How long is your thesis?

Just saw a random history thesis that was 298 pages (including references, but still) and was disgusted. Mine will probably be 150 pages or so, double spaced.

Im a physics student but I feel so bad for my brothers and sisters in liberal arts 🤝

Update: People don't like playing against YapYap

I made a post yesterday titled 'Yap yap the destroyer, where have you been all my life?' and have, despite having other responsibilities, been degenerately playing this game all day.

Yap Yap is fun; he doesnt seem quite as strong as Atriox, and sometimes lategame can be a slug fest because the power wheel isnt as game-ending. But needless to say, I have found my main leader.

What I've noticed is that people aint bowing out against yapyap. Quite the opposte, actually. When playing as atriox, when the game was decided, my opponent quit out. As Yapyap, people go full on gorilla warfare with no base left until they're forcefully ejected from the game. It's kind of hilarious how many games I've had like that, probably more than all of the games playing as atriox combined.

While I never faced difficulties against Kodiak's as Atriox, (understandably) people like to go full kodiak turtle against yapyap. But I am not deterred. I played AN 80 MINUTE GAME against a Forge. It was like the battle of the Somme. My army marches in, gets rinsed, I kill a Kodiak, I instantly make a new army, it walks in, gets rinsed, repeat. My comp was mostly Hunters and Reavers, a few healers, a few Wraiths. I eventually mixed in some Shrouds to deal with the artillery, but honestly it was a waste of supply. Even with 5 shrouds the artillery was still blowing me up. In retrospect I probably should have added a scarab, but I was too afraid that the downtime in pop that would require would allow my opponent to actually leave his base and come murder me.

If anyone has any suggestions on the super-late game let me know. I typically stubbornly refuse to build banshees, but honestly after an hour of playing, I can probably sacrifice my morals to get out of pergatory.

Yap yap the destroyer, where have you been all my life?

Coming back to the game after about 5 years, I’ve been climbing the ladder the past few days. Not sure why but my placement was very low.

Started in silver am now in plat. I’m not sure where my true rank is, but I think I have a while more to climb, though I have started to drop games every once in a while.

Anyway, I’ve been playing atriox. I think at these lower ranks, the difference in early game is massive. I can often expand all over the map because of atriox’s passive and am rarely punished. By the time I have 4 bases it’s kind of over, given how strong his hero powers are.

ANYWAY I am a former sweaty StarCraft player, but I absolutely adore halo. However, because the game is designed for console, the game doesn’t reward you for being a sweaty multitasker like in StarCraft 2. I’m masters league, and one of the things I really like is how overwhelming it is. My ideal RTS game has me being aggressive and taking map control. The map control gives me an information and eco advantage, and I turn that advantage into a late game win. Atriox sort of accomplishes this, because he can expand earlier, but it’s usually more of a defensive expansion that doesn’t come with map control (although atriox’s chosen is broken and DOES give map control for something like 2 minutes)

Anyway, I bought the DLC and tried yap yap. Sure, he might lend himself to a mid game smother, and his late game abilities don’t seem quite as OP as atriox, but this leader fixes the lack of scouting and lack of being annoying that I felt I was missing out on as atriox. Sure, you can spam choppers in the early game as Atriox, but they’re just expensive enough that losing one or two here and there hurts you.

I wanted zerglings and an expansion advantage, and I sure have found my zerglings. I am now determined to be an absolute plague on the ladder. See you all there

I just won my 6th game in a row

I think it's time to quit this game. Web games aren't supposed to be fun-- that's what makes them web games. It's just too easy to open another tab and get distracted from work.

I play under the name Mythbusters Adam Savage, if anyone ever sees me online.

Yes, I really am Mythbuster's Adam Savage.

Battle Line in 11th

Does anyone think we might not need 2 tormentors in purge the foe lists?

In 10th I'd say at least 80% of lists ran 2 tormentors. Sticky Obj + Infiltrate is super good on a battle line unit. However, as far as I can tell, Purge the Foe only cares about defending your home objective, not necessarily controlling it.

I'm wondering if it might better to simply bring a 10x unit of infractors instead of a second 5x unit of tormentors, as you no longer need the sticky for your home objective.

I actually have a list where I may swap out this unit of tormentors for a second rhino, which I think is probably even better. Let me know what you think!

(The list, which I posted a few days ago)

Chaos - Emperor's Children - Court of the Phoenician, Spectacle of Slaughter

Total: 1995pts

Fulgrim (350pts)

Lucius the Eternal (130pts)

Lord Exultant (80pts) attached to: 5x Infractors (85pts)

Lord Exultant (105pts) [Enhancement: Tears of the Pheonix] attached to: 5x Infractors (85pts)

5x Tormentors (80pts)

5x Tormentors (80pts) (might get rid of you)

6x Flawless Blades (210pts): Spectacle of Slaughter Upgrades: Eager Patrons

6x Flawless Blades (210pts): Spectacle of Slaughter Upgrades: Eager Patrons

6x Flawless Blades (210pts): Spectacle of Slaughter Upgrades: Eager Patrons

6x Noise Marines (145pts)

6x Noise Marines (145pts)

Chaos Rhino (80pts) (might get another one of you)

Is having a Lord Exultant lead a unit of Flawless Blades any better in spectacle of slaughter?

Thinking of running maxed out 18 flawless blades, because I think they're cool. I think the consensus is that in 10th, having a lord exultant lead a FB unit was underwhelming because it's a bit overkill.

However, it still seems very cool.

The Lord Exultant would receive the typical crit wound on 3+, but in addition to this, spectacle of slaughter would give him either +2"M or immunity to snapfire, and (albeit neutered) fights first.

I am trying to max out on fight's first because I think its neat. So i'm going to bring 3 units of blades, fulgrim, and lucius.

Here's the cope: while I understand that having 290 points worth of units way over-killing a battle line unit on an objective isn't exactly optimal, it feels like there's some value in having some as much scary as possible packed into the Fights First phase. I feel like it makes it much more challenging to trade efficiently in the fights first phase against a big scary character like Fulgrim, if there are more threats that are capable of wiping your unit before you can activate it. In addition to considering the other pieces in the Fights First phase, I feel like having Fights First might be able to help eek out more value from the unit. Or at least help him stay alive for longer.

I think a similar argument about Lucius is valid, but he still gets Fights First when not attached (and can't lead a unit like infractors, which might make more sense from a stat/points cost perspective), so really for Lucius it just comes down to whether or not you want the datasheet of the Flawless Blades, or not.

Maybe FB don't need the additional threat of the Lord Exultant? I just think it would be sick to have him. Let me know what you think.
