Started uni at 23M, im now 27 doing my maters. Im so tired if the ageism.

As the title says, I’m repeatedly ridiculed for my age. Just this evening I’m at my one of the uni’s socials for some drinks at a pub. One girls asks me “how does it feel to be a p3dophile” another occasion someone a girl says to me “what are you even doing here?”

I’m usually thick skinned, but it’s starting to wear me down and makes me not want to go out and make friends because I’ll be exposed to more of this.

Does anyone have the same experience or any advice? I’m just getting tired of it and makes me feel like a weirdo to even exist.

Can’t handle the pressure/criticism (furniture sales)

I’m about four weeks into a furniture sales job and my manager seems to criticise almost every customer interaction I have.

After most transactions I’m told what I should have said differently, how I should have pushed harder, created more urgency, or handled objections better. Without even hearing my pitch or interaction, he will tell me I did it wrong. He tells me to get him involved as much as he can and use his knowledge to help close a sale, but when I do I’m criticised for not finishing it myself.

I understand that I’m new and sales involves coaching, but it’s getting to the point where I’m going into every customer interaction already expecting criticism afterwards, and it’s starting to affect me mentally.
For people who work in sales, is this normal coaching, or does this sound excessive?

Should I make things up to get the sale?

I’m in my fourth week of a furniture sales job.
Yesterday, a woman came in looking at one of our best-selling sofas. I explained some of the features and got her over to the computer to check availability and delivery times.

I told her availability was looking good and she could have it delivered within 1–2 weeks. She seemed happy with that, and I also mentioned that if she wanted it at the current price, the sale ends on Monday.

She said she’d have to think about it because this was the first shop she’d been to, although she did really like the sofa. I explained that we have a money-back guarantee and that she could buy it now and cancel later if needed, but she still wanted to go and look at other options in other stores first.

As she was leaving, my colleague, who’s been there for two years, stopped her and basically explained everything I’d already said, just in different words and with a bit more pressure.

Afterwards, he told me it wasn’t a good interaction because I didn’t create enough urgency. He said I should be saying things like the sofa is low in stock and essentially pretending I can see that there are only a few left in the warehouse, even though we don’t actually have access to that information.

Do you think I should stay honest and not make things up, or is this kind of thing just considered normal in sales to create more pressure and urgency?

SCAM ALERT

Just like me, I’m guessing a lot of people are searching for secondhand air-conditioners. Be careful, they are scammers at the moment asking for a deposit to reserve the AC, they give a fake address and then they will block you. Almost happened to me and it happened to someone I know. They were saying things like “ I’m getting tons of enquiries” to put pressure on you.

NEVER send money to a stranger.

Out of stock UK?

I’m looking for a portable AC unit between £300 to £400, but it’s out of stock everywhere.

Argos, John Lewis, B&Q, and on Amazon I only see low rating foreign products.

Does anyone know where I can get a good brand AC in the UK?

What coding should I learn?

I’m going to start my HCI masters in September, but to improve my employability, I feel like I need some coding knowledge.

What kind of coding should I learn, and how can I get reputable certification without having to do BA?

Thanks

How do I win games?

I think my mechanics are quite good on Zoe, and I understand the idea behind her. Bully lane, shove wave and look for roams. But my WR is negative. I feel like my value rapidly drops when people start grouping, and the worst part is when fights happen in base with minions everywhere blocking my entire kit.

Do any high win rate Zoe’s have any tips?
