I used to think the fault is entirely government but I think the issues are much wider.

Here the roads are so clean but the flip-side is no one is actually cleaning those roads — it’s just that people don’t litter on streets. So cleanliness is done by community/people, but construction is also top notch and that is government doing their end of bargain. In India we lose on both ends - construction is often poor or in between, while public litters around so much.

Here lane driving is norm and not the exception. Rules are strong.

Here things like public libraries are better than any paid library can get. The roads in a small county are better than poshest society in India. Air is so much cleaner and the fun part is a 1,000 sqyard in posh society suburbs of tier1 costs less than a tier-2 city. Cities like Jaipur, Indore are costlier than Seattle when it comes to bungalows.

Lakes, public toilets, public swimming pools are all so well maintained. Footpaths are the norm.

I visited some FANG offices and they were all literally empty by 6PM.

All public toilets had soap, can you imagine ?

But on the bright side — India is so well connected with public transport especially things like autos, tirri, shared autos, buses, metro etc. anyone can travel with very limited budget but here there’s almost no public transport and everyone uses a car

Hello - I found a new gig it’s remote but my client wants to pay in USDT. Do I need to pay 30% flat VDA tax on the amount or can I still show it as consulting income and tax it like normal 44AD ITR ?

Hi I’m lost in my life and visiting Seattle for couple of weeks to visit my family! I’d like to do or see things or meet people who would inspire me! I’m travelling almost 24 hours in flights for this journey and I really look forward to make the best out of my visit. My interests are AI, Nature, overall I’m a nerd and a bit autistic. What are the places I must visit in Seattle that would match my vibe? Anything is fair game, I am on a budget though so don’t send to Michelin star restaurants. My family is employed unlike me so I don’t expect them to show me around on weekdays .. I henceforth now cede control of my trip to the hivemind!

I’m male born in 95’. Wife born in 94’. Married for 2.5 years. No kids yet. Living in family house so no rent. I’m unemployed for 1 year, wife’s employed ( average IT job).

Wife feels her window or clock is ticking down and wants to have kids. I too want to have kids but my career has taken a hit. I was a startup operator of ZIRP ( zero interest rate ) era but roles like that those don’t exist anymore and a crazy amount of my ex colleagues are also unemployed.

At this point I need to reinvent myself to find gainful employment again which could even take 2-5 years if I decide to do a degree. ( not even sure how much that would help in AI era)

Well the good part is I have decent savings. I have at least 5 year runway in savings as my last role was highly paid.

Now I can’t decide for my life should I have kid right now or not. I know no one can make this decision for me but for those of you dads who have been through tough times when deciding a bring someone into this world — any experience or guidance will be extreme helpful..

Some more additional info:-
1.) we have purchased a house but its interiors are not done yet
2.) we are living in India
3.) my savings are high from Indian standards (500k here would go as far as 1-2m in USA)
4.) I took a 1 year break from life overall because I was looking after a bedridden parent for 7 years. After losing them last year I lost my will to work and do anything. I was depressed but I undertook lot of effort and getting back on my feet.

I had to move back to Ghaziabad from Bangalore in 2018. In 2017 I had option to go to USA and study and get a job there. However both opportunities were let go because of family medical issues and I had to stay closer to home.

However 10 years down the line and living here I almost regret the life here. I mean I love the access it offers to Delhi, wide roads ( at least NH 9), and decent food options but the overall ethical standards of the city are too low.

I believe every city has a social fabric and ghaziabad really ranks low in that regard. I feel like I’m stuck here with very limited career options. Most people doing well in business here have to engage in fraud, tax theft, and corruption. There are barely any decent job opportunities. Most of the people lie all the time, you can’t even trust your family or friends, overall I feel like life is very shitty here especially for someone like me who hold myself to a higher moral or ethical standard. Those who have lived in better cities — have you felt the difference? Or is this the same story in developed parts of the world as well? I lived few months in Dubai and people/govt definitely felt much better there. Fraud ratio was 1/10 not 9/10.

I don’t want to go to showroom for my 6 year old car — they will quote me 50k-1L for repairing my car ( market value of car would be around 4-5L after depreciation). I want second best option, someone who is almost as good as showroom and preferably charges about 30-60% of what showroom will cost for denting/bumper repair etc. Any suggestions for me ? Ghaziabad preference

Hello my family members recently applied for residential plot scheme at trans Ganga Unnao and I’m against them spending money at that scheme but they told me it’s practically Kanpur and it will do well. I don’t know much but the district name was Unnao in the scheme. Did anyone apply ? Should I stop my family if they get a plot there ? The auction reserve price is 25k sqm which is quite low compared to what we see in Delhi ncr but it’s Unnao ffs.. help

My situation is unique to this group so thought you all might be interested in reading this. For starters, I am 31 years old and I am based near in india and I have never really worked outside india I have been through different roles in the tech and startup space. My current portfolio is : stocks/mf current value :3cr, house (partially paid) : 1.2cr / .8cr loan remaining , physical gold : 0.5cr, agricultural lands ; 1cr (1 acre approx). I’m not counting my wife’s savings she probably has 0.5cr in jewellery and 0.4cr in stocks.

My annual income expense is around 40L-50L. I know it’s absurd but I’m heavy spender

Now the twist — I’m unemployed for 1 year, I was in a high stress startup role for most of my twenties and got burned out physically and mentally and taking time to heal myself. I have trouble hearing back from job portals because of gap. I’m my journey of rediscovery and finding gainful employment. My target this year is to find a 20-30LPA job to keep my sanity and feel productive again.
