Finally switched from the old R4 gold with ys menu to DS Pico.

Gotta say, I'm very impressed. I decided to go with a simple DS lite theme.

Switching over was very simple, I just copied the games directory from the R4 to the Pico (along with the .sav files) and all of my games and saves are just there.

Honestly a really nice unit for £31!

It needs a bit of a clean. But it's in great condition for its age!

Okay. So I just picked up an original, 1995 NeoGeo controller.

I already have the 8bitdo and I just wanted to make this post for anyone on the fence abouti buying the 8bitdo.

ABCD buttons:

These are 1:1 identical in feel. 8bitdo knocked the ball out of the park here. In a side-by-side test, they feel exactly the same. The same bump, pressure, sound.

Start and select:

The 8bitdo is much stiffer here. Whether that's down to 30 years of use, or if it always had a softer membrane, I don't know. But the original takes it here.

The Control Stick:

Both feel clicky, and have that tactile 8 way snap. But the OG feels slightly better. It has a slightly larger range of movement. But honestly, it would be difficult to tell without having both in your hand.

I think for the price, the 8bitdo is a great reproduction. It's not 100% perfect, but unless you've used the original a lot, I doubt most would notice.

Playing: Populous the Beginning (PS1)

I absolutely love this game. For a bit of context, my best friend at school had this on PC, I had a ps1, and I eventually ended up getting the PS1 version.

Been a long time since I've played, but my muscle memory seems to be returning for the controls.

I mean, it did say that was his name....
