Tous les Jours Surprise Cake Bag, South Salt Lake

Was off work for the holiday Friday, so when the surprise cake bag went up for grabs, decided to go get one. The cake was cracked pretty badly across the top (which is why I assume it was on TGTG) but was so pretty nonetheless! It turned out to be the ube cloud cake, which was super tasty and surprisingly light. A great deal and I'm happy I got to try a cake I might not have otherwise!

Paper Theater

After someone asked what the paper theater kits were, and someone else replied to my reply saying to post some of the ones I've made, here are a couple! I have more photos of some of the other Ghibli ones I've made, but can't currently find them, so I will make another post later.

The Spirited Away one is the largest one I've made, the kit was a gift from my sister. The wooden one I made and gifted to Adam Savage of Mythbusters at my local fan convention a few years ago. He's a big Ghibli fan and has cosplayed as Totoro and No Face before at cons. I don't like the wooden kits, they are really fragile. But he loved it, so that's what counts. 😄 Amazon has some kits, I also have seen a few at Barnes and Noble, and I've also ordered some directly from Japan.

Sir Walter Candy Co. , South SLC

I wouldn't have known about this place were it not for them joining TGTG! $10.99 for what is listed as a $21 value. The store is bright and charming, and I ended up buying a couple more treats on top of my surprise bag. It's listed as a hidden gem on the app, check it out sometime!

Thank you Arashi.

I've personally been a fan for 17 years, so this is hitting me pretty hard. In 2011 I finally fulfilled my bucket list dream of going to Japan, just seven months after the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami. It was so incredible to watch their TV programs in real time, buy my own merchandise, and especially see from all the advertisements, commercials and by talking to people just how beloved they are.

i just wanted to share some of the photos I took in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima at that time. After I came back, they absolutely got me through some of the worst, darkest points in my life. I will forever be grateful to them and will treasure all my memories. (I do want to apologize for the photo quality! I had a cheap digital camera at the time and was always excited when I saw them while out and about!)

MythBusters Narrator REVEALED: The Voice Behind the Show

As a fan who will always stop to watch a Mythbusters episode every time one is on somewhere, this was an especially fun episode of Kari and Tory's podcast!

Lemon herb butter salmon with asparagus risotto for Mother's Day!

My notoriously picky elderly mom enjoyed this, so it will go into regular dinner rotation!

Finally was able to reserve the coveted full cake bag! (and was surprised there were actually about three up for grabs!) Got the strawberry gateau, which retails for $42 on their website, for $16.99. Also bought a really pretty drink I have to share a photo of. 😄

I would set up a notification in the app for this one, right now it's saying to check at 9 pm tonight (4/13) for availability for tomorrow!
