Tips?

Tips?

Hello!

I am a intermediate plant owner and I just had a few questions about my new find! I went to krogers and found this Thai Con for only 40! But my questions are what are the next steps? Should I replace soil or should I put in leca? If so, can anyone recommend any type of leca or soil?

Update 20 days after reporting, Monstera Thai Con

My Monstera Thai con is doing great! 20 Days ago she was repotted. She also got a moss pole and a growing light. She showed me her happiness by developing two new air roots into the moss pole. 💚

My newest leaf 🤩

First time growing a monstera, and this guy is outside getting direct sun. Pretty happy with how my $20 little plant is doing.

everything was fine and now??

Two bottom leaves are yellowing I’m assuming overwatering, but I was following a schedule and it seemed to be happy for months… I’ve bee holding off on water now. It sits off to the side 2 feet from a west facing window and also has two barina grow lights along the wall about 2 feet way. Should I just keep holding off on water? It’s rooting all the way up into the moss pole and seems fine. Not sure why it seems to be so wet. Should I keep it out of its pot and have it in its clear grow pot? I usually have it inside this large clay pot, possibly not letting it dry out enough??

When is the right time to put it into a pot?

I got this small cutting, and it has grown a lot of roots and a new leaf has started. I'm not sure when the roots are ready for the soil.

Found this in the wild (of a plant store) this weekend 😍

Came upon this massive & gorgeous Thai Constellation at a plant shop in downtown Santa Cruz this weekend. I couldn't resist taking a video and snapping some pics. So impressive

Where to put it?

When I got it (last year), it was unfurling a new leaf. That leaf still looks unhappy. The youngest leaves died because i wasn't watering it enough.

Where I was living up until a few weeks ago, it wasn't getting as much light, it was colder (<20c/68f) but maybe more humid (40-60). Where I am now has a sun room and a conservatory both are south facing. Both locations are hot (25-30c/77-86f) during the day but at night they might drop to 15c/59f maybe lower. The humidity is around 30 according to my meter.

Im not sure where to put it. If i have in in the hotest part of the house how can I help with humidity.

What’s going on with my Thai Con?

As you can see there’s some damage to this leaf (well 3 out of 5 leaves). I noticed this starting when I got home from a 10 day trip about 6 weeks ago. My house sitter did not water, I lost a couple plants 😡

At first I assumed it was under watered and probably not getting enough light. But now I’m not sure. I’ve checked for pests a bunch of times and couldn’t see anything. Then I saw something about rust fungus so that got me curious.

Anyone have experience with this?

Where to add supports to my Thai con

I just got this Thai constellation a couple weeks ago and she already has a new leaf, I have it in a pot like one inch bigger than the root ball w super chunky soil and I have no idea where to add a support so I just have it rigged like this for now. I had it in my east window and just today moved it directly in front of my southern facing window for max light. What do I do about the support and is it too far away ?

thai con rescue help

popped to the garden centre today and saw this guy on the side… it was the very last one on the shelf and looking kinda rough, but i simply couldn’t leave it!

i’m pretty sure this is a thai con, correct me if im wrong. i’m gonna repot asap as i think the substrate is way too thick. the biggest leaf has quite a bit of mechanical damage but also is very droopy and curled inwards, im pretty sure this must be a watering issue but was wondering if anyone had any input/thoughts just by looking at it from these pictures!

gonna have to get a good look at the roots, im hopeful there’s no rot since it’s only really the one leaf that is struggling? but im not sure tbh. it has fenestrated on the biggest leaf so i can tell it was happy at SOME point in its life

this is also my first thai con (i have loads of deliciosas) so any tips for the difference in care would be appreciated!!!! thanks

I really want to save this

I really want to save this but just can't justify $30. How are y'all haggling with your Walmarts. Mine has a begonia that's just a rotten stem and only marked it down to $10. It feels a shame to leave a Thai with such nice variegation to die

Tips and tricks to keep happy

I just brought her home 4 days ago and gave her a good shower. She is currently in quarantine in my southwest bedroom getting good light and have a ceiling fan running. Are these temperamental plants, any hints, for best care?
