As a Canadian, It’s cheaper to buy this from Italy, than to buy it from the US. This can’t possibly be tariff nonsense, what the hell is going on?

“just buy it online”, okay, my $2 toy is now $48 👍

I know no one here can help solve this, I’m just pissed that it’s so hard to buy a $2 piece of broken plastic.

Looking to trade WWII for more modern models

I’m not looking for valuation or to sell, so I hope this post is allowed. I’m interested in collecting Cold War and later and I don’t want much WWII era, I’m hoping to find someone with the opposite goals!

The planes are a bit beat up but the tanks are in good shape. I’m looking for any jet era planes, ideally military. Small or larger scale MM are great. I’m not too picky about condition, and depending on the model I’m good with non-MM brands (Funrise, Imperial, etc). Hoping for 1-for-1 trades, but open to negotiation.

Please don’t offer to buy, I just want more models.

Two F-14s, Imperial and unknown.

They’re both metal, the Imperial model is from my childhood in the 90s. The green one is about 5% larger, and a tad slimmer. It has most of the same seams and body panels as the Imperial model, but with less detail. I found it at Value Village in a bag of other crappy knockoff land vehicles.

I plan to strip the green one, replace the rear wheels with something more MM sized, and paint it up in a classic Jolly Roger squadron scheme.

We call her “Earrings”

I’m in Southern Ontario, Canada, where we have a pretty good blend of grey, red and black squirrels. This guy has a very cute genetic marker! The first time I saw it, I thought it might have been a tick or leaf litter, but it’s symmetrical and clearly fur on closer viewing. She sticks around the neighbourhood, first spotted at least a month ago.

I just love seeing distinctive local critters :)

Looking for more stories involving insane relationship dynamics (examples within)

Hi folks, I’ve been reaching out of my comfort zone lately, and found that I’m enjoying stories that are basically just human-on-human drama (rather than my usual sci-fi/horror/military reads), but they need a crazy hook.

The best case scenario is a story which makes you wonder if there is something supernatural going on, or if the narrator is just losing their mind. Totally unhinged thoughts presented as normal.

Books I’ve read that gave me that exact vibe:

A Touch of Jen by Beth Morgan (this is the specific high I’m chasing)

Sky Daddy by Kate Folk (this made me feel protective of the main character. I was really rooting for her by the end)

American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis (doesn’t have to be this extreme, just a good example of an insane narrator).

Crash by J.G. Ballard (just starting this, but it’s doing the trick so far).

Thanks in advance, I know it’s a vague request but hopefully the list gives you inspiration!

Future Fighters: 1984’s perspective on the future of military aviation.

I found this very cool old book today, it’s filled with crazy designs and cool artwork. Some concepts (and images) are very familiar, others are new to me.

Being published in 1984 is actually a really cool moment in time for fighters. Many of the conceptual designs from back then end up becoming real. The MiG-29 speculation is particularly interesting.

I found $40 million worth of cheques in a thrift book today…

There is something melancholic about finding someone’s discarded affirmations... Frankly, I wouldn’t have purchased (or posted) without the cheques. I’m gonna hold onto them and keep believing in Punarjot.

I’m curious to flip through it and see what got everyone’s aunt so riled up when this book was popular.

Looking for a specific image from the 1993 Fairford air show mid-air collision…

In the 90s my dad had a small poster of this incident in his office, likely a centrefold taken from a magazine.

The image is almost definitely from the same photographer who took this shot, it’s this exact moment, but milliseconds earlier. The pilot is a little closer to the jet, and the wings are more or less horizontal, and the nose is folded downwards. Just after ejection.

If his poster did come from a magazine, I wonder if the magazine own(ed) it, meaning it’s less published than other images from the event. He was subscribed to several aviation magazines back then.

My dad has been gone for a long time so I can’t ask him, but it would mean a lot if I could recover that specific piece of nostalgia.

Something something, determinism, something something, omnipotent creator

Maybe my reptilian brain is calling all the shots and letting me think it was my idea. I don’t care if free will is real or not, I can’t tell the difference.

Small helicopter lot. Any idea what brand?

Bottom right is Galoob, but the other three are assembled differently and have zero identifying markings (the two on the left have China on the underside of the rotor).
