Last fall I started experiencing shoulder pain that would radiate up into my neck. At first I thought it was an old injury flaring up (rotator cuff tear from like 20 years ago), but I couldn't figure out what would cause it to act up after all this time. Then I learned about frozen shoulder being a menopause symptom and I was like, "Is that what this is?!"

Apparently, declining estrogen leads to increased inflammation, which causes more joint pain.

What's driving your peri insomnia? Do you lay awake worrying about things you have absolutely no control over and ruminating over every interaction/decision you made that day to the point of an anxiety attack? Or do you fall asleep quickly but then wake up 2 hours later (too hot, too cold, thirsty, have to pee, heard a noise, hubby snoring, itchy legs...) and toss and turn until sunrise?

I wish I could go back and tell my college-age self to GO TO BED instead of pulling all-nighters, because it would be the last good rest she'd have for decades!

It's changed the way I address stress. Like, now I'm trying to figure out how to biohack my neurotransmitters to get the most out of them. I've definitely started exercising more (I know, I know, but it helps!), I've been doing contrast therapy with sauna and cold plunge (it can boost happy brain chemicals by up to 220% for up to 8 hours), prioritizing sleep, replacing alcohol with CBD, spending some time in the sun every day...
