This community genuinely kicks ass

Just wanted to give you all some recognition. I was a bit hesitant to post my game here last week, but after I mustered up the courage I can genuinely say that this community shattered the voice in my head about people not caring about my game.

I've now got nearly 20 friends in the discord from here, which feels small but mighty! I've fixed every bug they've found and implemented nearly every QOL upgrade they've suggested.

I hope this doesn't feel like an ad - I still feel weird advertising but if anyone's interested in joining us, we'd love to have you - the game's called Post Apocalyptic Gas Station - and if the name isn't self-evident, you build your colony on the back of the fuel sales from a Gas Station. It's pretty fun!

If anyone's curious for context, here's an imgur album, and here's a few minutes of gameplay

Above all, thank you all so much, and I hope to meet more of you soon!

Haven't released ANYTHING about my game at all - does this look like something you'd play?

As the title says, I have released nothing about a game I've been working on for a while - but I'm at a point where I've lost objectivity because I've played it so much. I've had a few testers and they've all played for several hours, but they're all close to me, so again, objectivity can be hard to discern.

It's a game where you run a post-apocalyptic gas station in New Mexico. Sits somewhere between Frostpunk (events) and Rimworld (character development), inspired by Fallout 1 and 2 (theme, dialogue, dark humour).

I was told in r/SoloDevelopment that you guys would be a good community to talk to when I did decide to share.

I appreciate any and all feedback, and if anyone wants to check out a demo I can get you one. Again, not yet on Steam, itch, and no public posts.

If my game isn't a hit, I'll still be happy.

Just wanted to share a moment with some like-minded people.

A couple of days ago, I shared my game with my non-gamer wife. I have a habit of spending YEARS on games before I get to a vertical slice that I'm happy enough to show to friends or family - so much that it almost never happens.

Well, I showed it to her, and she genuinely loved it. This time it wasn't a "that's nice honey" type response, or her playing it to appease me before getting off after a couple of minutes. She played for 3 hours straight, and only got off because it was 1am and I had asked her three times to go to bed. She's also been asking to play it again daily since.

I've been in the industry for 7 years now, making games for about 10, and that was the first time I've actually felt that.

I haven't released my game (or anything about it) to the public yet, but even if it isn't a hit, I'm happy. That felt amazing.

What do you call a warrior that loves to go down on his partner?

>!Gladiator!<

Just thought of this while working on my game. Any good?

If you bagheld SPCE, sell ASAP

You won't get another opportunity to sell at a reasonable price until Q4 at the earliest. If you were down substantially on SPCE, sell ASAP. That is all. No shilling, just practical advice.
