Was going to share these with r/TheWayWeWere, but maybe they'll be enjoyed more here...

The subreddit r/thewaywewere requires photos to be at least 40 years old. Welp, this was only 38yrs ago.

(WOG Day 1988 aboard USS Midway enroute Freemantle, Aus to home port in Yokosuka, Jap. with a brief pause in the Philippines for Operation Classic Resolve. Before nearly capsizing when she did a 24° combined pitch/roll to port. If it had been to starboard, I wouldn't be posting this)

Enjoy.

Old Tucson Studios, ~1984

My family moved to Tucson from the Northeast. We had many friends & family come visit.

There were many places we took them to, but Old Tucson Studios was my favorite.

Camping in Wildwood, NJ (1977ish)

Went camping with three generations of my paternal family. We went to the beach during the day, and at night we ate and sat around the fire and bonded. *(not a smart phone to be found)*

Bowman's Dept Store, Harrisburg, PA. (c.1940)

My Aunt Nora and I believe her sister Peg, around 1940-42 (based on other photos of her that are dated).

In front of... the original Bowman's department store, a small chain in the Harrisburg area (they also had stores in Kline Village and Camp Hill). Closed by 1979; currently offices. Their main competition would have been Pomeroy's, which was at 3rd & Market Sts. in Harrisburg, PA.
