Best catfish fry anywhere in Jax? I'm buggin' lol

Any suggestions for a delicious fried catfish plug in Jax?

I was craving fried catfish and decided to take a risk on the closest barbeque joint that offered it - Mojo No. 4. Previously, I revisited The Pig and Snapper's and tried a nearby DD ghost kitchen, but none were incredible.

Respectfully, while everything else at Mojo's was delicious.... I grew up enjoying Southern catfish fries, and this plate is entirely NOT what I'd expect from a bbq joint in the South. MAYBE I could expect this if served to me from up north, or perhaps from a landlocked region within a foreign country 😭

I'm not near the beach so I'm assuming I just need to do some driving to discover happiness. Ya girl is craving THE BEST AYCE or per plate fried catfish. Please save me. 🙏🏽

Close up of caterpillar peets!!

Figured you guys might appreciate this! This is a gulf fritillary caterpillar.

I'm propagating a bunch of passion flower vines in my mud room near a broken window. This little friend snuck in here a week ago, and he's quintupled in size 🥺😍

If it seems like he's going to decimate my props, I plan on moving him to the nearest established vine I can find as they only eat passion flower vine!

Have a great day!

First time alocasia owner (no, seriously)....PLEASE help!

Last week, I bought a grow cabinet for 125 USD off marketplace - it came with a "few alocasia". When we met up for the exchange, I was handed an ENTIRE BOX of alocasia. On one hand, what an INSANE stroke of luck, on the other... HALP....I'VE NEVER GROWN A SINGLE ALOCASIA BEFORE!

Been around long enough to understand that there are a variety of creative ways I could kill off these babies, but also sometimes alocasia just decide to take the long nap just because they get bored.... I'd like to try to avoid all of this, can you save us 😆😭

I have been researching, but specific advice is sorely sought:

Questions/Concerns:

  1. About half of the alocasia are in pon and perlite....the other half are in fluval/perlite.... one is in spaghum and leca. >Is this user preference or do some alocasia cultivar have special needs? I have all substrate options available.

  2. Almost all are in self-watering setups. Some are looking rough and don't have wicks, so I was gonna repot into similar sized self-watering setup with nylon wick >Should I avoid repotting? Will any straight up die if I try to?

  3. The Polly Aurea is in a traditional chunky aroid mix...leave it be, or transition to semi hydro? >I'd prefer to do all plants semi hydro, but I don't want to kill it if it's delicate lol

  4. The grow box features blue/red LED and the LED are about 6-10 inches away from the smallest plants, 3-4 inches away from the tallest. >Is this okay? Do they need more distance? I planned on transitioning plants to full-spectrum in a larger environment once mature

  5. RH% in the grow box is around 65%. Temp 75°F. Should I add a fan/ventilation? >I open the doors 1-2x a day for airflow

  6. Do you wait until the self-watering pot's water reservoir is dry or do you keep water in it at all times? >Self watering pots have historically been my enemy

  7. Are corms something that I will be able to notice and dig out, or are they accessible only during repotting? >If I don't remove them I'm assuming they grow into young plants like a normal pup/offshoot?

Thank you for your time!!!! I want to honor the former owners' hard work by having these babies THRIVE! Any advice is extremely helpful and I will tell stories of your wisdom for the generations of alocasia to come.

Ps. All alocasia that were labelled are turned so you can read the label if you zoom. The rest have no identification. If you need me to post any additional pics or footage etc say the word.

Philodendron Persimmon Princess

My absolute favorite Princess variant is now in my home 🥺🥹 The second I laid my eyes on this cultivar I became obsessed and knew I had to have her.

Was finally able to find a TC but it melted...I had zero luck on finding any sort of legitimate replacement afterwards...until last Sunday! Never hurts to ask a seller if they have any specific plants in the back. Well...it hurts your wallet, because they might surprise you with a Persimmon Princess! Lol

Persimmon Princess and Nuclear Congo

My dream Princess is finally mine! I am also glad to have this Congo tho my wallet is a little angry at me lol

I need to stop asking auction nurseries if they have royal court philos for sale because I will fold like a deck of cards lol, zero pressure 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

My first polka-dotted begonia!! "White Ice" :)

I finally got one of those polka dotted Begonia y'all show off!!! Mind blowing how it literally looks like someone stamped the leaves with white paint. I totally understand the fanfare about the polka dotted ones...pics REALLY don't do them justice.

It's so pretty and dainty, far more than my other begonias! I know this because I immediately snapped a stem of a leaf when I moved the plant from my car into my house 🫪😂

Do y'all put these on trellises or poles - what does it like the best? Have a great day :)

Found this Black Cardinal? On clearance 😭

Listen I'm 6 ft tall. This thing is flippin' massive. I'm so excited 🙂 it was only $14.49 😭😭😭😭

Edit: bonkers size comparison photo to a 2 inch Black Cardinal is in comments 🫪

Edit 2: for more polite language lol I was excited

String of Hearts I obtained today. It's so long!!

It's just about 7 feet long and has seed pods and little flowers, I am obsessed! 😍

I'm not keeping it outdoors, gonna keep it in my humidified sunroom in bright-indirect.

Any care tips unique to this plant would be welcome because I want to ensure this baby keeps thriving at its healthiest! I plan on harvesting the seeds.

I don't want to give up on this damn plant.

Literally what is happening with this calathea 😩😂💀 it's bleeding super dark and staining my skin. It's super crispy and curly. I have a *BLOOMING* MARANTA sitting NEXT TO IT, taunting us both. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I don't think this is coming from pests, because I have about 80 plants in the same room and obsess over them - they have no signs of any sort of infection.

Any advice is super appreciated 🙏🏽

3 months ago, the leaves started doing this, one by one, so I repotted the remaining healthy plant into slightly acidic chunkier soil and moved it to my sunroom. It seemed to help a lot and it stopped....doing this? But here we are....

One thing I've noticed is the new leaf that's unfurling looked healthy yesterday and now it looks like this.

Gets 12 hrs bright indirect light a day

Watered with distilled only, about once a week when it seems like it's starting to dry

Is in a room with 55-65% RH

Appreciate any tips.

Set up a mini greenhouse inside my sunroom :)

I'm proud of it, but It's also making me face reality about how many plants I own 🤣 (this is 1/3 of my collection 😩). Not all of these are rare but some are, I swear 🤠

Some of these plants are greedy and dramatic little gremlins... I was spending too much money keeping them properly humidified in and around my house, despite living in Florida. So, I decided to buy a mini greenhouse, installed the humidifier, some fans and T5 grow lights. So far I'm really happy with it.

Feedback and suggestions are requested and very welcome!! I'm new to the indoor greenhouse thing but I want my fancy/rare plants to live their best lives.

Court is in Session!

I'm getting closer to completing the Royal Court guys. I'm so excited, it's my favorite. 🤩 At this point everyone in my real life thinks I'm going overboard 🙂‍↔️ so I hope you guys appreciate it as much as I do!

Anyone else here collecting the Royal Court?

Pictured from left to right:

White Knight

Emerald King

Prince of Orange (this is what y'all said it was, so don't come at me lol)

Pink Princess Marble Galaxy

Red Anderson Pink Knight

Red King

White Wizard

Silver Sword

In pots: chopped down Burgundy Princess and Pink Princess (starting over is scary)

In seed tray:

Spiritus Sancti, Orange Princess, PPP Tricolor, White Princess, Royal Queen, Black Cardinal

I also have a Persimmon Princess in TC, not pictured

The few remaining ones I need to get are ghastly in price or really hard to find, so I'm taking my time. :)

Moooooom, they have mislabeled philos at IKEA again....

They're all listed as basic philodendrons except for the Birkins which are $5-$10 more lol

Pretty sure the left one is a Philo Moonlight (can someone confirm?) and 100% positive the other is a Philo Pink Princess Marble Galaxy.

I spent $30 on these two.....

....I JUST spent $15 on a 2 inch PPP marble galaxy last weekend....so I'm salty LOL, but quite excited to have the three more that come in this here pot 💀🤣

New additions: Red King and Red Sun!

I received these guys in the mail recently, and they are so pretty! These are my first red plants 🥹

It might look orange right now, but the Red King is going to have breathtakingly vibrant red leaves once it grows up, and I'm so stoked for it.

The Red Sun is literally a showstopper already. That COLOR is BONKERS 😍

Emerald King, bought to chop n' prop - thoughts?

Aaaah I'm so excited. I got it for 60 bucks because it needs some love. 😍

How would you approach this plant?

The aerial root system is BONKERS. I'm curious about the new leaf growing in the middle of the stem, too - it's the second pic. If the plant's going to continue pushing out new leaves amongst the stem, I don't necessarily want to chop it up too much, but I do think that the plant needs to be chopped at least in half...?

I was thinking prop n' chop after a few weeks of acclimation...? Stick it on a proper moss pole and see how it goes for now?

Any advice is appreciated!

Can someone help me ID this beauty?

I got it from Lowe's labelled as "houseplant". I think it might be a Begonia Rex Harmony Red Robin...? The young leaves get bright pink like a shimmery lipstick, tho

Any ID help is so appreciated. I've been trying to figure it out for a long time 🫠🫠🫠🫠

A lil bb ghost appeared :')

On one of my White Knights!

I know these offshoots don't live long since they have zero chlorophyll, but this lil pup showed up in early March and it's still truckin' along. Just look at 'im gooo! 🥹

Variegated monstera enjoyers: just LOOK at this rug I scored!!!

I bought this on Friday but as an avid aroid admirer and longtime fan of weird cultivars, I'm still freaking out over this rug and I probably will be for a very long time 😭 I got it on sale at World Market, picked it up in person.

I'm just going to pretend that it's design is supposed to be based off a Thai Constellation monstera deliciosa, because that's what I have!! It's the next pic 😂🤗

Philodendron White Knight doing some weird stuff..? Is it a WK?

Hello! Pictured is the before and after photo of the new leaf.

Apparently some White Knights can experience pink variegation but they're still considered White Knights instead of being classified as Red Andersons/Pink Knight...? Is this true?

Also, would y'all consider this coloration pink or grey? 🫪 I've NEVER seen this sort of coloration on my non-pink/red colored philodendrons prior to this.

Search engines are useless because of all the AI slop. I appreciate all your wisdom because I am so curious!

My Thai Constellation put out a (kinda) split leaf!

This is the 2rd leaf she's put out since I've had her in my possession, and I'm obsessed! 😍 The amount of variegation on this leaf is very surprising to me...
