Why Is Ahmedabad's Social Scene So Dry? 🤔

Why is Ahmedabad's social scene so dry compared to other cities?

I've noticed that cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, and Delhi have active communities where people regularly meet, make new friends, attend events, and socialize. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad often feels much quieter in comparison.

I'm genuinely curious to know what others think. If you're from Ahmedabad, what's been your experience? And if you've lived in other cities too, how does Ahmedabad compare?

Let's discuss.

Making New Friends > Staying Bored 😄

College vacations are on, and I'm hoping to make a few new friends in Ahmedabad.

If you're someone who enjoys good conversations, sharing memes, trying new cafés, or just wants a new friend to talk to, my DMs are open. No pressure just looking for genuine persons and good vibes. 😊

Let's find an idea worth building together (open to any industry).

I don't have a specific idea yet what I have is the drive to build something real and the discipline to see it through. Rather than sit around waiting for the "perfect idea," I'd rather find a few sharp people, throw ideas around, pick the best one together, and actually execute.

Unpopular opinion: Discord/Reddit culture is making guys terrible at real life socializing.

Hear me out if a guy's whole world is his room, his phone, and online communities, he never really builds the skills to meet people IRL. And then the girlfriend/relationship thing just... never happens. Seen this with a few people I know. Is it the apps, or is it something deeper? Or am I totally wrong?

When the highway construction crew accidentally creates a new god...

locals have painted a pillar from the National Highways Authority of India project, put flowers and incense around it, and are actively praying to it.

This is a perfect example of how humans are wired to find the sacred in literally anything. Give people a painted concrete structure and within weeks it becomes a deity. No temple needed, no mythology required just a bit of orange paint and some garlands.

No shade to the individuals this is just what happens when belief systems have no falsifiability filter. Anything can become holy.

Gujaratis caught littering in Annapurna, Nepal — locals weren't having it 🚮❌

This video shows Gujarati tourists carelessly throwing garbage in the Annapurna region, Nepal. A local Nepali resident confronts them, scolds them, and makes sure they pick it up themselves.

Annapurna is one of the most pristine and respected trekking destinations in the world. This kind of behaviour is not just disrespectful it damages the image of Gujarat and India.

We can do better. Travel responsibly, leave no trace. 🙏

You let two boomer stocks destroy ₹30k of your money"

Down 13% on my 2-stock portfolio — ITC and HDFC Bank. Roast me or advise me, I can take it.

Current holdings:

- ITC— 617 shares | Current value: ₹1,70,322 | Invested: ₹1,99,241 | Loss: ~₹29k

- HDFC Bank — 38 shares | Current value: ₹28,368 | Invested: ₹29,602 | Loss: ~₹1.2k

Portfolio summary:

- Total invested: ₹2,28,844

- Current value: ₹1,98,692

- Total loss: -₹30,151 (-13.18%)

- Today alone: -₹4,507 (-2.22%)

Market is bleeding (Nifty -1.15%, Sensex -1.27%) so some of today's pain is macro, but the overall 13% drawdown is on me.

ITC has been a long hold and I still believe in the FMCG + cigarette moat, but the stock just hasn't moved. HDFC Bank I bought expecting a recovery that's taken forever.

Should I average down, hold, or just cut losses? Is anyone else overweight ITC? What's your thesis?
