Blueberries. Do they help with teary eyes?

Blueberries. Do they help with teary eyes?

Archie (6 mo) has had a problem with his eyes being very watery and staining from the day we’ve gotten him. 😂

It possibly could be allergies, but may be anatomical as well. It does seem to get worse when he’s been out in the country/open air.

It’s better his eyes are too watery instead of too dry. But I would like to see if we can reduce the staining a little. I keep reading suggestions that people swear by blueberries to help with this. Anyone else with experiences with this?

Did you have a potty training regression phase with your pup?

My 6 month old had largely been great with potty training. After the first week or so, he went months without having a true poop accident inside (only exception was when new food bothered him and he had some diarrhea in his kennel overnight, I can’t really count that.) He has had occasional pee accidents, but not a ton overall.

Welp, since last Thursday he’s had about 5 consecutive days pooping inside. Every spot in the same area, up at the top of our stairs somewhere on the carpet.

Think this was my fault. I was reading online about 6 month Cavaliers lasting several hours at a time between bathroom trips. We still were doing them every hour or so because it’s manageable for me working from home. I decided I wanted to stretch them out to every 2 hours or so while awake/not in his kennel to get him used to that habit.

The first several days went great. He was holding it just fine and had no accidents. But what happened though was that we started to ignore his initial outside signals (we have bells on the door) and eventually one of the times lead to him going up and pooping on the carpet. (I think he had the zoomies right before, so it sped things up for him) We’ve since shampooed and enzyme cleaned the carpet, but he’s still doing it. Think it’s less a scent issue, but more an association habit. He developed the connection “the bells no longer work, and this place is a place I can poop now if any urge comes. He seems to be doing it now when it’s not even an urgency.

Anyone else with similar experiences at this age? I’m pretty much banning him from being in that area unsupervised for now until the habits get broken.

6 months old! When does any “mellowing out” begin? 😂

Archie just hit 6 months. I think he’s getting near the end of teething, but not done yet. Won’t be getting fixed until he’s at minimum 9 months, may be closer to a year, per vet recommendation.

I have no expectations of him getting to “adult” levels of calm anytime soon. Which I’m fine with. I work from home, so I have the capacity to entertain him. But my bigger question is when my wife and I will have an evening again where he isn’t sprinting around the room in circles picking up everything in sight for 3 straight hours? 😂 He just doesn’t seem to shut off unless he’s sleeping in his kennel (which he thankfully loves)

Is this something that gets better as he gets to 8-9 months, or will stay the same/get even worse? I’ve heard mixed things about what to expect. Teething stopping should help some I would think?

Ranked 12th on NFL.com preseason power rankings

Lmao. “They need to prove themselves”

all while putting them behind a completely fluky Bears team and Dallas, among others.. What a load of horse shit.

CW: has your Cav ever done the phantom “air leg kick” and it wasn’t SM?

Have a 6 month old here and a little
freaked out.

I got him up from his nap and he was acting normal.
Suddenly when he came in he briefly seemed to “lose balance” for a brief second, then did the phantom leg air kick right after for a couple seconds then stopped. He wasn’t on his leash or anything. But like exactly the symptom that people talk about. Just was the most random thing.

He was immediately normal after that, even ran upstairs with his normal routine. But everywhere I read says the leg kick is kinda “the sign” He’s otherwise acting completely normal, but I’m aware that he’s at that first age where some start showing signs.

I guess I just want to figure out if this always mean this is what it is or if there’s other possible reasons as well.

Cavaliers being off leash, “getting out”

So my 5 1/2 month old so far has always stayed leash only outside and I don’t plan on going away from it until we would have a fenced in yard. Going on walks with him, he is finding scents everywhere and wants to take off to find them.

He’s not a massive animal chaser like you would think. Love chasing bugs when he sees them. Mainly loves people and will go after any person he sees.
The one time he did “get out” on us so far was out of our garage about a month ago. He saw our neighbors out across the driveway and got into their open garage.

He doesn’t seem like he actively wants to run away from us intentionally while outside, or actively try to bolt out the door. But my big concern is one of these days if we mess up, I hear they have basically zero outdoor danger instincts. We’re about 1-200 feet away from a pretty busy road, so that definitely leaves me uneasy if he ever got out and saw something way across the street.

Best move just to teach recall as best as possible? We are starting to teach him to stay in position when outside doors open with treat incentives. But doing recall so far has been spotty and hard to train when he’s always inside and we don’t have a fenced yard at this time.

The waves of his adult coat are coming in slowly!

Archie is at 5 1/2 months now. It’s fun slowly seeing his coat start to show signs of thickening. Love how his tail almost seems like it’s slowly unfurling as well 😂

CW: When do occasional random “yips” from puppy become cause for concern?

When do random “yips” on occasion become a concern?

So we’ve already done a ton of research on King Charles Spaniels when we got our Archie, who is now 5 months old. The heart stuff for one, but also looking out for any SM signs.

Obviously this has lead to sort of watching his behavior at times. Something I have noticed is that on rare occasion (maybe once a day, but maybe not even that) he’ll let out a random yip that seems oddly non specific.

Like it will involve handling usually, but it did not seem like we obviously pinched him or anything. I haven’t seen him do any majorly obvious air kicking you see in the behavior, though I’ve occasionally thought I’ve seen him kick the air briefly for a moment? But may be overanalyzing that side of things.

Energy otherwise is all normal. He shows no major sensivity to being held or having his head/neck touched. (other than the fact he is still teething) and his energy is very high like any other puppy.

I’ve seen some posters jump to diagnosing SM pretty fast in other threads. But can this behavior just be the fact he’s a puppy having growing pains?
If worst case scenario does happen, we thankfully already are ahead on pet insurance.

Stolen valor defrag!

Happen to see my Tandy’s gotten a case of stolen identity. Guess defrag’s are no longer sacred!

Will Archie’s coat be on the thinner side? (16-17 weeks.

Hey everyone! This is Archie. He’s just hit 4 months old. Something catching my eye is that his coat seems much thinner compared to most photos I see of KCC pups at 4 months. I even see 2 month old pups with thicker coats.

His will obviously get thicker than what it is now, but curious how thick. Most photos I see of King Charles Spaniel’s online seem to have generally pretty thick coats, with a few exceptions that are moderately thick. So far his has remained smooth. (I know I also wished so badly that it would stay this thin. It’s perfect 😂)
