After playing ds games on my n3ds for almost ten years I tried them on an old dsi for nostalgia. I’m honestly surprised about the difference. It’s a topic many talked about before but I didn’t think it would be that bad.

I ended up buying myself a 3ds and a dsi (not on the photo unfortunately) and to my surprise I ended up playing more with the ds than the 3ds, I love how light it is and after trying some games I ended up playing an obscure death note game I never heard of and ace attorney.
Unfortunately now I have to buy every other ace attorney games...xD
Anyways, might be one of the best familly consoles I ever played with
Ciao, in questi giorni ho ritrovato in casa la mia vecchia m3i v2 e2. Premetto che non sono un esperto in questo campo ma mi piace molto smanettare con l'elettronica. Sono possessore di un DSi 1.4.5 con Twilight e unlaunch, ma volevo comunque rimettere in vita la mia vecchia flashcard. Ho provato ad installare Twilight, ho provato con ys menu e poi ho provato con il suo originale M3 Sakura ma niente. Il Launcher originale DSi all'inizo la leggeva come Danny Phantom e dopo il flash del firmware (per fortuna andato a buon fine) viene letta come chessmaster. Su unlaunch e su Twilight la scheda viene riconosciuta come corrotta... Facendo un attenta analisi sulla schedina noto che due PIN del chip principale sono in corto. In passato io e mio fratello abbiamo usato quella flashcard senza problemi nel nostro vecchio DSi (non 1.4.5). Ragazzi le ho provate veramente tutte ma non parte. Nel Launcher originale non da neanche errori, fa solo schermo superiore bianco e sotto nero, con rumore statico negli speaker, segno di conflitto tra byte (?) Dopo una lunghissima conversazione con Gemini escludendo tutte le possibilità mi viene consigliato di prendere il saldatore e togliere il ponte di stagno. Ora sono in vacanza ma presto tornerò a casa, non vedo l'ora di farla funzionare nuovamente. Se avete consigli o qualcosa da dire in merito non esitate a commentare.

I finally got my hands on a DSi LL Classroom edition!!!! And it’s in AMAZING shape!!🥹
So, I bought this GBA Flashcart, right? And I have an 2GB SD cart. It starts up like normal, takes me to the menu of all my roms, loads one of them up and...... Boom, white screen. This isn't a problem with the roms, trust me, I checked. Does anyone have any advice?
EDIT: I also just tested the same cartridge on my own OG GBA. It also doesn't work, it just has the same effect!
Hinge is cracking so it probly needs a reshell. Screens prety yellow and the Evo ds probly needs alot of updating...I'm thinking a transparent black body and keep the red top. Wondering if I should replace screens or if it would be worth it. How bad do people think they look? Where do I even start updating the cyclops evolution anyway....the company's not around anymore and I cant recall EVER do8ng any software updates on it.

Someone local to me is selling this for $125, what do you think? I have two DS Lites somewhere, but they both have sticky buttons and screen issues, so I'm debating if it's worth fixing them or just replacing them. I mostly want to play GBA and Original DS games, so I don't absolutely need a 3DS capable console, but the option to play those games is nice too. I'd end up modding it, so the cartridges aren't a huge sell, just a bonus.
This might be a highly discussed topic already but I’d like to have a 2026 view on it.
I got my hands on some physical cartridges of NDS games I never got the chance to play, like Chronotrigger, Pokemon Black/White/platinum, Zelda Spirit tracks/ Phantom hourglass. Additionally I want mod it to play some GBA and GBC games on it as well instead of buying something like an Anbernic RG SP, you know… OG hardware feels more genuine.
I do have a New 3DS (and XL) but since all the comparisons online about those consoles stretching the DS games, I can’t unsee it.
Seems the DSi/XL are the go to consoles for DS games, however I am having a difficult time deciding on the regular or XL model.
I know the XL model comes with IPS screens, but are the TN screens of the DSi really that “bad”/worse?
Since the XL screens are almost twice the size of the regular DSi, do the images look blurry or pixelated since the amount of pixel are the same?
Also the colors of the XL are not the most interesting in my opinion, the top colors with a glossy finish and black/greyish bottom are not my cup of tea.
The metallic finishes on the regular DSi are so pretty, especially the dark blue one.
For those who have held these devices and played on them for long sessions, what’s your opinion on the screens, formfactor-comfort?
I recently got Mortal Kombat for my DS, and I have never played Mortal Kombat before. I keep getting my ass kicked by the trip move Stryker does in the video. Can anyone please tell me how to do it?
Now almost 95% of the match renders at 30fps (94.something, close enough). Starting to feel like a real game now. Just need to chase down an intermittent grab throw animation bug.

Compromises have been made such as not all visual effects are being played, most are only playing frame 0 of a multi frame animation (Mario's up b coin attack).
Still have some float calculations going on in places.
So much more optimization has to take place before I can add 4 fighters on screen with items and be playable, but this 2p "demo" is basically done!
