Which part to from? Do I take from the rhizo growth or the super thick growth?

I have worked with agar before and typically it will be a very obvious side or pretty uniform. This is the first time in my young hobby I have come across this. Take from the rhizo or from the thick mycelium?

Algorithm heaven

*The portion of the joke is heaven being an algorithm like your feed. *

I liked one day being cold, wet, and gloomy. Perfect stay inside weather.

Now for the next month my heaven looks like Seattle.

Everyone is driving Subarus, heroin needles scattered about, and I'm on a Kurt Cobain watch.

What was the best advice you got when starting out?

I would say mine was don't worry about perfecting 4 minutes of material. Just keep writing and doing new jokes. What is worth it, will float to the top.

School mascot change

In high school we were the Rough Riders. Junior year they changed it due to sexual references. So they changed it to the Cardinals.

Our athletics was atrocious but we always found a way to pound the catholic boys teams.

Are women more likely than men to have a stage name?

I know that people will have a stage name to keep some line between them and their stage persona. Knowing that the public can be shitty, I understand why some more than others would have one. Are women more likely to have a stage name?

Your Comedy Cadence.

I know that not everyone does but quite a few people including myself have a cadence/mannerisms/rhythm that you follow when up on stage. It could a be a personal cadence that you follow or it could be one that is influenced by a famous comedian. Dave Attell for examplehas a very specific cadence and mannerism to his voice.

Have you ever caught yourself speaking in that cadence in your everyday life? Like oh, I sounded as if I was doing a bit. Do you think other people pick up on this?

Getting inspiration from other comedians

I'm not sure how to title this, so just get into it. I have noticed that when going to open mics I don't steal jokes but I do take inspiration from other comedians.

Example last night a comedian was talking about someone coming down with Scarlett fever and how they were inflicted with 1827 and thinking it was eradicated.

While listening I have a habit of guessing what the punch line is going to be. Most times I am wrong, sometimes I am correct. Her talking about Scarlett fever just made me think about a made up convo in which a group of friends is talking about the Mac Oregon trail and people dying of stuff like dysentery, drowning, and Scarlett fever. I'm smart but also dumb as i'm surprised that people could die of that. I didn't know you could die from the community thinking you are whore, when you never were but you kinda are. Then my friends realizing i'm talking about the Scarlett Letter.

I am not saying that is a good basis of a joke or if it ever makes past the 2 lines in my notebook. Does anyone else use open mics and hearing one or two things and coming away from a joke. Do people stay away from that because it is too easy to accidentally cross that line and get surprise guest appearances from Joe Rogan?
