Acclaimed switch games you just don’t get

Give me some gaming hot takes but specifically for Switch Exclusives/acclaimed switch games you just never clicked with or got the hype with!!

Maybe a game you gave a few hours and bounced off or a game you’ll die on the hill on of not being very good. I only ask as I’ve tried a few Switch essentials and I’ve completely been lost at all the hype it’s got (Metroid prime I’m looking at you / breath of the wild I’m kind of looking at you) it’ll make me feel better knowing I’m not the only one who just never clicked with certain games others loved

JRPG problem

Slow games and SLOW games

Why do I enjoy slow games like Into the Breach, Slay the Spire and Yakuza, but bounce off traditional JRPGs like Persona, Dragon Quest and Octopath?? I wanna be into jrpgs so bad like I want it to click but I just can’t with the constant over-explaining of the simplest thing, the sometimes cringe dialogue, the baby feeding tutorials etc. It’s so bizzare because most people who bounce off those games would surely not enjoy LAD or turn based stuff I’d imagine? Like surely you’re in one camp or the other?

Feeling guilty about not enjoying flagship Nintendo

I feel guilty for not finding my series yet

So got a switch 2 today alwyas been a ps guy or xbox but needed something I could just play in mini bursts and idk just fancied something totally different. Now the actual console is cool I get it but I’ve tried breath of the wild and it just did not click for me like I understood the appeal but I just found the constant travelling in it boring tbh and the combat kind of repetitive and idk just wasn’t my jam.

Now I’m playing Metroid dread and again it’s just not clicking but I wanna find my Nintendo series! For you guys who have been life long fans of Nintendo or the series I’ve mentioned will I eventually find my series?

Like do any of you guys not click with those games but have other games that make the switch 2 worth having and like you’ve found your series. Idk I guess it’ll make me feel better if I know there’s big Nintendo veterans who don’t like the games I’ve mentioned but they might say fire emblem or Mario is their thing

One big switch 2 game and one addictive smaller game

Buying the switch 2 today and what is one big Nintendo exclusive that’s a must and a smaller game to play along side it? Just a bit of background info I bounced off of breath of the wild which I know is crazy to not be in love with that game. I was thinking astral chain and into the breach? Please don’t give me games that go on for hours I’m talking maybe a 20-30 hour game and then just one you can dip in and out of but specifically that feels at home on the switch 2/really takes advance of it

One Switch Exclusive that doesn’t live up to the hype and you don’t get and one that absolutely does and you’d recommend

Hey so I’m new to the Nintendo world and I’m currently trying breath of the wild and it’s fine but obvs plenty of other exclusives I wanna try. What was one game for you that you just never got the hype for and then one that absolutely lives up to the hype you’d recommend

SWITCH PURCHASE HELP

Which switch to get/background on my Console experience

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG AF BUT PLS HELP IF ABLE

So long story short most been a PlayStation boy but then ended up with a ps5 and series S. Played them for years but eventually 2 things happened. Number 1 I started feeling guilty I wasn’t being productive (it never got in the way of life is just I’m 28 so feel silly playing PlayStation) and number 2 and tbh this was the main reason I sold them it was just there were no more games I was dying to play. I mean I wanted to try some but I’d completed most of the ones I wanted to play.

So I trade them in and now like a week or two later that time I thought I’d be productive I’ve now just been on my phone hahaah and replaced game time with phone time. So now I’m really tempted to get a switch purely based on the fact it ticks the boxes of games I’m excited to play, won’t feel guilty playing it as it’s a lot more pick up and play vibes, I travel a lot , it’s got games I’ve never played the list goes on.

My question is which switch do I get! I don’t wanna commit to the switch 2 because I’ve no idea if I’ll like the console or games? I’m more curious about it than anything? So I don’t wanna commit big money to a console and game I might like. I was originally gonna get a new one but the decision I’ve come to and let me know what you think is…

Just buy a secondhand switch lite off of CEX and then maybe one “Nintendo” focused/coded game that isn’t really in need of a tv so I’m thinking Metroid dread? What do you guys think? For the switch lite boxed and Metroid dread it’s like £155 so not a big comittment at all but if I hate it not big money lost and if I love it I can just upgrade to switch 2 later down the line!!

Just for reference my game taste is all over the place?? I love rogue legacy, Arkham city , slay the spire , apex legends, all the ps5 single player focused stuff like god of war etc. but some games no matter how many hours I put into I just cannot get into I’m talking Baldurs gate 3, Witcher, persona 5 but then I love like a dragon so??

I only mention this as I know a lot of the switch appeal is games like fire emblem and Zelda and they’re very jrpg coded?? But Yh does that sound good or do you guys just say avoid at all costs or just jump straight in to the switch 2.

It’s also worth mentioning most of the games I wanna try like super Mario odyssey and Metroid and stuff aren’t like in need of the big screen hence why I was gonna get the lite.

Sorry for the long post!
