Hello I was wondering how much to cut to get rid of damage? Do I have to go to shoulder length?

So sat I went to the salon to go from dark brownish black to a brown reddish color and as she was doing my hair she said your hair is healthy enough to go purple that you wanted eventually so I said really okay! Turns out it was not 😭 I got home and my hair was breaking into the sink and very over processed. She was very nice especially having me in the chair for 8 hours . I’ll insert some pics of the before and after. But is there anyway to fix it so it looks good after my hair heals from the damage ? Also do I need to trim or cut a lot off?
