Does anyone know what happened at Skinner Dog Park Sunday?
My neighbor said she saw ambulances and there was blood spattered everywhere.

Picture this: MMC and FMC are living in a fancy hotel on a private island, all owned by the MMC. I think he is some type of crime lord. He has 5-6 men working for him who are always around; I believe they even take some meals with them.

It seems that the FMC is a captive of the MMC; she alludes to this constantly, trying to get a rise out of him. When she does this, he does not engage and remains calm and kind.

He gives her everything she could possibly want, but she resents him and her captivity. I don’t think she even leaves their suite very often, and never without MMC or one of his guys to watch her. She is clearly going stir crazy.

At one point she “escapes” and goes into the little town on the island and realizes that MMC owns every building and business on the island. (I believe that she goes into a bakery and buys pastries.)

At some point, it is revealed that she is not his unwilling prisoner, but I cannot remember the details of the truth of their relationship.

I believe near the end there is some kind of danger and they have to make their way off the island. It’s possible that he gets shot and she tries to stay with him, is dragged away from him and to a boat against her will and consequently believes him to be dead. I am not sure about this last bit; it’s possible I am mixing that in from another book.

Does this ring any bells? I would love to read this book again. (On your part, who wouldn’t want to be a goddess?) It’s been a few years since I read this, so it has been out for a while.

I am seriously considering making the move from the east coast, but I have two Chihuahuas that are a big part of my life. Are there many dog friendly places and opportunities to interact with other dog parents? Are there many smaller pups like mine, or is it mostly large dogs? (I know that’s hard to judge.)
