only when the FMC does NOT enjoy it, I don't mind noncon if the FMC reacts in a realistic way and is traumatized instead of a slut for it, it’d be cool if all his friends remember this humiliation for their long immortal lives—please don’t check my Porn Hub history or hard drive).

The MMC has to truly regret it (major oopsie vibes), and ofc must grovel ​appropriately and is realistically forgiven because who wouldn’t. Fantasy preferred but open for any trauma genre. They don’t call me TW Tracy irl for nothing 😘

First of all this book is HUGE. Took me almost 4 days to complete. Originally, I picked it up for a bit of light reading.

So, I heard about this book a lot and I gave it a try. But tbh it was a bit confusing in the beginning (is the FMC supposed to be me, Hermione, or the author living out her ultimate rape fantasy?), so I eventually lost interest and dnfed it. But then I picked it up again and I had to dnf it again because of some reason. Definitely not related to psychological trauma.

But a few days ago, i determined myself to finish it once and for all. Leave no Dramione stone unturned I say. And I am so glad that I did because I was running out of mommy issues to discuss with my therapist.

THIS BOOK IS THE BEST ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS I'VE EVER READ!

And I read parts of the Bible. I was looking for the EXACT type of enemies to lovers trope that this book have. I wanted what I can never experience in my mostly civil, first world country—dystopian war crimes specifically against, but not limited to, women. It was a slow burn, slow paced and these were the qualities that made this book so much better. It was like the longest, most traumatic fantasy I’ve always wanted to read about plus my favorite movie series growing up.

The rivalry between them, and the hate made so much sense unlike all the other enemies to lovers I've read. Other E2L just kill some friends or family, I wanted total annihilation of bodily autonomy, degradation to the fullest, true despair and depression so that the two MCs could persevere and become true partners through real love and trust the MMC definitely deserves. Usually, in other books the MMC unalives a man for doing the things this MMC does to the FMC. Sometimes I think authors don't even know the proper idea behind enemies to lovers.

But Sen lin yu did a great job here. 10/10 no notes.

Ughhh I wanna talk so much about this book but I don't have any reader friend whom I can discuss this with because they all read typical, boring romances 😭
