First Profile Rig TR40s + Experience

Like the title says, I recently made the jump and went all in on a full profile rig. I ultimately decided on the Trak Racer TR40s as I am a little bit limited on space.

I had heard some mixed opinions on the Trak Racer experience, mainly from a year or two ago. However I ordered on a Tuesday, and packages arrived on Friday, with the final package arriving on Monday (4 packages total). Setup took around 3ish hours, with final tweaks for my seating position taking another hour or so. their instructions were clear and I had zero issues, beyond a missing screw here and there (they sent plenty extras)

Just figured I’d share my new setup which is amazing to me! Also provide some up to date first hand experience with Trak Racer. I also just bought another thing (keyboard tray) from them yesterday and it is already shipped out. Curious that so many people say they had issues. I assume a couple years ago they were much less efficient.

My Setup:
Pedals - Moza CRP2
Wheelbase - Moza R5 (soon to be R12)
Wheel - Moza KS Pro
Monitor - Samsung Odyssey G5 34” Curved
Rig - Trak Racer TR40s
Seat - Trak Racer GT Bucket Seat

Switching from stick to leverless….

Finally switched from stick to leverless and holy shit
I’ve been playing GGST and SF6 for a few years now on a fight stick, and recently got into Tekken 8. That’s where I REALLY started noticing how much I was handicapping myself. I couldn’t stay consistent with my inputs no matter what. That and my absolute death grip i’d end up having on the stick by the end of the match really screwed me.

Obviously there’s an element of “skill issue, git gud” lol, but I’ve always struggled with consistent inputs, especially when things get more complicated. In Tekken, where basically everything is directional inputs, I started noticing it WAY more.

So I’m thinking about it and like 30 minutes later I said fuck it and bought a Haute42 C16 (impulse buyer)

It showed up early this morning and i was able to get in a few minutes on Tekken with it. Within like 5 minutes I was hitting inputs with what felt like almost 100% consistency. The weirdest part was how natural it felt almost immediately. I wasn’t thinking about where the stick was, how far I needed to move it, etc. I just pressed the button and the input happened.

My Mayflash F500 V2 was never bad, but it always felt just a little awkward to me. I was constantly thinking about the stick during matches. With the C16, that feeling is just… gone.

And god damn, this thing is NICE. The build quality, how comfortable it is, how slim it is, the mechanical switches, the super tactile feeling of the buttons, the RGB around the edges. Everything about it feels way more premium than I expected. Also the ability to very quickly swap the artwork on it is so nice. they even sent some blank templates to design yourself. I’m giving it to my gf to doodle on :)

I know the C16 isn’t some crazy high-end controller, but for ~$80-90 this thing is absolutely blowing my mind.
I genuinely feel like my eyes have been opened for the first time lmao.

Curious what everyone else’s experience was switching from lever to leverless. Did anyone else have that immediate “holy shit” moment or did it take you a while to adjust?
