So I had this ICE loaner - EVd gas pump

Mach-E was in the shop for a front motor replacement. Had a gas loaner, an Explorer. Went to fill it up and some EV driver with a Sierra EV blocked one of the pumps. This despite there being an open parking spot not at a pump about 10 yards away.

I don't get people.

How are these trucks for tall guys?

I'm considering one, I'm going to go sit in it, but interested in long-term owners opinions of comfort.

I'm 6'7"/2m01, also 310 lbs about 140kg-ish. I have a Lightning on lease now and it's great, but I'm over mileage on my lease and I need to dump it for something else. Long term I was hoping to try Ford's new midsize EV truck but it's not going to be ready to meet my current needs.

My wife's Mach-E is in the shop for a motor replacement and it's been a couple of weeks already. This is giving me pause about continuing to own a Lightning as Ford has ended production. I could pick up a used one after my lease is over but I'm not feeling confident on support.

Don't really want a gas F150 because of the mileage. We had one the first 5 days that the Mach-E was in the shop and I averaged 18.5 mpg driving conservatively. We took back the F150 loaner and got an Explorer with the 2.3/10 speed that the Ranger has and I'm averaging 24 and that seems more acceptable.

So I'm looking at a 24-36 month lease on a Ranger. But I need to be able to live with the interior space. The Explorer loaner we have is great on interior room for me. But I would prefer the 7500 pound tow rating of the Ranger and 750 lb tongue weight. We rent a 4000lb travel trailer from a neighbor sometimes and it would be over the tongue weight limit of an Explorer. The Ranger could handle it, at least per the ratings.

Anyway... Thoughts?

As a person who loves his Lightning it pains me to say this

But the gas F150 is hot garbage.

We received one as a loaner from the dealer after my wife's Mach-E and I can't begin to tell you the number of things I hate about it compared to even other gas trucks, let alone the Lightning.

The only thing that is awesome about it is the column shifter.

Whoever developed the software for the 10 speed should be tarred and feathered and hung in the public square. And the 2.7 Ecoboost is an enigma. Give it a little extra pedal to keep up with traffic and when the boost kicks in you're up against the bumper of the person in front of you.

Do yourself a favor and get a Ram with the 5.7 and ZF 8 speed if you want a gas truck.

I'm keeping my Lightning.

I finally got my Lightning in the garage!

With my wife's Mach-E towed away to the dealer today, I really needed access to the L2 plug in the garage if we're going to use the Lightning this weekend. I usually charge on L1 outside with my Lightning and it's fine for going to the office because we have L2 chargers in the parking garage. But the last two days I got to work after 8:15 and I didn't get a charger, so combined with the fact that the Mach-E went off on a tow truck, I really needed to charge securely in the garage.

I did it, but there's probably not more than 3 inches to play with on both sides combined. Not recommended for daily usage for sure. But in a pinch, it can be done.

And away she goes to the dealer

Some kind of motor problem, my wife sent me some grainy videos while she was driving and it was making horrible noises. She was able to get to her destination but after that it would not start back up (12v was fine). Ford roadside assistance called, first tow driver could not get it in neutral. I left the office and went over there for the 2nd driver, I had it in neutral in less than 5 mins by putting it into accessory mode, putting the accelerator and brake to the floor, moving the dial to N and pressing L.

When the car was in for a recall maybe 9 months ago, I asked them to look at the motors because I thought one was too noisy. My Lightning's motors are dead silent at all times. The Mach -E had a whine at certain spreads. I think I was right. They said they couldn't find anything.

2023 Premium AWD small battery, in service date 6/24. We leased it new off the lot with 35 miles. Currently 33.5K.
