Found this bad boy at my local Walmart for $15. It has incredible fenestration/variegations that were impossible to pass up, despite obvious leggings/damage. Assuming that my goal is to maximize maturity/variegation coming back, should I trim the longer leggy vine(s) node for node, propagate them, and then replant them in the same pot, or should I pin the nodes down to the soil, by spiraling the vine around the cuttings inside the pot? Second question, should I just repot the whole thing altogether? I know I’m gonna have to do something pretty drastic to the vine to make her (and hopefully her kids) bushy again. The substrate it’s in seems to have fine drainage, and it is also in a self-watering pot. Any advice, criticisms or directions? TIA!
I know this is technically a ciccus discolor, but I’m new to these plants and I wanted to ask the community. What do I do in this situation? These 2 leaves are the only ones affected, and they are at the very top of the vine that is climbing its pots hanging trellis.
The very bottom right of monstera seems to be pushing out a new axial bud/aerial root, perhaps? You can vividly see it in the first 2 pics, the 3rd pic is an example of how it looked before the growth, just a week and a half ago now!
Setup:
Barinna T1S vertical grow light @ 7” away
2ft by 4in moss pole, 4” terracotta diameter pot
I water using my own organic mild fish tank fertilizer (have been doing this for 2 months, I plan on flushing my substrate out in about another month or so with clean distilled water, to avoid hefty mineral deposits)
Since my new leaf showed/buying my baby, this is the first sign of actual plant growth! Please, inform me! Is this an axial bud forming, one where an aerial root will inevitably grow out of? Is it something else! Here’s the comparison pics. First pic is from just last week, last pic/vid are of the new growth/plant, also, just acquired a vertical T1S by Barinna!
