Looking for a system with an emphasis on courtly intrigue

Hi all! I love books like Kushiel’s Dart and Swordspoint and other “fantasy of manners” type stories with balls and fashion, duels and affairs. I’d like to make my own setting for this kind of thing, if possible. I’ve seen Houses of the Blooded and Court of Blades but could use some help explaining what makes one more suitable than the other or looking for any other systems that could help me tell a pseudo-Renaissance story of intrigue

Need some help making the game more favorable towards my own setting.

Hello all,

I am looking to run my first game of Mork Borg soon and while I love the setting, I’d rather design my own world and experience it piece by piece with the players, having it come together. That said, I was/am torn between this system and OSE for the campaign. My issue is two-fold: I want there to be gunpowder weapons (which seem to exist and I’ve seen them, they look good) and I’d like to find classes that could fit in anywhere. I found that, flavor wise, the classes included in the base game have the default setting in mind. Are the d44 paths of power classes good as a more “generic” batch of classes while keeping the flavor?

I hate having obsessive, looping thought cycles

I have OCD. I was doing some writing and world building for books I want to write and TTRPG campaigns I want to run and I have completely, utterly, wrapped myself around the axel and have made myself fucking panic about it. I can’t decide on a tone for my setting and I can’t decide how supernatural I want it to be and I’ve literally myself sick to my stomach thinking about this and I just wanted it to be fun! I just wanted to write a world with pirates and gunpowder empires and now I’m stuck and sad because I can’t bend this to fit both a book and a TTRPG setting and I know this is so stupid and there are a million other issues out there but it sucks when your hobby makes you spiral

Looking for a system that will let me run grimdark, pike and shot stories in my own setting.

Hi all! I’m building a grimdark, supernatural, pike and shot setting with two continents: each with three empires. One continent is based on the HRE, France, and Russia and the other is based on the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals. I’m trying to find a good game system for this world. Zwrihander and Black Powder and Brimstone both seem like great picks. Id like my setting to have some magic and monsters. I’m curious what people say about these games or if there is a 3rd option out there.

A list of non-western Game of Thrones type stories?

I love Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire. Here is what I think defines these stories

  1. Political intrigue
  2. Multiple POVs
  3. A rich world
  4. Villains are both mundane and magical.
  5. Complex characters.

I know that’s all very simple, maybe someone smarter than me can condense it better. But I was wondering, are there a lot of books out there like Game of Thrones? Particularly those based in a non-western setting?

I know about Raag of Rta and Dandelion Dynasty.

Is there a Japanese game of thrones (other than shogun)? An Egyptian one? A Mesoamerican one? An Eastern European one? Sub-Saharan Africa? And so on?

New to Bollywood and would love to find a historical/mythological epic

Hi all! I’m an American who hasn’t really seen a Bollywood movie before but I’ve become very interested in India and South Asia as a whole lately. One of my favorite movies of all time is the original Spartacus. I was wondering if there were any Bollywood films that are like epic fantasy? I was also wondering if there are any that adapt stories like the Mahabharata, something I’ve been fascinated by recently.

Lastly, where can I legitimately watch these movies as an American? I only speak English sadly.

Long time LOTR fan who needs some clarification. I plan on reading The Great Tales soon. Is it worth reading History of Middle-Earth after?

I remember seeing these big great tales and history box sets. Is there one that included unfinished tales and Silmarillion as well?

Somewhat new to Doom, looking for women-fronted bands.

Hi all! I’ve been leaning away from my typical power metal haunts and want to try some more doom metal. I’m not a fan of harsh vocals, I prefer clean but an occasional dip into harsh is fine. I’m looking for bands with female vocals, I’ve heard of Alunah but am wondering what else is out there! Thank you!

EDIT: I can’t respond to everyone but thank you! I now have a lot to listen to!!

Stuck in a musical rut lately, could you use some help finding a new genre to dive into

Hi all! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I’m stuck in a bit of a musical rut. My primary diet has been heavy metal and power metal. My favorite albums of all time are Piece of Mind by Iron Maiden and Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche. I’ve been bouncing off of a lot of metal music lately and the only band I keep coming back to is Ghost. I could use some advice for finding a new genre or group of bands to dive into for a bit. I like the energy of metal but sometimes it’s just too much.
