What‘s wrong with my anthurium wendlingeri

The leaves started turning yellow and drying out, while the roots still seem fine. I keep it under an LED light board at around 8k lux, with humidity around 50–70%. Could this be sunburn?

First experience with tissue culture!

I found a tissue culture of monstera bulbs dust for fairly cheap and decided to give it a shot! I cleaned it really well when it got here and I have it rooting in moss. I also have it in super high humidity. If you have experience with tissue culture can you give me some tips? Hopefully the setup I have is ok!

How exactly does one go about acclimating a large plant to ambient humidity?

My melano has been in my cabinet for the entire time I've had it. When it was time to extend its pole I even rearranged the entire cabinet to accommodate it... that's how terrified I am to acclimate it. It went from having 5" leaves to 20" leaves in 8 months and I just really do not want to ruin the good thing we have going together 😂

But it's time, and I have no idea how to go about it. For context the cabinet has a humidifier and stays between 70-80%, and my ambient is like 55%. My first thought was to slowly stop using the humidifier but I don't want to mess up all the anthuriums in there because I don't plan on acclimating them yet. Is my only option to just take it out of the cabinet and hope for the best? I hear people in this sub talk about acclimating plants all the time so I know there has to be a method better than going whole hog all at once, but I have no idea what specifically that entails. Any advice/help is welcome!

Philodendron Quadricolor Knight putting out a super red leaf

This isn't the first time that this plant has put out a fairly red leaf (the pink-tinted one in the first picture was red when it first emerged), but this newest leaf is still deeply impressive, particularly the areas with the bright red tones.

I adore this plant and am thankful every day that my purchase of an aurea knight turned out to actually be quadricolor and give me such stunning leaves!

How do you guys deal with hostile plant people?

I have a lot of anxiety already and plants have been a great outlet for me. I accidentally sunburned a monstera aurea I was growing out so I decided to cut it. Naturally I took the best (2) and am trying to sell the rest. I had them rooting in water for 45 days then potted them up. I listed the freshly potted cuttings for $20 as it seemed fair to me since they’re not acclimated to their new pots yet. I’ve had people complain of my location, the fact that it’s cash only and that I do not have change. It’s $20 for a plant. I did not think it would be so serious. Trying to calm down after backing out of a sale because the buyer was wanting me to wait past the time of my availability. Maybe I’m too sensitive.

Philo emerald king..?

I'm not overly familiar with the emerald line but I've had this in prop which was very clearly a mislabel from the seller (was sold as Mon Mayuna, the original plant did look very similar to a mon with fuzzy roots and non self-heading growth) but every prop I've done from this looks like a Philo with new a new growth point at every node.

I know it's not a queen because of that bushy growth but I don't really know the differences between ice and king.

So is this looking like an emerald king to you?

New lighting from Rousseau

I got a new track light and wow it is BRIGHT!!

I was debating between Soltech, Barrina and this one from Rousseau Plant Care. Rousseau had a better warranty and adjustable beam angles on top of being cheaper. I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited to see my growth increase!

Also, at this time I only have one light on the track but you can have up to 5! It is mounted 4 feet from the wall. I will be purchasing more lights in the future once I get my custom shelving built. Which of course I will also share in the future!

Negative ~ (but not really) for me and my space this track had to be mounted to studs as these lights are fairly heavy, to prevent falling and damage to my ceiling, or plants! The provided sheetrock anchors would not have been sufficient for my plaster and lathe ceiling. Due to the spacing of the pre drilled holes in the track, and the not to-code stud spacing in my ceiling .lol. I had to drill an extra hole in the track and purchase longer screws to safely secure it. This is not the companies fault, I just live in an old house.

Wedding/Plants

My fiancé and I wanted a super small and simple wedding ceremony inside our living room and decided to build this arch with my monsteras and other houseplants surrounding it. It was such a fun and joyful day with the beautiful plants! I’m super proud of this arch and the plants came to great use (aside from giving me daily happiness) (^-^)

Plant con begonia haul - help with any of these beauties pls 🫶🏻

Pics of all begonias + up close pics of their substrates

I got these beautiful begonias at plant con Houston about a month ago and I’m curious about yalls advice for them bc they are all in substrates that I haven’t used for begonias before (I have one begonia maculata potted in chunky mix that is a happy grower)

Worth nothing - all of these live under a T5 grow light next to a humidifier.

I’m fairly new to begonia (but not at all new to plant care!) and would appreciate any and all advice.

Pink snow cap: this is in chunky perlite & sphagnum in a small pot with drainage. Honestly this one seems like it’s doing ok for now, but I have never kept a begonia in perlite & sphagnum. When it’s time to pot up, should I keep it in that? I have most of my collection in self watering so is that a possibility in a different substrate?

Pink urchin: this lil guy came in a small pot with a lid that seals in 100% humidity. It appears to only have sphagnum moss. I’ve checked it periodically and the moss has stayed moist without any watering. One leaf has a little gray edge on it now, though, so I’m wondering if it’s getting uppity in its setup. Should I keep it in a terrarium but a separate substrate? Should I leave it alone? Should I take it out of its terrarium and repot it in a different substrate?

Malachostica: this one appears to be in pon and small perlite and maybe sand ?? The bottom of the pot is some white substance I cannot identify lol. This has also been living inside 100% humidity dome and the small pot it is in does not have any drainage. Same q’s as the pink urchin. I’m least inclined to use pon out of any of these substrates, but I’m happy to be told otherwise.

Thaaaaanks if you read all of that and have any ideas lol. In an ideal world if I could move any of these to self watering that would be awesome!

How do you all afford plants?

I’ve always loved plants but wanted to collect more plants and expand my knowledge but anything costs a fortune.

I searched online for a not so common begonia on Etsy and then ✨✨✨25€✨✨✨ and the shipping is 15€.
Am I too poor for this hobbie ? lol

Maybe you guys have any Etsy eBay whatever pages recommendations that have good prices?
How do you all do? Order lots of them at once?

Teach me master!! I want plants that I can’t find on local nurseries!! 😭😭😭 I live in Portugal EUROPE btw

Red Stripe Fittonia

I found this white Fittonia with a random red stripe on a single leaf at a big box store several months ago. I waited until about 2 months ago to prop it because I wasn’t confident in my abilities yet. After waiting all of this time, I am finally seeing new growth. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? It looks like the coloring has made its way to the new growth!

Do you think the new leaves will match the donor leaf? I’m hoping they are striped and not fully pink.

Any info on what’s going on and why to expect would be appreciated!
